With the debut on the BBC o the highly ratedf “Killing Eve” as an available (Netflix like) boxset viewable in it’s entirety on the iPlayer after initial transmission on BBC1 of the first episode to be otherwise watched weekly it makes me at least wonder if online rumours that this is also going to be done with “Series 11” of “Who” are true.
IF from October 7 this is actually on the cards then we could know exactly what all the episodes are titled and about even about before steaming them which would make for some very interesting discussion here.

We normally have all the episode titles and synopsis before the first episode transmission anyway from some tv magazine or other so we will probably be able to discuss it sooner rather than later.
I’ve heard the roumer about the the iPlayer aswell. I do think that one at this is how shows like Doctor Who will be broadcast. Either weekly or in one go. Which would make it impossible to avoid spoilers which I’m not crazy about but streaming series is now the most popular way to watch stuff nowadays

They’ve gone this far too avoid spoilers there’s just no way that they’re going to make them all available at once. It would be such a bad move

Well DWM is out a week tomorrow so probably they will want to get some of those titles out first before the TV guides unless they allow so many and the rest TBA (To be Announced), allowing the likes of Radio Times full details when nearest to the air date of ‘The woman who fell to Earth’.

I suppose if the show is a success with a female Doctor, and many more women play the role in succession, so it becomes very established…what would happen if the role suddenly went back to a male lead? Would there be a similar split in fandom?

Here’s a thought…
Romana II took on the appearance of Princess Astra (after first ‘trying on’ different appearances), Colin Baker first appeared as Commander Maxil (determined to kill Peter Davison’s Doctor) and more recently Peter Capaldi’s Doctor looked a great deal like a certain well-to-do Roman living in the shadow of Pompeii.
‘Borrowing’ the appearance of an already existing being seems to be a well established option for Time Lord regenerations…
So, assuming there will be future female Doctors – and to redress the lack of ‘ginger’ appearances… might I suggest Karen Gillan as the Doctor for the show’s 60th anniversary?

Not much in terms of spoilers so that is a good thing, but the teaser itself is something of a let down.
I can fully understand the PC comments and it does worry a bit for season 11.
Less than a month to go now and judgments will be made on Jodie and everything else.
Doctor Stu
September 9th, 2018 - 12:55pm
Chris Chibnall has said the Doctors gender will barely be addressed, we’ve had three teasers now and this is the first time the gender has been addressed, not even verbally or explicitly. And why would drawing attention to it make anyone ‘worry’ about the show anyway. For example, they made it clear well before airing that Charlie and Matteusz from class were going to be gay but nobody started ‘worrying’ about that. What if it’s actually addressed in the show, are people still going to complain?

September 9th, 2018 - 3:48pm
I’m talking about how PC agenda issues could and no doubt will be used to attack the show during season 11.
I may do so myself, can’t comment yet as we haven’t seen the new season yet!
So some fans will worry about season 11, like it or not, just because you a not, doesn’t mean others won’t. And they have a right to do so because many are not happy with the gender change myself included, but as I have stated before I will give it a go, I’ve invested a lot of time from the early 70s up until now as a fan.

Well, if the Jodie Whittaker era and series 11 doesn’t gel, I will just go and watch Jon Pertwee and season 11 on DVD instead on Sunday nights. ‘The Time Warrior’ is quality Doctor Who at least.
The Moffat Paradox
September 10th, 2018 - 1:46am
If we not very pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised by series 11 and it doesn’t gel it could have wider implications for UK TV and the BBC in particular as well as elsewhere; a blowback against programmes being too Liberal Left,SJW/PC agenda driven.Which would be a cultural shock for many of them that work in TV. They’ll finally have to get it: The public DOSENT LIKE THIS and are SICK OF IT.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 10th, 2018 - 9:09am
If the BBC wanted a female time traveller, why couldn’t they have done ‘The adventures of Romana’. Probably would have been a better spinoff than ‘Class’! Anyway, if it’s ‘about time’ for a female Doctor, surely it’s also time for a female James Bond, or a female Sherlock Holmes, or a female Robin Hood etc. Maybe the issue really is there aren’t aready enough established fictional female role models.
Doctor Stu
September 10th, 2018 - 9:28am
The ‘about time’ comment only really applies to the Doctor though however as the others aren’t aliens who can replace every cell of their bodies

