Doctor Who Rides Could Feature at £2bn Theme Park

From www.bbc.co.uk

Rides based on popular BBC shows such as Top Gear and Doctor Who could to form a central part of a £2bn Kent theme park, it has been announced.

Paramount Pictures entertainment resort on the Swanscombe Peninsula, near Dartford, is due to open in 2020.

London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) said it had signed a deal with BBC Worldwide that would let it feature famous BBC programmes and characters.

The theme park would also include Hollywood-inspired attractions.
‘Iconic characters’

LRCH director David Testa, said: “We are delighted to bring the world’s leading public service broadcaster on board this project.

“The BBC has played an instrumental role in shaping the British entertainment industry for nearly a century, creating some of the most iconic and cherished characters on TV and radio.

“It seems only right therefore that its programmes will be present at the new London Paramount Entertainment Resort, which will combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture.”

The park, on a 900-acre brownfield site is next to Ebbsfleet International railway station, is expected to create up 27,000 jobs.

Just imagine if they had a ride based on the Orient Express. It could be a simulator (Like some of the ride’s in Universal Orlando) and you see the Foretold.

They’ve already announced Doctor Who, Top Gear and Sherlock related attractions, since these are the most popular shows.
Also, the roller coaster is officially, literally, no joke, actually called… The Great British Brake Off. Yeah.
Could have been worse though. Could’ve been ‘Casualty’…

Top Gear, Sherlock, and Doctor Who. 3 of my favorite shows. Wonder if they’ll do a Kitchen Nightmares and if they do how will it be pulled off? Will it be a roller coaster with Ramsay just shouting at people who don’t know what a fork is?

He’d probably push everyone off. My favourite show is Sherlock. It used to be Doctor Who but I wasn’t impressed overall by Series 8. Kill the Moon, Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline and Time Heist were excellent, but then Forest and The Caretaker were absolutely dire. Sherlock is just as good as Doctor Who was, but better (does that make sense; probably not.)

So are they building it right now? If so, does anyone have a view of it? I’d like to see some pictures.

It’s still at the planning stage, they haven’t even purchased the land needed yet! Just search the web for London paramount and you’ll find an artists impression of the place. They want it to be ready for opening in 2020.

Thanks. I saw the drawing, it reminds me of something. It’s not Disneyland and not Universal studios. Let me think about it again and I’ll check back.

Oh yeah. It’s basically Paramount studios, only with roller coasters and the Union Jack.

Well, this is interesting. But hold on a mo, didn’t paramount use to produce marvel. If they could make a deal with disney, we could get marvel rides. But obviously, I’m more excited for Dr who

I am seriously against this happening and am livid that the BBC could even suggest it.

It’s probably either this or brining back this ‘Mr. Blobby land’ I’ve been hearing so much about. What is that anyway?

    I don’t think it’s going to work.
It’s not the first time that the BBC have wanted to set up a theme park.

Remember Blobby Land, and how much of a failure that was?

I presume this is more of a US style theme park like Universal studios/disneyland etc. It will cover a number of franchises. With Paramount involved I presume Star Trek and Mission Impossible ‘rides’ could also be involved.

If it is up to US standards I can’t see it failing.
