National Television Awards 2011

Voting is now open for the National Television Awards.

Doctor Who has been nominated for Best Drama with Matt Smith and Karen Gillen nominated for Best Drama performance.

Doctor Who is one of 33 nominees in its category whilst 50 nominees are up for best Drama performance.

All votes must be in by one minute to midnight on Monday 11 October and Winners will be announced at the ceremony on ITV1 in January 2011

“SFX is hot off the phone from an interview with Doctor Who Live director Will Brenton who confirmed to us what some fans had already suspected (fans putting two and two together and coming up with four? What is the world coming to?): the story behind the spectacular stage show that tours the UK later this year is a sequel to the 1973 Jon Pertwee Doctor Who story, “The Carnival Of Monsters”. Doctor Who Series 5 Final ratings

The final total viewing figures for the last 2 episodes of series 5 were not immediately available via the official BARB website but have now been disclosed.

All figures include the HD channel but not BBC i player which in itself has achieved very high downloads figures with every episode achieving well over 1m views. The AI for the last 2 episodes were also very high and the best of the series.

This year has seen a big shift in viewing habits with less people watching the programme “live”, instead choosing to record and watch it later or make use of the i player.

The final figures are as follows…

The Eleventh Hour 10.08 million

The Beast Below 8.4 million

Victory of the Daleks 8.2 million

The Time of Angels 8.6 million

Flesh and Stone 8.5 million

The Vampires of Venice 7.7 million

Orbital perform Dr Who at Glastonbury 2010

The Glastonbury 2010 Orbital performance of the Doctor Who theme has been made available via the official BBC Youtube channel. The band were introduced by Matt Smith. Orbitals version of the theme tune has always been a favourite of many fans.

Your Chance to Get Involved

We may be hurtling towards the incredible series finale but before that, there’s lots to look forward to, including a chance for you to get involved with an Adventure Games.

On Tues, 22 June we’ll be celebrating the imminent release of the second Adventure Game with a special day in Glasgow. The morning kicks off with Doctor Who’s Executive Producer and Lead writer Steven Moffat visiting a school in Glasgow where some lucky students will be the first to try the second game. They’ll then have the opportunity to quiz him in a Q&A session, finding out about the world of Doctor Who and in particular, the brand new game.

In the afternoon we’ll be travelling to Pacific Quay where a Doctor Who panel will be discussing City of the Daleks, the second Adventure Game and the series finale. We’ll be bringing you the whole session live and online including a Q&A with the Doctor Who team – and we want your questions to put to them!

The panel will comprise Phil Ford, writer of the first two Adventure Games and Charles Cecil, one of the Adventure Games’ Executive Producers. Voice of the Daleks, Cybermen and many other monsters, Nick Briggs, will also be on the panel.

The whole event will be available to watch live online on this site. It will include the team sharing the secrets of how the Doctor’s adventures are created and an exclusive clip from episode 13, The Big Bang… plus a surprise or two…