It would not make sense to make human male characters, like James Bond, Robin Hood etc female, at least with the Doctor you can make the excuse of his an alien who can literally change their entire appearance.

the eregon I agree, some are wading in before Jodie has even began.
As a dissenter to the gender change it has taken me a long time to get my head around it, even now I feel it has been forced into the show after 50 years of this never having been mentioned (excluding Tom Bakers comment many years ago)
Having said that I am looking at as many positives as I can, and I will give Jodie the chance to win me around, if this happens I would happy to come here and say so but no matter what I personally feel others are going to be completely against this change and they are within their rights to say so.
I do believe this is a mistake, it has clearly split the fan base and it did not have to happen.
the ergon
September 11th, 2018 - 11:31am
I agree the gender change for some might have been a step too far for traditionalists. Since the series came back in 2005, I myself have had to adjust to the format change separating the classic series from the new (And there are things i dislike from both eras)The show is continually adding to its own mythology and evolving, thats just the way it is. Is it such a huge sidestep to just accept a woman and give her a chance (even if some aren,t happy with the casting).Maybe more could have been mentioned earlier to facillitate this change instead of a last minute reference from the 12th doctor (‘We can only Hope’) and the not so subtle regeneration in ‘Hell Bent’.
Its a sign of the times. The way its going could pave the way for a coloured, gay, transgender or even disabled doctor. Its not the old Who i grew up on but i like different and as long as it keeps the show moving in a positive way (Not stuffing the PC casting or overdoing the political points down my throat) i,ll embrace jodies incarnation. There, the ‘Eregon’ has spoken, thanks for your input Patsy86.
The Moffat Paradox
September 11th, 2018 - 10:22pm
If Who originated as a successful comic book or a computer game then you could have in publications as many different iterations of the same character as male, female, gay, straight, black, transgender or disabled as well as continuing stories with the different original incarnations (Marvel’s tried female versions of male superheroes). Market forces would reveal what was really the most popular.amongst all consumers.
With something that originated on particularly publicly funded TV more finite resources (including time; appositely enough) are involved so you have to try to appeal much more critically initially to a MASS audience having originally struck lightning with the classic series back in 1963 when no one could foresee what a phenomenon was being created. So short of being able to give like a drink Who just as each of us imagines we would now like it best if the writing isn’t good enough to complement or make up for the performance of the radically changed central character by Jodie Whittaker I think this is a bit like a licence payer paid very speculative investment which could tank terribly if it departs too much from what worked before,
But IF IT WORKS (PC warts and all) it will probably be the BIGGEST PAY OFF for the BBC with Who since bringing it back in 2005. In which In which case comparisons with Sidney Newman when played by Brian Cox in “An Adventure In Space And Time” would be apt who told Verity Lambert “no bug eyed monsters” and was livid about the Daleks until the viewing figures came in.:”10 million viewers for your bug eyed monsters. What do I know kid?”

Another ‘something of nothing’ trailer. And the accompanying music was awful. It’s fine not giving anything away, but if the trailers we get are naff anyway, why bother. It only makes the new series less appealing. These trailers are not making me excited about the upcoming series, but very apprehensive about where this show is heading.

