Ew, here we go again! Another Christmas comedy/pantomime special. Ahead of a full season of pantomime. Yes, Doctor Who you are losing viewers and this is why. No wonder the reboot needs a reboot!

This is why I prefer RTD’s Christmas specials, they were good for Christmas TV but also had a believable threat. I still think the Sycorax were one of the creepiest villains we’ve seen since 2005.

Look I you want to go out and trash talk a tv show go out and not do it on an app that people want to use to find out what’s going on

Guys, it’s a Christmas special, it’s not meant to be as serious, it’s meant to be more family friendly and comedic. I think it’ll be quite enjoyable.

Why does a Christmas special need to be any less serious than a normal story? I hope that one day we will get a Christmas special that is slightly dark in places, to push the message that Doctor Who is not just running down corridors.

Completely agree The Outcast. I think a dark and creepy xmas special would be great! This show just needs a revamp and for people to realise it can be so much better!
I usually lock myself in my room on broadcast but this year i’m happy to pass on it and watch on catch up.

I agree with T4RD1S it’s Christmas a lot of people watching won’t be fans they’ll just be people who wanna watch a bit of light hearted Christmas telly. I wouldn’t wanna watch something dark and creepy on Christmas it’s like, would you watch nightmare on elm street as a Christmas movie? No

I think the best way to get new fans is by showing Doctor Who at its best which is scary, action and dramatic rather than silly and too comedic.

You say would I watch Nightmare on Elm Street at Christmas. No I probably won’t but I can honestly say one of my all time favourite Xmas films is The Nightmare Before Christmas and thats also considered one of the great xmas films ever. Just because its xmas doesn’t mean it needs to be a pantomime.

Hmmm…not great. Why can’t they do a purpose filmed Children in Need mini special. Something like ‘Time-Crash’. Maybe a one off ten minute special with an earlier Doctor. Paul McGann would be good to see again.

Sigh! Can we have Doctor Who back now please. This is why my interest in the show has declined dramatically over the last 3 years. This is NOT how the show should be. Its like watching a pantomime!

Doctor Who needs a new direction. Moffat has clearly been show runner too long. Capaldi is a very good Doctor, but I’m still not sure he was the right choice after Matt Smith. I wasn’t impressed with the interview process, when it seemed no one else was considered apart from Capaldi. It’s similar to JNT doing the same with Colin Baker. Looking forward to Chris Chibnall taking over now, and hopefully rebooting the series with a new Doctor…and a proper interview process.

If they got rid of all this silly comedy that happens in just about every episode then scenes would come across much more serious. I hope the new writer knocks it on the head.

However after recently getting into Marvel am pretty hyped for this episode! 😀

Alright overall, but the visuals of the smashing/falling window and the city backdrop are pretty hurendous!

But, I must admit, I feel slightly better about nardoles pressence than I thought I would have been.

This just felt pretty flat overall and the music didn’t really fit. Nardole looks like he could be a funny companion though.

I think that I actually agree. I think that during the months that have past we all have sorta warmed to the idea. It might be one of those Donna case scenarios.

Not sure what I think about the episode. I would have preferred it to be about the Cybermen, Captain Jack or even some sort of tie in to Class instead of superheros.

But I am really liking Capaldi’s new costume and dare I say I’m looking forward to Nardole as a companion.

I think most people do. Hopefully series 10 won’t completely destroy any chances of the show returning to popularity.

    Well, where to start

I think they’re going for cheesy. Oh god I hope they’re going for cheesy. They’re achieving cheesy… Dodgy Russian accents, dodgy effects, cheesy… Please god let it be good…

My problem with it is they’ve gone for cheesy, and gotten cheesy cheese… like the cheese is cheesy… and it’s just too much cheese which makes the story jarring and unrelatable
