What did You Think of Series 10 Episode 4 Knock knock ?
Now that the fourth episode of series 10 has been aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.
Bill is moving in with some friends and they’ve found the perfect house – so what if it’s strangely cheap to rent, and the landlord is a little creepy?
The wind blows, the floorboards creak, and the Doctor thinks something is very wrong. What lurks in the strange tower at the heart of the building – and why can’t they find any way to enter it?
The Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi, Bill by Pearl Mackie and Nardole by Matt Lucas. David Suchet guest stars at the Landlord.

May 7th, 2017 - 9:18pmTwo words: David Suchet. Apart from that this episode had a very nice creepy tone.
Alex Who?
May 7th, 2017 - 1:37pmNot a bad play on the haunted house concept. David Suchet was great as the landlord. Its a treat to have him on the show.

May 7th, 2017 - 11:43amI loved this espiode very much, the doctor was excellent trying to keep the students safe from harm, the caretaker played by David Suchet was excellent for he is such a very talented actor in all of his roles that he plays. I think that it is Missy playing the piano in the vault.

May 7th, 2017 - 11:34amTrust David Suchet to steal the show. The contrast between him and the actors “playing” the students was like night and day.
Putting aside the haunted house shtick, this has to be one of the better eps, at least until they ruined it at the end.
I couldn’t ignore the following plot conveniences.
Thunder and lightning that had nothing to do with anything, because…haunted house.
A human landlord that appears or disappears in an unexplained fashion, because…haunted house.
I don’t see how the restorations work. Surely the originals are dead and these are just exact copies. Even without that, it looked like a very cynical last-minute undo button to what was otherwise a good episode.
But, I wonder, if it didn’t have David, would it still have been a good episode?

May 7th, 2017 - 9:44amA steady start to this series, o’k-to-good, episodes, and that’s fine, cos the last series was very up and down, for me personally – great one minute, terrible the next.
This episode I thought was very good, to the point, and the story just got on with itself without clutter.
The incidental music set a nice tone too – and the actors all supported the story as well.
Good.
As to the vault, can’t say I am a big fan of these type of things (Pandorica – urgh), maybe The Master is in it – as the piano started playing again when The Doctor mention the house ate the kids (or however he put it) ,maybe he aint – but, happy to wait and find out.
Of course the next question is why is there someone/something in the vault, and how did it get there… and what is the significance of it …..
For pure idle speculation; Missy did mention the Doctor gave her a broach when her daughter was born in The Witches Familiar… Maybe Missy is the Master’s Daughter …. I dunno … Anyway, looking forward to a multiple Master story – if that is indeed the case !
In a nutshell, not a bad start to the series, good and solid, and enjoying it. Ta !!

May 7th, 2017 - 9:39amHeres my ranking of the first four episodes out of 10:
The Pilot: 6.5/10
Smile: 8.5/10
Thin Ice: 4.5/10
Knock Knock: 7.5/10
I thought that The Pilot was good, but it really just focused on Bill’s character, and the story was weak. I like to find out more about the companions personality each episode, not just in one go.
I loved Smile. I thought that the emoji robots were really cute and funny and Peters reaction to them was sooo funny.
I really didnt like Thin Ice. It was exactly the same story as The Beast Below, if not even weaker.
I didnt really like the ending of knock knock, but the rest of the story was really gripping!
Doctor909
May 7th, 2017 - 8:59amAn alright story just a shame it wasn’t more freaky and I didn’t really find the whole daughter to mother thing all that believable. However, it was by no means a horrifically bad story.
As for who I thinks in the vault, I think it has to be Missy. Definitely not John Simm’s Master as I don’t see him playing the Piano but I could definitely see it as Missy.
DannyTheNerd
May 7th, 2017 - 9:23amI agree, it is most likely missy. I think she is in episode 6, and its been said we will find out who is in the vault in episode 6, so its most likely her
Ron
May 8th, 2017 - 6:54amNo way will it be missy
Pats86
May 7th, 2017 - 8:47amUnderwhelming if anything, potential was there but yet again poor storyline let’s us down. Why is it that we continue to see the reset button pushed over and over again under Moffats show running? It has gone beyond a joke now!
As for the volt, it could well be Susan, the granddad references could be a clue, then again it may be a smoke screen. If it is The Master/Missy that would be underwhelming and I hope it isn’t.
This series has not got off to a great start so hopefully it will improve (Simms Master will see to that with any luck) having said that it is better than series 9, but it could be down to Clara not being in it.
Exterminator
May 7th, 2017 - 8:16amI’m a bit disappointed, this should’ve been a really good creepy episode that gave us all nightmares but it just didn’t work for me. The end was awful, I hated the wooden girl thing, they should’ve left her out completely and just had the crazy landlord feeding people to the bugs. What happened to the bugs anyway, did they all die when the house collapse? All the students should’ve stayed dead, the house ate them!!! Special effects were cool and the house was great but let down by a silly storyline.
Exterminator
May 7th, 2017 - 8:19amI was hoping the landlord was going to turn out to be another time lord. Especially when the Dr was looking at him funny and asking what year it was and who was prime minister. It was as though the Dr could see he was a time traveler. They missed a big opportunity there.

