It’s certainly not a bad figure, I reckon it’ll go up by about 2 mill for the final figure.

Wait but I thought that Doctor who was dead….
Also bear in mind that this was the second most viewed show that night, where old episodes that used to get similar viewing figure would often not make the top 5. This just shows that people don’t really watch TV like they used to, so it’s even more amazing that they pulled this many viewers on a non-event (event being pilot, finale, or special) episode.
Furthermor, it was second to Strictly Come Dancing, which has no aging value beyond it’s original live air time due to the nature of reality/competition shows, whereas Doctor who can be watched any time and still be self contained, relevant and enjoyable meaning that general audiences won’t feel the need to watch it at it’s original airtime

If viewing figures can stay around the £7 million mark then that’s fantastic! Remember this is just the overnight figure as well! A great start so far! Let’s hope people stick around for the whole season!

Still a overall improvement from Series 10 though

For Capaldi’s start, it dropped from 6.8 million for ‘Deep Breath’ to 5.2 million for ‘Into the Dalek’. That’s around 76% of the original 6.8 million.

Here, it’s dropped from 8.2 million to 7.1 million. That’s around 87% of the original 8.2 million.

I’d say this is still encouraging so far. 🙂 Let’s just hope it doesn’t drop much more than that…

Viewing figures really aren’t as important as they were. Times have changed so much, what’s more important is the money who generates for the beeb, if that drops off then there will be a problem.

No surprise viewing figures have dropped off a bit. It’s whether they stay around 7 million, or drop off further.
