The Snowmen – New Christmas Special Trailer

The Snowmen – New Christmas Special Trailer

β€œChristmas Eve 1892, and the falling snow is the stuff of fairytales.

When the fairytale becomes a nightmare and a chilling menace threatens Earth, an unorthodox young governess, Clara, calls on the Doctor for help. But the Doctor is in mourning, reclusive and determined not to engage in the problems of the universe. As old friends return, will the Doctor really abandon humankind or will he fight to save the world – and Christmas – from the icy clutches of this mysterious menace?”

Off topic, but Ive had a great idea that the Doctor could have actually saved Amy and Rory in ‘The Angels take Manhatten’. Basicly –

Rory ends up being zapped by the Weeping Angel after spotting his name on a grave stone. The Doctor runs out of the Tardis after Amy calls out for him. The Doctor thinks about what has just happened, and then has a plan. He runs back into the Tardis, and returns with a small device which he tell Rory is a special locator beacon that can be traced through space and time. He tell her to blink so the Angel can send her back in time, and then press a button on the locator beacon so that he and and River can locate the beacon inside the Tardis, travel back through time to where the beacon is transmitting, and end up reunited with both Amy and Rory, preventing their eventual fate of living out the rest of their lives in the past . . . . simple !! πŸ˜€

Now I wonder if Steven Moffat had that idea and decided to go against it.

Oops, I ment to say “which he tell Amy is a special locator beacon that can be traced through space and time”, NOT Rory.

the doctor couldnt go back in time and save them as the timelines were too complicated seen as rory died twice on the same day and that was a paradox in its self. and as the doctor told amy once you read your future you cant change it thats why river broke her wrist to escape the angels grip.

they’ve filmed a mini episode (minisode) of how he comes back, and it will either be put online or on the dvd as a extra. he said this in the interview in DWM

It’s really strange – when you see the snowflakes in the official websites background or in DWM, they look like ordinary snowflakes, sort of pretty really. Then you see this trailer… And you only see them as snowflakes with eyes and mouths and you can never see it the same again!

Well if it is then it is not the first time that a building has been re-used in a Doctor Who story.

The building used for Platform 1 back in series 1 was reused a few times, such as series 5th Silurian 2 parter, and also in 1 episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures which I think was the Mona Lisa episode if I remember rightly.

So much for the “YETI” being in it, I told them not to make huge assumptions based on no real evidence, but they did.

    πŸ˜†

Besides, this looks WAY better and WAY scarier.

      December 14th, 2012 - 3:48pm

‘Them’ refering to fan’s who made assumptions that the Yeti where returning when they had not.

Personally I’m glad there not returning. I don’t think robots dressed in great big fur coats are scary what so ever, robot mummies from ‘Pyramids of Mars’ are scary, but not Yeti, they don’t frighten me one bit, I’d just face once and kick him in the happy sacks, simple πŸ˜€

      December 14th, 2012 - 8:15am

Clara Oswin is NOT Oswin Oswald from ‘Asylum of the Daleks’, shes a completely different character, Jenna herself said so on Children in Need when she and Matt where showing a prequel called ‘The Great Detective’ followed later by the trailer for the story.

then why is her sir name oswin?

    • doctorwhoone

      December 14th, 2012 - 3:54pm

As Ive theorized, ‘Oswin’ is what connects Clara Oswin and Oswin Oswald as relatives.

Clara Oswin could be Oswin Oswalds great great great great [several times more great] grandmother or some other female relation.

They are not the same person what so ever, merely two completely different female characters who are played by one very talented actress, in other words, Jenna is just doing the same thing what Freema Agyeman did some years ago, first by playing another character [Adeola] and then playing a related character who becomes the companion [Martha Jones]who is the previous characters cousin.

Blimey how many times do I have to keep mentioning this ? πŸ™

    • doctorwhoone

      December 14th, 2012 - 6:22pm

Forgot to mention earlier also that Oswin Oswald and Clara Oswin could not be the same woman anyway, because if Oswin was Clara, she would have recognize the Doctor in ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ and she never did, so she aint the same person.

    • Boodleoo

      December 14th, 2012 - 7:54pm

I’m with you when you say they’re two different people but they’re is no solid proof saying that they are. Until we see the episode there is no knowing Clara could be lieing like river did in the impossible astronaut. This could be after asylum of the daleks in clara/ oswins timeline etc etc the theories go on.

    • Boodleoo

      December 14th, 2012 - 7:57pm

My theory is this could be a new body in which Dalek oswin goes into which would explain her being a different person.

    • The fall of the eleventh

      December 15th, 2012 - 8:17am

Moffat would not put her there,so I bet they are the same,I bet Clara Oswin Oswald is made by the daleks to discover who the doctor is,I bet you will be wrong and I’m right, there obviously going to say there different, but the truth is there the same ,it is the main story arc this year

    • The fall of the eleventh

      December 15th, 2012 - 8:19am

they are the same character the freema anger man thing was tiny, this is Moffat,so they are the same, plus jenna was lying, you could easily tell, don’t believe everything you see, most of it is lies, thank you

      December 15th, 2012 - 9:33am

I hate the whole relatives idea it’s just so boring. Plus when they were presenting the children in need scene matt went ” and your definately not the same person” and she said “yes… definately not the same person. I think it’s safe to say Moffat has a plan comjng together.

      December 20th, 2012 - 5:55pm

@doctorwhoone….you couldn’t be more wrong. Rewatch that clip with Jenna Louise and Matt….she’s got a huge smile on her face, and is obviously trying to throw people off. It clearly worked in your case. You talk like you know for sure, but the reality is you have no clue until you’ve seen it. Your theories are perfectly sound, but a little bit too obvious in my opinion. If they just turn out to be relatives, that’ll be a bit of a letdown for me. So, let’s wait to see it first….it’s very possible that they are the same character…it’s also possible that they aren’t. We’ve been given no spoilers whatsoever!

If you mean at the beginning, then she is talking to the children she is the governess of and she is trying to help them, as they have nightmares! So I guess she is trying to sound gentle!
Personally I LOVE her voice, I don’t know why, I just do!

    • doctorwhoone

      December 12th, 2012 - 8:14pm

Yeah, she’s only talking like that to the children so they don’t end up having nightmares.

A soothing voice to help children sleep is always a good thing πŸ™‚

I quite like plucky female characters and don’t automatically think them to be irritating. What I find irritating is the kind of helpless continually screaming female character. Brrrr! Give me a cocky lady any day.

Why does Steven Moffat write all of his female characters as irritating and cocky? Clara is just another to add to the list

I do agree thou, River, Amy, Oswin and Clara are cocky, but I’m ok with that.

Put it this way – would you have ladies in the Tardis who are cocky from time to time ? or would you rather have ladies in the Tardis who just scream at everything left, right and centre ? πŸ˜‰