I am extremely hyped for this series. More so than any other since the 50th Anniversary.
I think it’s because we really know nothing about it yet.
All I really ask is for a proper explanation of why the Doctor has never had a female regeneration before.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 8:15pm
Well, if they don’t explain it. I just presume that gender change was installed into Timelord regenerative d.n.a at a later stage in Gallifrey’s evolution. As quite clearly, the Doctor’s first set of 12 regenerations were all male. So Romana’s first set of regenerations would all be female, the Master’s were extremely likely all male, until of course he was resurrected with a new set of regenerations, hence why he became her (Missy). I’d even suggest that even Morbius was male in all his regenerations, until his all his lives diminished, and eventually became just a brain in a goldfish bowl! Plus, I don’t recall the second Doctor (The War Games) being offered a female form when the Timelords let the Doctor choose his next appearance. Indeed, the Sisterhood of Karn did offer the eighth Doctor the chance to be a man or woman. So the Timelords by this point already were able to switch genders through regeneration. But as the eighth Doctor chose to be a warrior and remained a man, he was only going to become a she ‘IF’ the Timelords gifted the Doctor with a new regenerative life cycle. Luckily for him they did, and in the process gave him a gender swap d.n.a process.
Doctor Stu
September 12th, 2018 - 1:57pm
Maybe the sisterhood of Karn added the ability to turn into a female when they gave him that regenerative potion in night of the Doctor. But Moffat has made out as if this has always been a chsnge that could have happened. Whereas even tho I’m not against the female doctor I would have liked for there to be a reason why instead of Moffat writing as if this has always been a possibility
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 13th, 2018 - 9:42am
Yeah, Moffat clearly built up the gender swap idea during HIS time in the series. It certainly wasn’t referred to in the series before then. One can’t help but think that Moffat knew full well Chibnall wanted a female Doctor for quite some time. It can’t be any coincidence that the Master became Missy, the Timelord General regenerating from man to woman, Clara saying to the Cyberman that ‘she’ is the Doctor, and then her face appearing in the Doctor Who titles! It wasn’t exactly subtle was it. The agenda of changing the Doctor’s gender has been in the planning since Moffat run the show, and not before.

Short of a more conventional trailer it might also have made more sense in trying to win us sceptics over if when the glass cracked we could see images of things that are going to be seen in the episodes in the shards.

September 7th, 2018 - 5:31pm
“Whoops” indeed.
Pathetic.
This glass ceiling nonsense is just that, we all have our own ceiling levels to get through, and the BBC pandering to left liberalism is wrong.
The issue of gender change is different to feminism, different to misogyny, or the BBC’s pay gap.
All of these can be tackled with clever narratives of the story without it being rammed down our throats, and actually use The Doctor as he has been, a positive male influence that is inclusive to all, and can pass that on and write in empowered female characters – a regeneration of Susan would great and completely change the stereotype she became to emphasise the points…. or use Romana again.
I am glad it is on on a Sunday, cos it will clash with the NFL, so I will be watching the NFL instead.

Why shouldn’t The Doctor be a woman? They never said she couldn’t be? Time lords can change in to anything but God forbid a woman. Jodie will do a great job at being a role model of female empowerment inclusive to all. They’re hardly ramming it down our throats when the idea has been thought of since the 80s when Tom Baker left. It’s about time
The Master
September 8th, 2018 - 4:49pm
Having the Doctor as a woman in the context of the show is fine, but “smashing the glass ceiling” as many people have picked up on has very little to do with that in their opinion.
A glass ceiling is a metaphor used to represent an invisible barrier that keeps a given demographic (typically applied to minorities) from rising beyond a certain level in a hierarchy.
The metaphor was first coined by feminists in reference to barriers in the careers of high-achieving women.

I had never even heard of this so-called “saying” before, I think for any genuine fan of the show, it should be acknowledged that the Doctor is an alien, when he/she is injured, the regeneration process starts. It just so happens that the new body is that of a female, she is still the Doctor.
I wasn’t a fan when it was announced, but I decided not to judge on something I haven’t even seen yet. So to all of you that don’t like the idea, just give the new Doctor a chance, you might just like her.

Personally I don’t mind the the gender change, but I think the reasons for it was to seem progressive. For example, Chris Chibnall in the entertainment magazine said he thought “the time was right” and if Doctor who didn’t do the gender change “we would be behind in the world”, this is him pretty confirming the reason he did the gender change was to be progressive.

