Anonymous, the audience score of 24% does show a lot, it shows that there are a large portion of people who don’t like the way the show is currently, I do think a small percentage are hating just to hate but that is a small percentage, I’m sorry your friend got attacked for posting a positive view, but people on the negative get attacked as well, as the positive side. I have noticed this when is comes to certain dr who youtubers who voiced their justified opinion against the new series and get attacked for it. I have also noticed people on the positive side telling others if they don’t like the way doctor who is going get the …. out of the fandom. The causal viewers and the new fans are the people who are most likely going to see it, because they don’t fully understand what is happening to show or have watched its rich history. IMO, I have given Jodie as chance, but she has failed, she feels like a cheap copy of Matt and David, and the way she talks about classic who is disrespectful, I feel this type of genre doesn’t suit her and chibnall is easy one of the worst showrunners dr who has ever had, he might be a fan, but he doesn’t have a clear understanding of what the show needs and what it doesn’t, at least with Moffat he gave some good seasons, and even in the season that are bad he sometimes gave a great episodes. Also I do think doctor who should be put on hold for a couple of years, as right now it’s not even a shadow of what is used to be.

Was just looking at remembrance of the daleks on Amazon for my nephew. The reviews calling it rubbish are fascinating as they are pretty much the same type of thing being trudged out now! McCoy was rubbish the story terrible ect ect. Some things never change.

Anonymous, yes there were. 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010 all had Daleks. 2011 had a Dalek in the wedding of riversong. 2012 also had Daleks. 2013 had daleks in the specials. 2014 had a Dalek in series 8, 2015 also had Daleks, 2016 had the specially filmed segment introducing Pearl Mackie that included a Dalek. And 2017 also had Daleks. So 2018 from beginning to end has been the only year since 2005 where a Dalek hasn’t appeared on television in a new episode or segment filmed by the bbc

Why will Brexit affect funding at the BBC? The viewing public pay for this service yearly and it is a criminal offence not to do so. Look at what they are paying for a new set just around the corner of the old one in EastEnders. The BBC can find money they just don’t use it wisely.

Most people I speak to whom I would consider casual and not fans have not been watching this new series or certainly including it on any “should see” list and I have tried to encourage them positively regardless of what I say on this site. I have watched in the hope that episodes improve and the actors and writers find a good interpretation of the what makes Who work. I have watched because this programme means so much to me. Hasn’t happened yet so please Chibnall listen to us as you have the experience surely to get this show on course. The viewers are all ages- many have been watching for a long long time and please do not alienate us.

In retrospect series 11 reminded me of the opening lines of A Tale of Two Cities ‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of Times’. After the Woman…Earths no show of opening credits i readily accepted, under showrunner Chris Chibnall, that this might be an altogether new beast which would throw away convention and those Steven Moffat Tropes but all the while keeping it fun, original and appeasing the over critical contingent ready and hunched over their keyboards, Knives sharpened.
Chris chibnall, Jodie Whittaker and the rest of the production Team need to sit and rethink there vision for series 12 as they appear to have pleased and alienated in equal measure and we need an almighty swing back to the more favourable.
For me, Jodie does have potential but she needs to dial back on those eager to please traits and mugging and more depth without resorting to being, at times, this wannabe, gormless leader of the pack.
Some of the writers need replacing with a few safe pair of hands on board to deliver a more pleasing package and quieten those dissenting voices who have had it in for jodie since the reveal. Also if they cannot come up with decent Alien Threats (of which have been few and far between this season), there is no shame in having to fall back on a few old adversaries to take the stress off and fill the gap.
I also have to concede that this TARDIS crew are not working as a cohesive whole with Tosin Coles’Dyspraxia Afflicted’ Ryan coming off worst and saddled with some really thankless dialogue, and Mandeep Gills, Yas, only really shining momentwas in Demons..Punjab, and now seemingly relegated to third passenger. Bradley Walsh’ Graham has been the only saving Grace(Pardon the Pun) but the last few stories seems to have been shoved him to the sidelines.
Also as a northerner myself, I was excited at the prospect of filming in Sheffield (of all the Places) but in hindsight i felt it was a tad incongruous and felt more like pandering to a ‘Northern’ doctor/ actor by setting it here.
As for the series itself there have been a few highlights and interesting ideas: The historicals i rather liked, exploding bubblewrap, The flesh Moths, The Bobbing Tardis Console and the Hilarious ‘Junkyard chic’ Dalek. Its just a shame they sat uneasily amongst some of this series worst episodes.
Lets just hope and prove there is a vast improvement come 2020.
PS-Please change those awful opening credits. It looks like an internal bowel movement.

24% on rotten tomatoes. Which is completely meaningless. As are the Amazon “reviews” as are all such things. Why? Simple. All these things have one thing in common, as boo boo has said on here most posts are from negative posters. Positive people tend not to post. A friend posted a positive review on Amazon for the series and then received numerous vile comments and numerous attacking reviews in response. If you only watch or read something based on review scores you are going to miss on lots of very good things. It’s trendy to hate stuff at the moment. Just try saying you like a film and you’ll get a whole bunch of people, most of whom will have not seen it, telling you why it’s the worst thing ever. If the BBC were to cancel the show due to the “fan” reactions on the net then I would hope they would all be very proud. We are very lucky to have got the show back but it will not be fans who stop the show being made it will be a lack of casual viewers. And it’s casual viewers who are watching the new show and enjoying it. I know this due to the number of people who are talking to myself and fellow who fans. Who will end again. It’s expensive to make. Brexit will have an impact on financial issues with the BBC as will the over 75 licences. Lots of programmes will be hit. Don’t be surprised if we end up with shorter series. But equally don’t be ridiculously angry. A shorter series would be better than none. As is a series you don’t like – because many other people do like it.

Chibnall wants to reflect the way the world is today which has nothing whatsoever to do with Doctor Who which is a fantasy sci-fi show and should not be used for political gain or make social statements on the views primarily held by reactionary writers at the BBC. This is not an appropriate use of this one-time wonderful programme. The Tardis can go anywhere at any time and I want to see adventure not this preachy stuff. I do appreciate some emotion in the programme and was pleased to see resolution between Ryan and his Dad but the pacing of the episode and where the emotional element was dealt with was out of sinc. All throughout this series they seem to stop the action (what little there is) mid-way and then go into the blah blah blah bit so I consider episodes badly edited. The BBC are ruining a lot of their programmes in this way. I think the BBC exists in its own little universe and truly do not live in the world most of their viewers live in. The current writers have no idea about writing sci-fi and neither does Chibnall. Jodie cannot act the role at all as far as I can see. Awful voice and weak characterisation. Go away and come back trying much harder in 2020 or sadly don’t come back at all. Not easy for me to say this last part.

Annonymous, stop it. One day the doctor will be a white man again and we’ll get off the ground again. I do hope they’ll take this opportunity to change the dalek design up again soon, it is just sick how fans exert so much control over one small element of the show. Back in 2010, i’d have kept the paradigm daleks and the modifications made to them in 2012, C’MON they had little more than 10 MINS of screen time, how could they be so brutal? Shame on these so called “fans” and moffat for caving in, have some backbone.
