Doctor Who – What Did You Think of Hide?

What Did You Think of Hide?

Clara and the Doctor arrive at Caliburn House, a haunted mansion sat alone on a desolate moor.

Within its walls, a ghost-hunting professor and a gifted psychic are searching for the Witch of the Well. Her apparition appears throughout the history of the building, but is she really a ghost? And what is chasing her?

Now that the 4th episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

Good story up to last 3 mins….ending ruined it.

shame really. Not a satisfying ending. Why was the monster laughing in the woods if he was trying to get home. Why not just walk up to the doctor and be friendly instead of scaring him. It would have had a better chance of getting home. The doctor seemed to understand what was happening very quickly after bieng clueless not minutes before.
Why didnt the tardis just land so they could get in at the end. Jumping on a rapid spinning moving object would be VERY dangerous. Big drop of quality from last weeks episode.

I totally agree. It would’ve been fine if they just cut the last 3 minutes. It ruined the terror the episode gives, and makes no sense in terms of what happened next. It feels like some hack taped that on the end of a great story just to ruin it. Neil Cross did a good job with The Rings of Akhaten, I thought, but he majorly failed on the ending here.

This episode was good, but a lot more could have happened in the story. I will say I was scared a few times. But it seems with most episodes lately they just feel unfinished.

Don’t forget the Eye Of Harmony as well! Love these little nods to the past; they’re not too complex to alienate new and casual viewers but they still keep obsessive old school fans like me happy! Nice!

Aside from the ending of this story, I think Doctor Who is doing fantastically right now, and judging by the season so far, the 50th Anniversery looks to be fantastic!

All in all, a good episode. Not one of the best but still pretty good. Could do with Matt’s doctor not rushing around so much and running everywhere but that’s probably a bit “picky”. Not sure about Clara yet and the TARDIS not liking her- there’s obviously something to be revealed there.Chemistry between Matt and Jemma? Jury is out at the moment. Probably give Hide 6.5/10

It was Jenna’s first episode she filmed for the series, so the writer didn’t really know how to write her character and relationship with the doctor, so I think it is quite a good try to be honest, especially the scene with the umbrella!

it was a quite good episode. the doctor and clara are great together, jess rain and… the other guy were very good in the story, and the creepiness was really good, but I don’t know if I liked the whole monster/ love element because it got silly at the end with ‘romeo.’ I think it would’ve been better if they were both lost. part of me would’ve liked the whole thing to be an evil alien trying to get into the world but they are flickering through time or something. having it as a time traveller was slightly random and that could’ve been done better. it had good structure and the first half was better.

this episode wasern’t a good episode but then again it wasern’t bad. there where some good parts like the continuaty references( although matt smith pronounces Metabelis wrong its prounounced met-a-bee-lis and the ending kinda rewind thefeel of thie episode the idea that the monster’s plot was to get back so that he can( lets just say reverse the polarity of the nutron flo) with that other monster yuck. The acting was good. I give this episode a 4/10 only because I felt this story went nowhere

A massive step up on the series so far. Great to see a return of the crystal from Metabelis 3, although Matt Smith did pronounce it wrong… Slightly creepy at the beginning, although all of the stuff about the creepiest episode ever was a complete lie. Didn’t detract from my personal series highlight so far. Journey to the centre of the TARDIS looks very interesting, looks to be some developments in the relationship between Clara and the Doctor.

Because it has a large fan base and an awful lot of fans. It usually gains about 26% of the TV audience, which is quite a lot if you thing about how many shows are on TV! Yes it gets criticism but it has a larger community of loving fans, and nearly 50 years of history! The start of this episode was long and boring (the Ghostbusters line was too cheesy) but the second half was ok! isn’t an episode I would watch again, but in the second half it was enjoyable. I give it 6/10 🙂 and yea, the metebelis thing was annoying, you think they would have told him how to say it! 😀

    • Lee Adams (Dalek Tales creator)

      April 21st, 2013 - 11:51am

well Sylvester got spirdon wrong in remembrance of the daleks, it was annoying but im sure during read through he was told how it was said but on location during the shoot it probably wasn’t even thought of, remember only production crew and directors are on location. Moffat and the writer arnt there to say “hang on that’s not how its said”, its recorded quickly and mistakes can happen. so i will let it pass as i know how easy this can happen from first hand experience.

I really don’t think it’s a big issue that he pronounced it wrong. I wasn’t that dirfferent from normal, I didn’t blink at all when I heard it, I just enjoyed hearing it. Maybe actually it was Pertwee’s doctor who was pronouncing it wrong and he recently just learnt the proper pronunciation of it!