I just appreciated it for what it was, a tongue in cheek teaser trailer with a shot of the new Doctor being cheeky and an amazing HD glass ceiling smashing into a million pieces. Why show anything at all that can have controversial meanings, its almost like its deliberate to divide fandom again.
You need to look up what “smashing the glass ceiling” means in some circles and it sure has nothing to do with Timelords.
That’s not a trailer its a statement.
The Moffat Paradox
September 8th, 2018 - 9:24pm
The problem with a word like “progressive” is that it is used as a buzzword as part of agendas like gender change to imply improvement on what went before when it most literally means moving forward to a new destination. Just because you’ve moved to a new destination in anything doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a better one. So when people say “it was better in the old days” their not necessarily just being nostalgic for an era, in this case the history of a TV show, they didn’t appreciate as much at the time. There can be instances in which saying that might well be right.
As far as Chibnall claiming that if this change in Who hadn’t been done it would be”behind in the world”” I often wonder if their actually in the world when Liberal Left agendas have been getting rejected at the ballot box.
Doctor Stu
September 8th, 2018 - 9:39pm
I know what smashing the glass ceiling means and it’s fairly accurate. In fact People didn’t want her to be the new doctor, they wanted it to be a man and so in one way she’s smashed the class ceiling to get to this particular role in the first place.

Wasn’t there talk about how they are not going to make a deal about the Gender change and then they do this.
I am starting to get worried about Season 11 and its got nothing to do with the Gender change, just struggling to get excited. Haven;t been impressed with the Script writing for about 3 years now, Plenty of good story ideas but poorly written, found the ideas just didn’t fit into a 45 min episode, with poor pacing a serious issue.

The writing should be better with Chibnall at the helm, and the 45 minute episodes are being extended slightly, so that should make something of a difference.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 9:50pm
Well, I don’t consider any of Chibnall’s previous Doctor Who (or Torchwood) episodes to be classics, whilst Moffat did write some absolute belting classics during the RTD era. But I do feel Moffat’s stories are more memorable from the RTD era, than those that were written whilst showrunner. Chibnall had a superb first series of ‘Broadchurch’, but would have been better as a one-off, rather than having further series, that couldn’t live up to the first, and arguably didn’t.
R1ch1e
September 10th, 2018 - 6:36am
I do agree with most. Chibnalls episodes have hardly been classics. That’s not to say I hate them. Far from it in fact. I just recently watched The Hungry Earth again and loved it. But In comparison to other stories i wouldn’t choose 42 over Silence in the Library for example.
But here the thing as I see it. All this episodes of Torchwood and Doctor Who that he has written in the past have been done so under another showrunner. Russell T and Moff would tell him write a story to fill 45 minutes of their series and I don’t think this style of writing suits him. I think his strengths lie as Showrunner himself. Where he can be allowed complete reign over the show. He is a very broad sites better suited to a full series.
Take Broadchurch for example. It is the other obvious Chibnall work to compare to after all. He created a program that got the whole country talking. He created characters for Olivia Coleman and Jodie Whittaker that made them household names. And it certainly didn’t do David Tennants incredible reputation any harm. The attention to detail was second to none, handling the most sensitive subjects very delicately. Ok so the second series didn’t hit quite the same hights but the third, for me was every bit as good as the first.
If he has put that TLC into Doctor Who as he did with Broadchurch, as Showrunner, then i think Doctor who is in very safe hands indeed.

Whether the Doctor is a he or she, it’s the writing and direction that will decide the fate of this long running series. I’m certainly not fickle enough to believe just because we have a female Doctor that the series is doomed for failure. But I would have preferred Phobe Waller-Bridge. Naturally funny and quirky actress. Would have been perfect.

