It’s entirely up to the individual if you respect my comments or not. Face the Raven was a budget-restrained episode where Clara ( born to save the doctor ) met a poor, whimpering death whilst the doctor just looked-on like a spare part at a wedding!! Not even a word or attempt to save her!!! And Cybermen are emotionless warriors afraid of nothing – not even the Daleks ( Doomsday, anyone? ). To seek sanctuary means to be afraid/ in fear of something persuing you – which infers running scared and EMOTIONS!! The Cybermen have been constantly diluted over the years and I can hear the scriptwriter/ Mr Moffatt now…” Ooooh, let’s use a Cyberman in the street scene.. and an Ood….oh, and lets bung in a couple of judoon just for good measure….they add absolutely NOTHING to the story, but at least it LOOKS good and distracts evvabody from that black budgie ( sorry, raven ). ” A lack-lustre episode even by dr who standards. There’s one good thing at least…..since the 2005 reboot we’ve had 13 episodes a series, then 12 episodes… and next year ( due to the stresssssss ) we’re being treated to just 6 new episodes – so there’ll be even LESS for us all to disagree about on screen!!!!! Can things get any worse ….. what do you think?????????

This bit about 6 eps is unconfirmed. Moffat wants 12. Capaldi said it MIGHT be less. And if you actually read the comments, you’ll know we aren’t ALL arguing. Its just the long blown ranters who are so content on wrecking everybody’s experience of the episodes.

I quite beg to differ, I think that was a really good 50 minutes. Okay I see how people might have been left feeling a bit bleugh from the huge alien convention anonymous setting, but I think it was okay if you overlooked that fact.

As of the death of Clara Oswald. No words. I knew for weeks that it was coming in episode 10 but this was just cruel. And I really don’t understand why it was so sudden. One minute they were like “yeah we’re gonna save the world, all we need is rigsy’s chronolock” and the next minute, bam, Clara’s dead on the street.

And I get the fact she was supposed to die but please, a bit more fight from The Doctor. It tore my heart open when he was beginning to run forward and decided against it, watching Clara’s motionless body on the ground. I’ve gotta say, even dead, she STILL looks to die for. No pun intended. So yeah. I just can’t do this. Her death was sad.

Essentially, Clara just got her innards pecked apart by a passive pigeon, but hey, what better way to go than that.

Peace out Clara and remember us, cuz we’ll remember you, for sure. I just hope you don’t end up with cyber Danny in cyber heaven cuz his face is meh but his personality is

It’s a shame you didn’t get to celebrate your birthday.

Great episode. Capaldi was fantastic towards the end. The bubbling rage beneath his skin was a thing to be feared.

I thought this episode was fantastic, one of the highlights of this series.
Clara’s death was very well thought out. It makes perfect sense for her to have died through trying to think like the Doctor, and as a result of them both getting too full of themselves on their thrilling adventures where everything always turns out alright.
This tragedy is something unlike anything I have seen in the show. An example of how innocent miscommunication and self-confidence can lead to great consequences.
I also loved the whole trap street setup.

Oh dear, Where to begin? Another mediocre dr who story with a drawn-out plot and poor writing. Most of the actors looked bored to death and the two-faced aliens have been used before with the Smilers and Matt Smith. Fully expected Clara to go out ‘with a bang’ by saving the day/ saving the doctor etc. but all we got was a poorly executed demise with her just ‘ standing there ‘ after a convoluted speech…. and the doctor just also ‘standing there’ not saying a single word while it happened in front of him!?!?!!!! Just NOT believable or good drama. Jenna deserved so much BETTER!!! It’s as though the B-List writers simply do not ‘ geddit ‘ and Mr Moffat is approving the most ridiculous of storylines that are full of inconsistencies and plot- holes. No wonder that Series 8 and Series 9 have haemorrhaged viewers and ratings. Yet again more ludicrous scenes – WHY does a Cyberman need sanctuary??? This series has been FULL of throwaway gimmicks/ scenes/ lack of continuity/ etc.etc.etc.etc. Hope the finale makes some sort of sense – but I wouldn’t bet on it……….

as with the very poor exit that was given to matt smith because he quit, jenna has had the same fate a very poor exit, hardly any emotion by the current doctor for the girl who was born to save the doctor was killed by a raven! I wonder.i felt like I was watching a low budget episode from the 80s with cheap sets,oh dear, can It get any worse, sadly I think it can as ratings are dropping fast.i hope the bbc get a grip as this was a brilliant show over the last few years since being rebooted.sadly I think this doctor is rubbish,it should have been david morrisey as the new doctor or hugh laurie, perhaps next time hopefully very soon.

