Not really much of a back story as yet to The Fisher King.

So we all know Clara is leaving this series, but how do you want her to go? I would like to see her go by sacrificing herself to save the Doctor or something, basically I like her to die similar to Adric’s death in Earthshock… So yeah, Clara is the impossible girl and she was always meant to save the Doctor plus killing her off will a great her end to her story.

Perhaps a name unknown to newer Doctor Who fans, but to the rest of us specially during the Pertwee years is familiar. R.I.P. Derek Ware, taking his rightful and earned place in The Matrix of Gallifrey.

I felt the Fisher King could have been given more background, but as a two-parter, that’s probably the best episode I’ve ever seen.

Also, the pre-credits sequence… just wow! I’d love it if every time it was the Doctor talking to the audience.

That was super cool, it’s like the Doctor always tells stories to Clara but now it was so much more immersive because it was like he was talking directly to us!

Agree though, even though the Fisher King gave me the heeby jeebies, I’d love to see him in future episodes/learn more about his story.

A terrific episode, and a great two – parter !! I hope the consistency of this season continues in this form, as, for me, this has been the best Doctor Who for years !!

Felt obvious that the ghost Doctor was a hologram to begin win, otherwise he’d have been encountered at the start of the part 1 last week with the other ghosts.

Didn’t understand the opening of yesterdays episode thou, and forgive me for being blunt about asking this, but what has Beethoven symphony No.5 got to do with the story ?. Didn’t make any sense that.

Doctor Whi One – It had everything to do with the concept of the episode….he told that story to explain the paradox of time travel. If the time traveller had beethovens sheet music but it turned out that he became beethoven by using the sheet music that was already produced.then who actually wrote the music….translated to the episode… if the Doctor got the idea for his plan from the ghost hologram which was already programmed by the doctor in his own future, then who actually came up with the plan. Bootlace Paradox….as the Doctor said….Google it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Shaping up to be the best series in a long time. I know its early days and there are always 1 or 2 weak episodes in a series…but things will really have to fall apart for this series to end up disappointing.

I’ve always admired PC as an actor but even I wasn’t convinced of his style in the last series but he has really come into it now and I am loving 12…even Clara isnt irritating me anymore ๐Ÿ™‚

Great episode, this series is already miles better than the last one and I think the two-episode stories have helped a lot. I said last week that the Doctor was in the capsule ! I would however have liked to see a little more of the Fisher King. They obviously put a lot of effort into the design and costume, all for what was only a few minutes on screen.

    Loved every second.
Cass feeling the vibrations of the axe was a good touch, and I love the fact that the show portrayed her as a strong woman who was independent and able to look after herself.
Guitar theme was ace, as was the opening speech – I personally love all that Fourth-Wall-breaking stuff.

I completely agree. Throwing in Cass’ character was so important, and I loved the depth they gave to a guest actor/supporting character.

They threw in such great narrative aspects in this episode! The breaking of the Fourth Wall, the fact that the character with the disability was actually one of the strongest and most resilient, and of course all the timey wimey stuff I can’t live without. All in all the entire two parter was so deep (no pun intended), and I can’t wait for more in the remainder of the seasons

Great acting and great overall production values. But I felt this episode was a bit too convoluted, and would have lost a few viewers attention. Nevertheless, a very good two-parter. I still prefer the Dalek opening story, but this was okay. 7/10