Anonymous : First and foremost, I have no objection to a person deciding on gender change, none at all.
What is relevant is that this is nothing to do with the show, and all to do with the BBC having their pay splattered all over the press and then reacting by going on a PC Offensive . And this, Whovian, is represented by the glass ceiling breaking*, it is nothing to do with being a real fan of the show (which I will try and catch this year as it clashes with the NFL ).
There is nothing wrong with having a male lead, you wouldn’t dare re-cast Cagney & Lacey as misogynist dudes ?- so the BBC have an easy vehicle to enforce their agenda – *Idealism belongs to everyone, not just to pander to the PC Brigade. or “Liberals”.
I hope the BBC are brave enough to tackle a Misandry storyline ….(!) 😉

Not a fan of this. Visuals are great, but the message behind them just seems to be reinforcing my worries. And the music choice, is, off. The ‘got a chance to start again’ with the logo is just cringey tbh. It feels like the shows trying too hard to appeal to a modern audience like other shows.

In every interview i’ve seen with the cast and crew this year they have enforced the point that they barely make a big deal out of her gender, like when Jodie was asked if she is playing it as a boy or a girl by a fan which she then talked about in a recent Marie Curie interview, she said she’s playing it as The Doctor. Even some leakers have been stating this, and if you have stumbled on some of the leaks from this series, it’s fair to say 90-95% of them have been accurate apart from the annual “Captain Jack/K9/River Song/Rose/Ace/Omega Is Coming Back” Rumours

IF from October 7 this is actually on the cards then we could know exactly what all the episodes are titled and about even about before steaming them which would make for some very interesting discussion here.

‘Borrowing’ the appearance of an already existing being seems to be a well established option for Time Lord regenerations…

September 9th, 2018 - 10:50amNot much in terms of spoilers so that is a good thing, but the teaser itself is something of a let down.
I can fully understand the PC comments and it does worry a bit for season 11.
Less than a month to go now and judgments will be made on Jodie and everything else.
Doctor Stu
September 9th, 2018 - 12:55pmChris Chibnall has said the Doctors gender will barely be addressed, we’ve had three teasers now and this is the first time the gender has been addressed, not even verbally or explicitly. And why would drawing attention to it make anyone ‘worry’ about the show anyway. For example, they made it clear well before airing that Charlie and Matteusz from class were going to be gay but nobody started ‘worrying’ about that. What if it’s actually addressed in the show, are people still going to complain?
Pats86
September 9th, 2018 - 3:48pmI’m talking about how PC agenda issues could and no doubt will be used to attack the show during season 11.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 9:27pmWell, if the Jodie Whittaker era and series 11 doesn’t gel, I will just go and watch Jon Pertwee and season 11 on DVD instead on Sunday nights. ‘The Time Warrior’ is quality Doctor Who at least.
The Moffat Paradox
September 10th, 2018 - 1:46amIf we not very pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised by series 11 and it doesn’t gel it could have wider implications for UK TV and the BBC in particular as well as elsewhere; a blowback against programmes being too Liberal Left,SJW/PC agenda driven.Which would be a cultural shock for many of them that work in TV. They’ll finally have to get it: The public DOSENT LIKE THIS and are SICK OF IT.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 10th, 2018 - 9:09amIf the BBC wanted a female time traveller, why couldn’t they have done ‘The adventures of Romana’.
Doctor Stu
September 10th, 2018 - 9:28amThe ‘about time’ comment only really applies to the Doctor though however as the others aren’t aliens who can replace every cell of their bodies
Anonymous
September 10th, 2018 - 3:35pmIt would not make sense to make human male characters, like James Bond, Robin Hood etc female, at least with the Doctor you can make the excuse of his an alien who can literally change their entire appearance.

September 10th, 2018 - 5:54pmAll the naysayers sharpening their blades ready to take it down before we,ve even started. I hope Booboo youre taking note and only allow apply the more positive comments or constructive criticisms when you put up the ‘What did you think of.. section on your site.