I knew it was coming and I,ll miss clara, more so as ‘The impossible girl’ but I feel they dragged those final scenes out( that raven seemed to take an eternity to reach clara unlike its previous victim and how long was that street?), and why,ll emotional it lacked that gutpunch that so resonated with say the death of the ponds and even Adric. Imagine if they,d had the clara dalek killed by the doctor in the penultimate episode that would have been a shock to the system. As it was a definite improvement on last week, and claras swansong I can forgive any little inconsistencies.

I enjoyed this episode, and always appreciate Peter Capaldi, especially when he given the opportunities to be dramatic, with all its subtleties. Maisie Williams’ character got a little more developmental room, and I enjoyed it more than the previous two appearances (largely due to the story qualities, or lack there of.) I thought it was ironic that Clara, after so often seeing her as the be all and end all – at the centre of the universe, in this episode, after lording it up over Riggsy, out-smarted herself that lead to he demise. However, the story and thread narratives, plus the scenes, were well played out by all, and gave the episode a resonance it may have lacked with a happy bookshelf ending. Good stuff, looking forward to the finale(s).

It’s as if Steven Moffatt can write the greatest single stories, but can’t handle the show as the show-runner at all. Writing has just been horribly inconsistent and downright awful the past few years (as mirrored by the incredible decline in viewership/ratings in the UK; (although u.s. viewership is increasing) hence a possibility of hiatus/cancellation in the next 2-3 years). Clara’s character shifted to however they needed it in every episode. Go back and watch each of her episodes – there is almost no character development; rather molding the character to fit the stories. Lazy writing, by a slew of poor writers. Seeing this episode, while not the worst of the series this year, just further demonstrated the failure of proper character development and skilled narrative writing.

      This is my theory

In the final episode “HELL Bent” the doctor will try to save Clara by going to another dimension (perhaps omegas but I sadly doubt it) where you travel to after you die and do other things such as work at a bar (real hell not a missy mock-up) and he will find Clara and Danny who may have a son or daughter who may be orsons great grandad or grandmother. He will promise about taking them home but Danny will say he cannot because he died on earth (but maybe in a better way then that.) Clara will say something like this:
“I had my life on earth, a life of shopping and school and noisy concerts and running around after or away from monsters.
But now I have this life that is the same in many ways, but at least in this life I have Danny and a family to look after and take round town and shop with. Doctor don’t ever beat yourself up this wasn’t your fault. It was mine I chose to save Rigsy,to save his family. Don’t be hard on Ashildr either she couldn’t change it and neither can you. Thank you doctor for the planets and monsters, thank you for a wonderful life and for being the best friend in any universe could even begin to dream of. Thank you. Go now doctor go and see planets battle the monsters and Villians but take someone with you. Show them the wonders of the universe and the terrors too. Go and live your life but don’t forget me. Go and be the only thing you can ever be, be the doctor.”
He shall then return to this universe for christmas day.
A christmas he won’t forget. A christmas with a Song.

Yeah that was a good episode, nice way to see Clara off, the show has been all about her for far too long. She was a good companion though but the time was right for her to go. She’s been saving the world for far too long, that’s the Doctors job!

I’m wondering if Ashildr/me is working for Missy and Davros who both want to know what is in the Doctors confession dial. I think Missy might turn out to be the time lord/Dalek hybrid and next time we see Missy I suspect she’ll have one of those Dalek eye stalks in her head?

I loved Peter Capaldi’s fierce face when he was telling Ashildr to stay out of his way after Clara died. They also could’ve explained why all those aliens were hiding on Earth as refugees though, why would a Cyberman need refuge? Also, the 2 face thing has already been done with the Smilers.

    7/10 from me.

I stand by my theory that she lives forever as impossible girl splinters and that’s why she will undoubtedly return wearing a waitress’ uniform in Hell Bent.

Great episode though, and there are comparisons to be made between the exit of Clara and that of the third Doctor (as related by those who made the show in 1974), in which a growing negative trait becomes the character’s downfall.
