“SFX is hot off the phone from an interview with Doctor Who Live director Will Brenton who confirmed to us what some fans had already suspected (fans putting two and two together and coming up with four? What is the world coming to?): the story behind the spectacular stage show that tours the UK later this year is a sequel to the 1973 Jon Pertwee Doctor Who story, “The Carnival Of Monsters”. Of sorts anyway.”

Doctor Who Live will be happening in nine cities across the UK on 25 dates from 8 October.

The BBC and Steven Moffat have announced today that the transmission of the next series of Doctor Who, in 2011, will be split into two blocks, transmitting in spring and autumn.

Steven Moffat said: “The split series is hugely exciting because viewers will be treated to two premieres, two finales and more event episodes. For the kids it will never be more than a few months to the next Doctor Who! Easter, Autumn, Christmas!!”

The Radio Times scheduling for September includes highlights from this years spectacular Doctor Who at the proms.

The first showing is on Monday 06 September between 8:30pm – 9:30pm on BBC3 with a repeat Tuesday 07 September between 2:45am – 3:45am again on BBC3

Stars of the series Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill host a concert featuring Murray Gold’s music for the sci-fi programme, including his latest reimagining of Ron Grainer’s classic theme tune. Featuring performances by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the London Philharmonic Choir, and soloists Yamit Mamo and Mark Chambers. Ben Foster is the conductor.

There is also an extended showing on Friday 10 September between 7:00pm – 8:30pm again on BBC3

Staged at the Royal Albert Hall in July of this year, Matt Smith (The Doctor), Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) are on presenting duties, and you can see them talk about the Prom as well as their preparations as they get ready to take the stage.

Red Button viewers can also see exclusive music not featured in the main Doctor Who Proms show as well as a look at the audience through the eyes of some of the Doctor Who aliens.

Spectacular Dalek weekend at the National Space Centre from the 11th – 12th September. This is an annual event they hold to raise money for Children in Need.

The National Space Centre is about to be invaded. Strange metal creatures are threatening to “Exterminate!’ all visitors, without a Doctor in sight it seems the only way to stop them is to meet their demands and help raise as much money as we can for Children In Need.

The incredible Hyde Fundraisers will be joining us on Saturday with some familiar enemies both old and new. They will be hosting a sculpting demonstration during the Saturday together with a display of moulds and masks.

On Saturday we are joined by:

Ruaru Mears who has played a whole host of villains, Slitheen,
Cyberman, Ood, Judoon, Pigman, Scarecrow, Hath and Cyber Shade to name
just a few.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan appeared on the One Show today which included an image of the Christmas special with Matt Smith standing outside the Tardis with it snowing.

The title of the next Adventure Game has been confirmed as TARDIS and it’s released on Friday, 27 August.

It will feature monsters, terrifying new dangers for the Doctor and Amy and offers an amazing insight into the world’s most famous blue box. It’s also been announced that the game will give players the opportunity to pilot the Doctor’s iconic time machine.

It’s the third Adventure Game and will be available at no extra cost to UK households, simultaneously on PC and Mac from this site. Users outside the UK will be able to purchase and download it on its UK release date, 27 August.

Up to 8 winners will be selected to attend a two day master class on 23rd and 24th October 2010 with leading industry professionals involved in games design.
