The new look Daleks were exclusively revealed on the Radio Times website, you can see a whole host of images on their site Here.

BBC newsbeat also have a few new images from Victory of the Daleks Here

Coming this Saturday from The Doctor Who Site – Victory of the Daleks – The Game…

In this week’s Radio Times:

Election fever has reached Radio Times: The Daleks are back in technicolour and this week’s Radio Times has three different Dalek covers – red, blue and yellow, like the three main political parties.

Writer Mark Gatiss explains his fascination with Daleks and explores their timeless appeal.

Plus, Radio Times takes an exclusive first look into the BBC’s online archive to find out its top Doctor Who secrets

An online BBC Archive project allows the first ever access to audience research reports on previous Time Lords from John Pertwee to Sylvester McCoy. Radio Times went to find out more.

And an interview with Gordon Brown including a quickfire round of questions about topics such as Doctor Who:

Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet?

“Hamlet [with David Tennant]. I saw it recently.”

John Pertwee, Tom Baker, David Tennant or Matt Smith?

“I think you know what I’m going to say here. Yes. David Tennant is the best.”

I think the new skittle daleks (as i like to call them) are awful. I think we should go back to Terry Nation’s original Daleks

In my opinion, the new daleks are great. But it does’nt look like the new team (producers etc…) are as good as RTD and julie (whas her name). But i do love the new series!!

The new dalek colours are all right although i would of prefered them to use mettallic paint but the new design is soo bad!!!

It looks to me like the new Daleks can be made by vacuum forming plastic I assume to cut costs. the problem is they look like vacuum formed plastic, cheap and nasty and to add insult to injury the proportions are all off. they look awful to me.

What a spoiler. On Wednesday the RT comes out. So its no suprise they appear on Saturday. Stupid idea to have them on RT cover. New Dalek tubbies, are terrible.

Just compare them over the years: http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/9019/dalekdesign.jpg
It’s quite clear in comparison that the new ones are utterly, utterly dreadful.

    @Last of the Timelords

yes but in any 1 episode there has only really been a 1st in command (maybe a 2nd in command too) and then the army but now there are more like a tatical squad which dosen’t make sense as daleks are the same so a drone dalek should be able to do the job of a strategist in exactly the same way and vise versa so there is no point to them. Also I liked it when they were all gold, it showed that they were supreme while showing that they are emotionless and all the same creature.

Why doesn’t everyone calm down, the Daleks have come in so many colours over the years:
    Silver and Blue
    Dark Grey and Black
    Light Grey and Black
    Silver and Black
    Black and White
    Gold and Black
    Red and Gold
    Black
    Bronze
    Khaki
    Black, Silver and Blue
    Black and Blue
    White and Gold

There are loads…so just cool it!

I really wished two things about those big “boxy” coloured Daleks.

1: That they dont exist or will not be appearing in the actual episode and are not actually real or canonical.

2: That if by such great misfortune they are appearing in the episode, which I will be seeing tonight, that I hadnt seen this page, bit of a spoiler. Ahh sigh.

  12. Posted by: sylar sec April 17th, 2010 Reply

I Hate them. Why would a species that hate anything with emotion have coloured daleks anyway? and yes I know it is for their ranks but why not just have different tags and I thought all daleks were the same so shouldn’t any dalek be able to think on their own without relying on a rainbow team of daleks. Seriously one emperor should be enough for their army and wouldn’t daleks that were created by davros himself be more pure than a load of freak daleks and why change a thing everyone loves to stupid freak that looks like it cost them 5p to make.

I’ve just watched the episode, and they look brilliant. There are no more “old” Daleks. Those new ones exterminated them. Not exactly fair.

  16. Posted by: koquillion April 17th, 2010 Reply

    @ CG

I don’t theorise on these things as it’s pointless to try and second-guess what the writers have come up with. Based on the facts I know about these ‘nu-daleks’(a few stills in a few TV listings mags), I can’t form a proper opinion and can’t until I see them on screen, but I do agree that from what I’ve seen they look a bit odd. Not bad, odd. (Odd is the new good for me the Moff era) They still look very much like Daleks though and it is good to know that when they do invade, they will be busy mowing down and suckering the faces off people who just laugh at them, giving me time to be on my toes to safety!! Thanks for making the ultimate sacrifice.

