THE MONSTERS ARE COMING… DOCTOR WHO LIVE!

THE GALAXY’S FIRST ELEVEN REVEALED IN AN INTERGALATIC LINE UP

BBC Worldwide has today revealed the final 11 monsters that will be taking to the stage and touring the UK as part of the very first production of Doctor Who Live.

The out-of-this-world lineup includes The Doctors arch-enemies, the Daleks, as well as 10 of the best-loved and most terrifying monsters from the TV series including the Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Judoon, Silurian, Smilers, Winders, Scarecrows, Vampires, Clockwork Droids and Ood.

Taking in nine cities and 25 dates, Doctor Who Live kicks off in London at Wembley Arena on 8th October, and will visit Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff and Liverpool, culminating in Belfast on the 7th November.

Based upon the BBC’s smash-hit, award-winning series Doctor Who, and developed in association with Doctor Who’s Executive Producer and show runner, Steven Moffat, the new stage show, promises to deliver a spectacular audio/visual experience featuring live music, special effects and appearances from the show’s most popular monsters.

Doctor Who Live promises the same excitement, adventure and suspense that viewers have come to expect from the TV programme and will feature specially filmed new video scenes.

Steven Moffat said: “This is everything I ever wanted since I was eleven. A live show, with all the coolest Doctor Who monsters, a proper story, and brand new screen material for Matt Smith’s Doctor! I’ll be writing scenes for it, and probably attending every single night!”

Opening in wartime London and concluding in an epic onstage battle, audiences should expect the unexpected as the The Doctor’s arch-enemies the Daleks are joined by some of the best-loved and most terrifying monsters from the TV series including the Cybermen, Weeping Angels, Judoon and Oods to name but a few.

Specially edited video clips, drawn from the TV Programme will be shown on a massive screen and accompanied by the music of longtime Doctor Who composer Murray Gold. These iconic scores will be brought to life by a 16 piece orchestra live on stage.

Murray Gold said: “The live element always adds something extra, but these will also be brand new arrangements for a new band of very talented musicians. It’s very exciting.”

Doctor Who Live has been conceived as a fully immersive music and monsters spectacular. Please note that Matt Smith will be appearing on Video Screen.

Hi, I bought one ticket via credit card and one through tesco clubcard over a month ago now. I have received one ticket by credit card but not the other one. My nine year old son and I are due to go to the opening on Friday 8th and I have rung up tescos theatre ticket hotline several times and been treated dreadfully. They are saying there is nothing they can do at all and it is nothing to do with them that the other ticket has not arrived. I am so angry and devastated!!! I can’t go with one ticket and I don’t know what to do??? I do not have lots of money and this was a special treat for my son and it looks now like I have lost not only a ticket but I have paid over forty pounds for one that I probably can not use. I am so gutted and absolutely livid with tescos. I have rung up wembley arena who just refer me back to tesco theatre group. I cannot believe that this ticket cannot be tracked. My son is going to be absolutely devastated if he can’t go. He is an absolute massive fan, I can’t send him in on his own!!! :( Can anyone help me??? Kind Regards Claudia Mennell

Its basically a stage show that tells story, its all live and usually has special music and spectacular lighting effects. productions like this cost a lot of money to put but i suspect it will be well worth the price if you go to see it.

  30. Posted by: The Alliance July 2nd, 2010 Reply

In theory this will be good because all of the monsters (virtually), are in it :) also because the nearest one for me is in WEMBEEEERLLLY, i don’t live london though. I will have to, if i go, travel for a least 1 hrs or 1hrs and a half, that will be so boring because I have such a short :( But because the tv series has ended 4 now, so in oct, in wemberly it’ll keep me occupied! I hope i can get tickets!

I am not sure if we are going to be able to get to one of these yet but it looks fantastic

I’m going with a coach travel group in October. Hopefully there won’t be too many screaming children…

We have our tickets already for the glasgow show, as soon as they went on sale- front row. It just so happens that the first date in glasgow is on my sons’ 5th birthday, what a birthday surprise he is going to get to see all his favourite doctor who monsters!!!! ( and me too )

  37. Posted by: Trifles June 30th, 2010 Reply

I’ll have to go if I can still get tickets, I was lucky enough to get invited to the Children in Need concert in Cardiff a few years back, which was EXCELLENT! and now my 2nd eldest son is now a massive fan, although at that price it’ll just be me & him (that’s a quarter of the price of a Glastonbury ticket – and look what you get for that!) – In short: Got to go, but very steep in price!