September 10th, 2018 - 8:56pmThe ergon one persons idea of “constructive criticism” might be anothers idea of gratuitous negativity. I think the claim that sceptics are just a “vocal minority” is shown as a dubious claim as judging by comments here opinion until transmission from October 7th remains split.
Pats86
September 10th, 2018 - 9:27pmI do think the comments can be aggressive, but the eregon I ask you this… if booboo only allowed positive comments or constructive criticism it would not be an open forum would it?
I hope I myself have not gone too far with my criticism in the past, I realise that I have upset some but I do get passionate about this show.
the ergon
September 10th, 2018 - 10:01pmFree speech is one thing. Its that vehemance of negativity before its even started. I don,t think i,m going to wade in when it kicks off. Its quite obvious some people are relishing killing the beginning of jodies tenure, PC or not. I don,t envy you.
Pats86
September 11th, 2018 - 6:44amthe eregon I agree, some are wading in before Jodie has even began.
I do believe this is a mistake, it has clearly split the fan base and it did not have to happen.
the ergon
September 11th, 2018 - 11:31amI agree the gender change for some might have been a step too far for traditionalists.
September 11th, 2018 - 10:22pmIf Who originated as a successful comic book or a computer game then you could have in publications as many different iterations of the same character as male, female, gay, straight, black, transgender or disabled as well as continuing stories with the different original incarnations (Marvel’s tried female versions of male superheroes).
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 1:47amAnother ‘something of nothing’ trailer. And the accompanying music was awful. It’s fine not giving anything away, but if the trailers we get are naff anyway, why bother. It only makes the new series less appealing. These trailers are not making me excited about the upcoming series, but very apprehensive about where this show is heading.

September 9th, 2018 - 12:17amI am extremely hyped for this series. More so than any other since the 50th Anniversary.
I think it’s because we really know nothing about it yet.
All I really ask is for a proper explanation of why the Doctor has never had a female regeneration before.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 8:15pmWell, if they don’t explain it.
Doctor Stu
September 12th, 2018 - 1:57pmMaybe the sisterhood of Karn added the ability to turn into a female when they gave him that regenerative potion in night of the Doctor. But Moffat has made out as if this has always been a chsnge that could have happened. Whereas even tho I’m not against the female doctor I would have liked for there to be a reason why instead of Moffat writing as if this has always been a possibility
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 13th, 2018 - 9:42amYeah, Moffat clearly built up the gender swap idea during HIS time in the series.
The Moffat Paradox
September 8th, 2018 - 9:46pmShort of a more conventional trailer it might also have made more sense in trying to win us sceptics over if when the glass cracked we could see images of things that are going to be seen in the episodes in the shards.

September 7th, 2018 - 5:31pm“Whoops” indeed.

September 8th, 2018 - 4:37pmWhy shouldn’t The Doctor be a woman? They never said she couldn’t be? Time lords can change in to anything but God forbid a woman. Jodie will do a great job at being a role model of female empowerment inclusive to all. They’re hardly ramming it down our throats when the idea has been thought of since the 80s when Tom Baker left. It’s about time
The Master
September 8th, 2018 - 4:49pmHaving the Doctor as a woman in the context of the show is fine, but “smashing the glass ceiling” as many people have picked up on has very little to do with that in their opinion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass_ceiling
A glass ceiling is a metaphor used to represent an invisible barrier that keeps a given demographic (typically applied to minorities) from rising beyond a certain level in a hierarchy.
The metaphor was first coined by feminists in reference to barriers in the careers of high-achieving women.

September 8th, 2018 - 5:01pmI had never even heard of this so-called “saying” before, I think for any genuine fan of the show, it should be acknowledged that the Doctor is an alien, when he/she is injured, the regeneration process starts. It just so happens that the new body is that of a female, she is still the Doctor.
I wasn’t a fan when it was announced, but I decided not to judge on something I haven’t even seen yet. So to all of you that don’t like the idea, just give the new Doctor a chance, you might just like her.

September 8th, 2018 - 5:08pmneither had i until i looked it up after reading some comments, so i can see why to some its just adding fuel to PC argument.

September 8th, 2018 - 5:19pmI did quite like the music as it is in the teaser but having heard the whole thing in spotify I’m not a fan! But I still love the teaser.