“especially in this day of advanced kids who expect more then a leap in to the past.” Just who are these terrifying super beings who are unable to accept history and why are they bothering to watch an updated version of a TV show from 1963 if it doesn’t meet their digitally enhanced expectations? The “advanced kids” in my family have been nothing but complimentary about the first two episodes of Moff’s era and love Matt as the Doctor (“he’s the best since Tom” says one 9 year old, bravely ignoring his owns generation inability to see past the present and leaping to a past he was not even part of to form his own valid 21st century opinion now). I firmly believe that it will take more than a few jelly baby coloured Daleks and a St.Johns Ambulance badge to change that.

im 14 and ive luved dr who since i was like 3. i have to admit that i was more of a fan of old who in the RTD era. many pepo i know who have watched old who are more of a fan of that than RTDs who

those who became fans of the show in the 21st centuary only became a fan because it came back in 2005

also dr who has many meanings and one is dr who= change

  18. Posted by: CG April 16th, 2010 Reply

    To Koquillion

No i would not (and did not) say that back in 2005. Who HAD to change then to be in with a chance of working. RTD did and made the right choices, by looking at things like Buffy and other shows that Who needed to compete with (on a world wide scale)and making Doctor Who into the huge hit it is today.

Things have to progress, regressing to the past can be a dangerous thing to do, especially in this day of advanced kids who expect more then a leap in to the past.

With these new Daleks I have a theory that they will be the ‘leaders’ of each division, and that the ‘RTD’ gold Daleks will be the fighting force. At least that is what I hope. If i saw one of those coloured ones heading my way I think I would laugh. They do not look threatening at all. Now the gold ones on the other hand you can beleive and see the menace in them.

not so long ago would you have posted:

RTD is intent on making this new series a rehash of the Cushing movies. Tardis interior (with police box doors visible on the inside, just like the movies) and now Bernard Cribbins flying about in the TARDIS. What next?

I’m not being petty here, just pointing out that elements from the movies have been used before and will probably be used in the future. Like using a movie Dalek in “Day of the Daleks”…..

  21. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 16th, 2010 Reply

On the point of the slats not being there. If you look back to the original Daleks, they never had them. It may be because of them only being able to run on metal back then but still.

the daleks can travel without slats because they have bigger base like the 60s daleks

  24. Posted by: TC April 15th, 2010 Reply

But the ratings aren’t declining. They were down from the week before but it was still the most watched show of the day with an AI index of 86 (excellent). Just because the total number of viewers might be lower doesn’t mean it’s declining. You have to look at it as a whole.

  25. Posted by: Cushy Dalek April 15th, 2010 Reply

I thought the slats were supposed to be the Daleks solar power source, perhaps they have a new idea now.

  28. Posted by: TC April 15th, 2010 Reply

So, the new colors are indicative of their position: Supreme, Scientist, Strategist, etc. Makes sense.

    @ derek:

Who says they have to have slats? Their technology can advance and improve. Heck, before 2005′s “Dalek” they didn’t have personal force fields, nor could their entire top half rotate.

  29. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 15th, 2010 Reply

For all those who want to know, the colour schemes goes as such:
    Red Daleks=Drones
    Orange Daleks=Scientists
    Blue Daleks=Strategists
    White Dalek=Supreme Dalek
    Yellow Dalek=Eternal Dalek

So all the tv listings books showing stills of the multi coloured Daleks with Matt Smith and obviously taken from the epiosde is all one big joke then… Think not. Interviews, pictures from the episode all point to the FACT that the Daleks are being made into a multi coloured hash up…

    1. Some time has elapsed between episodes.
    2. The ‘Daleks’ are known as ‘Ironsides’ and were apparently the invention of Professor Edwin Bracewell (guest star Bill Paterson).
    3. The Ironsides are completely harmless beings and have the ultimate aim of helping the British, under the guidance of Winston Churchill (guest star Ian McNeice), to win the war.
    4. Hailing from the 21st Century, Amy knows all about the Daleks, right? Right?!
    5. Winston really wants something from The Doctor.
    6. “We shall return to *** *** **** and ***** *****.”
    7. Amy: “Ever fancied someone you know you shouldn’t?”
    8. Star Wars.
    9. There are not only army-coloured Daleks, but multi-coloured Daleks too.

so how come they appear in stills from the episode in other TV listings books. Notably TV & Satelite Weekly. Also various interviews with Mark Gatiss say that the colur ones ARE in the episode.