September 8th, 2018 - 5:29pmPersonally I don’t mind the the gender change, but I think the reasons for it was to seem progressive. For example, Chris Chibnall in the entertainment magazine said he thought “the time was right” and if Doctor who didn’t do the gender change “we would be behind in the world”, this is him pretty confirming the reason he did the gender change was to be progressive.
Doctor Stu
September 8th, 2018 - 8:43pmI just appreciated it for what it was, a tongue in cheek teaser trailer with a shot of the new Doctor being cheeky and an amazing HD glass ceiling smashing into a million pieces. I just wish people didn’t have to pick it apart and start complaining. So what she’s ‘smashing the glass ceiling’ the world didn’t end.

September 8th, 2018 - 8:47pmI do find it a bit weird, that the people saying give her a chance then attack people, like peter Davidson, who have fair and constructed opinions on the gender change.

September 8th, 2018 - 8:57pmWhy show anything at all that can have controversial meanings, its almost like its deliberate to divide fandom again.
You need to look up what “smashing the glass ceiling” means in some circles and it sure has nothing to do with Timelords.
That’s not a trailer its a statement.
The Moffat Paradox
September 8th, 2018 - 9:24pmThe problem with a word like “progressive” is that it is used as a buzzword as part of agendas like gender change to imply improvement on what went before when it most literally means moving forward to a new destination.
Doctor Stu
September 8th, 2018 - 9:39pmI know what smashing the glass ceiling means and it’s fairly accurate. In fact People didn’t want her to be the new doctor, they wanted it to be a man and so in one way she’s smashed the class ceiling to get to this particular role in the first place.

September 8th, 2018 - 11:16pmWasn’t there talk about how they are not going to make a deal about the Gender change and then they do this.
Pats86
September 9th, 2018 - 10:40am47 I thought I would have preferred Sunday’s to watch, never thought about NFL! been supporting Patriots since 1986 (hence to user name) will have to give it some more thought.
Tyler Prescott
September 9th, 2018 - 11:28amThe writing should be better with Chibnall at the helm, and the 45 minute episodes are being extended slightly, so that should make something of a difference.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 9th, 2018 - 9:50pmWell, I don’t consider any of Chibnall’s previous Doctor Who (or Torchwood) episodes to be classics, whilst Moffat did write some absolute belting classics during the RTD era.
R1ch1e
September 10th, 2018 - 6:36amI do agree with most.
Dalek Eye Stalk
September 10th, 2018 - 4:20pmWhether the Doctor is a he or she, it’s the writing and direction that will decide the fate of this long running series. I’m certainly not fickle enough to believe just because we have a female Doctor that the series is doomed for failure. But I would have preferred Phobe Waller-Bridge. Naturally funny and quirky actress. Would have been perfect.

September 18th, 2018 - 7:05pmAnonymous : First and foremost, I have no objection to a person deciding on gender change, none at all.

September 7th, 2018 - 5:29pmNot a fan of this. Visuals are great, but the message behind them just seems to be reinforcing my worries. And the music choice, is, off. The ‘got a chance to start again’ with the logo is just cringey tbh. It feels like the shows trying too hard to appeal to a modern audience like other shows.
El Royale
September 8th, 2018 - 7:48pmIn every interview i’ve seen with the cast and crew this year they have enforced the point that they barely make a big deal out of her gender, like when Jodie was asked if she is playing it as a boy or a girl by a fan which she then talked about in a recent Marie Curie interview, she said she’s playing it as The Doctor. Even some leakers have been stating this, and if you have stumbled on some of the leaks from this series, it’s fair to say 90-95% of them have been accurate apart from the annual “Captain Jack/K9/River Song/Rose/Ace/Omega Is Coming Back” Rumours

September 8th, 2018 - 10:16pmCompletely agree. When the Doctor says oops, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can sort of feel a bit of the cheekiness of her tenth incarnation coming out a bit.