  62. Posted by: JR April 14th, 2010 Reply

    @All.

Only the white dalek will feature in the episode. These colour daleks are not to denote rank, but to denote political affiliation. Red for labour, blue for tory. It’s just an ‘election fever’ thing. The coloured daleks are photomanipulations of the white one. I’m aware that there ARE colours for daleks. But these are just special manipulations for the RT: that is all.

  63. Posted by: CG April 14th, 2010 Reply

To evitc, Nope they are clearly seen in stills from the episode. The Daleks are full colour traveties of there former selfs.

I think the last thing on the minds of a race hell bent on domination is a gaudy colur scheme.

The gold daleks looked the part, you could really see the evil intent and brashness of that race in that design.

Moffat is intent on turning the show into the Peter Cushing movies (which are NOT canon)he is quoted as saying that is where the new outer design for the TARDIS was from.

  64. Posted by: booboo April 14th, 2010 Reply

I think everything is taking a different direction, to be honest a lot of the changes are no more radical than in 2005, I mean just look how much the Tardis console changed for the classic series. The series needs bold and fresh ideas to keep the interest alive – and its certainly doing that.

I think when we actually see these Daleks in Action a lot of people views views may change.

The Daleks remind me of the old toys you used to be able to get that looked like Daleks but wern’t. Terrible terrible choice of design. The RTD era Daleks looked like they could kick ass, these look like they would be better suited with feather dusters instead of plunger and gun!!!

  99. Posted by: Joe April 12th, 2010 Reply

I hope there are loads of these daleks in the episode, theyre a modern take on the classic supreme daleks. we dont just want ONE WHITE ONE! we want MILLIONS OF DIFFERENT COLOURS!

    roll on the new daleks

  100. Posted by: AlphaOmega April 12th, 2010 Reply

Last of The Time Lords – OH! Thank God for that! Thanks for that info!!!

  101. Posted by: AlphaOmega April 12th, 2010 Reply

Thse models might still be supreme Daleks. Y’know, like a Dalek Council. Like in The Daleks.

    OOOH IT’S EXCITING ISN’T IT
the daleks are in practically EVERY SERIES FINALE so hopefully now that they have been in this series, they won’t return until after next year.:-D:-)

  106. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 12th, 2010 Reply

Oh right. I do apologise. The idea does sound good though. If it had blue hemispheres, white gunbox and fender and the rest red…that would be good.

  107. Posted by: BooBoo April 12th, 2010 Reply

Thats what i mean, i dont think there is union jack clad one ( although it might look good )

  108. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 12th, 2010 Reply

I didn’t mean a red, white and blue one. I meant three different Daleks with the colours separately.

  109. Posted by: BooBoo April 12th, 2010 Reply

I think the assortment of colours is anyone’s guess at the moment.

But I have know doubt there is a Red white and Blue one.

  110. Posted by: The 2nd Doctor April 12th, 2010 Reply

    Oh may giddy Aunt

We had these colour Daleks in my day, but as it was in B/W you couldn’t tell.

  111. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 12th, 2010 Reply

There is apparently a small chance of there being a blue and red one to go with the British theme, but I doubt it highly. And according to this webiste there might be an orange one but I seriously doubt that as well.

  112. Posted by: ghgh April 12th, 2010 Reply

that makes me feel alot better if they are only white then i will cope with the wierd shape.

  113. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 12th, 2010 Reply

Oh, and by the way everyone, the Daleks that have been coloured Yellow, Blue and Red aren’t actually going to be used in the episode. It will only be the white that will be used. They have been coloured Yellow, Blue and Red because of the General Election. Yellow for Liberal Democrats, Blue for Conservatives and Red for Labour. IT IS JUST THE WHITE ONE!

  114. Posted by: sgw1992 April 12th, 2010 Reply

does that mean lots of dalek action figures like different colours and army one maybe the gold one seen in screen shots =]

  115. Posted by: BooBoo April 12th, 2010 Reply

you need to wait till you see them in action, i have heard the story is brilliant.

  116. Posted by: TC April 12th, 2010 Reply

Hm, interesting… Not a completely radical redesign, but then the Daleks are one of those icons from the show you wouldn’t want to tamper with too much.

And to those who’ve complained, yes you can have your opinion, but stop to think a minute first.
    A) The redesign could from a practical standpoint, give the operator inside more room.
    B) This could be a one story deal and we never see these Daleks again. We just don’t know yet.

It certainly doesn’t merit a reaction like ‘Ugh, it’s ruined and I’m never watching again.’

  117. Posted by: Jazpyy April 12th, 2010 Reply

NOOOOO please no, I HATE them. They are tacky, nasty and not nice at all. I have loved the daleks with a passion since I can remember, and now they just died.

  118. Posted by: mechas8n April 12th, 2010 Reply

    Cool! Movie Daleks!

  119. Posted by: Peter April 12th, 2010 Reply

Love them or hate them, this episode is going to be fantastic, I predict the best Dalek story since time began

  120. Posted by: YT April 12th, 2010 Reply

I think we need to wait and see them on screen, I think they are going to look awesome in action.

  121. Posted by: Last of the Timelords April 12th, 2010 Reply

I wouldn’t say they are too bad, the back sticking out is a bit odd but everything in the show is changing, so this is just a futuristic impression on Doctor Who. I like it.

  122. Posted by: Charlie April 12th, 2010 Reply

Ergh! They’ve got hunchbacks! Why stray so far from an excellent design?

  123. Posted by: The Yellow Dalek April 12th, 2010 Reply

I really wish there had been kept under wraps until the episode airs – unless there is something even bigger we don’t know about

  124. Posted by: ghgh April 12th, 2010 Reply

i do actually agree they dont look kothat bad apart from the fact there like really wide and i hate the colours

  125. Posted by: Robert April 12th, 2010 Reply

The new daleks are cool yet wierd because they have very thick wepon holders

  126. Posted by: someone April 12th, 2010 Reply

some daleks are the ones similar to 2005 but there are new ones as well, how does that work? i guess we have to find out in about 5 days.

  127. Posted by: ghgh April 12th, 2010 Reply

i absalutely hate them, im sorry but moffat has just ruined doctor who for me for ever.

  128. Posted by: Anonymous April 12th, 2010 Reply

  130. Posted by: drwho number1 fan April 12th, 2010 Reply

i think davros is coming back. ‘coz when theres a new type of dalek theres davros. davros is the creator of all differnt types of daleks

  131. Posted by: dr what April 12th, 2010 Reply

some are new design but some of them are the same

  132. Posted by: Joe April 12th, 2010 Reply

I like them. they would be better if they didnt have their back ends sticking out so much. so mixed ideas. :( :)

  133. Posted by: AlphaOmega April 12th, 2010 Reply

Ooh dear…not sure about these ones…

  134. Posted by: booboo April 12th, 2010 Reply

    We only did the three.

  135. Posted by: the 1st doctor April 12th, 2010 Reply

    Wheres the yellow Dalek?

  136. Posted by: SL April 12th, 2010 Reply

They look a bit tacky.. :( I was expecting great things from Victory but to included daleks that look like they have been made on Blue Peter is a gigantic let down, I hope they appear better on screen

  137. Posted by: The New Daleks April 12th, 2010 Reply

Oh my, there is a blue one red one white one and a yellow one, they are totally different

  138. Posted by: the 1st doctor April 12th, 2010 Reply

The colour schemes remind me of The Movie Daleks from ‘Dr Who and The Daleks’

  139. Posted by: James April 12th, 2010 Reply

I cant wait to see them. this all sound awesome

  140. Posted by: AlphaOmega April 12th, 2010 Reply

In the words of the Daleks themselves:

    “What is hap-pen-ing!?”

  141. Posted by: Davros the 4th April 12th, 2010 Reply

Does this mean we are going to get to see the new Daleks?