May 7th, 2017 - 6:05amThinking about it now, whoever is in the vault must be bound in some way. I mean they must have their arms free to tinkle those ivories but that’s about it because if they were free then the would then the doctors outlet be stupid enough to open the doors wide enough to put a piano in there.
All they would need to come club him over the head, Nyder style, and escape!

May 7th, 2017 - 2:37amI think Knock Knock will be the only not great below par episode of series 10. Probably will be my least favourite if this year but still much better than the worst eps of series 9, (Before the Flood & sleep no more). If this is the worst of this series, fantastic because there was plenty of this episode that I liked, just the ending was a bit of a letdown!

May 7th, 2017 - 7:44amPersonally, I think the weakest of the series might have been Thin Ice
Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey
May 7th, 2017 - 1:33amHere’s my ranking out of 10.
The Pilot – 8.5
Smile – 7
Thin Ice – 7.5
Knock Knock – 8
The Living Shadow
May 6th, 2017 - 11:45pmReally liked this episode! I especially loved the guy being frozen in mid-consumption by the wall, with his blank, twitchy eyes- Beautifully creepy bit of imagery!
Definitely think it’s Missy in the vault. I feel like in the next episode, the Doctor will find no one in the vault as Missy has somehow already escaped, so then he’ll find her a couple of episodes later, as I don’t think they’ll reveal what’s in the vault next week, and I think we know missy will appear in an episode in a couple of weeks. But I don’t know! (just a silly little theory)!
Doctor Stu
May 6th, 2017 - 11:25pmIs it just me who really didn’t like that episode, the cast were weak and it was so over hyped it didn’t live up to expectations at all, I was at least expecting it to be creepy, I think for me that’s probably my least favourite so far
Mr. J
May 6th, 2017 - 10:22pmI really hope the master isn’t in the vault, simply because it seems too obvious! I would love to be really shocked when they reveal who’s inside! In DWMthey said it would shock us, hope they’re right!
The Surgeon
May 6th, 2017 - 9:31pmSuchet was magical. Script was fun, cast was decent. I didn’t really get the last third but that’s probably because my dad came in loudly with some fish and chips. Wood woman looked excellent but was underused I thought and the alien woodlice I didn’t see the point of at all.
Overall, probably a 7/10 for me, but Suchet bangs it up to at least a 8 because he does.
The Pilot: 9
Smile: 8
Thin Ice: 9
Knock Knock: 8
Series 10 is off to a flyer – this and series 9 are the best I’ve seen this show in a long long time. Certainly best since the reboot in my opinion
DannyTheNerd
May 6th, 2017 - 8:52pmThe Pilot 6/10 ok episode nothing special
Smile 7/10 Lot better than I excepted, but still not that great.
Thin Ice 6/10 Just watchable. Didn’t really enjoyable.
Knock Knock 8/10 Pretty good episode. Best one of the season so far.
DannyTheNerd
May 6th, 2017 - 8:53pm*enjoy not enjoyable xD
Ron
May 6th, 2017 - 8:41pmI thought it was ok nothing special but still watchable, maybe Murray gold in the Vault! I reckon it’s his daughter.
Jordan Scott
May 6th, 2017 - 8:36pmSo far:
The Pilot: 8/10
Smile: 6/10
Thin Ice: 6/10
Knock Knock: 7/10
Since I’m that used to not being surprised in Doctor Who, I’m sticking with saying that the Master is in the vault due to the way the doctor talks to him like a brother or friend.
Mr baked bean
May 6th, 2017 - 8:32pmI think to obvious to be master as it’s moffats last series probably river song.
Tim M
May 6th, 2017 - 8:29pm‘Knock Knock’ was a great story and gripping throughout. David Suchet stole the show as the Landlord. Certainly shaping up to be Capaldi’s best series. But what is in the vault? The fact it was playing the piano and the Doctor opened the vault makes it more tantalising.
Demdike@CultLabs
May 6th, 2017 - 8:27pmA decent episode let down by a rushed ending. The use of the reset button again is becoming annoying. Suchet excellent.
Tim M
May 6th, 2017 - 8:22pmIt’s probably Sherlock Holmes in the vault?!?!?!
Mark Belsom
May 6th, 2017 - 8:15pmThink it’s to obvious to be the Master behind the doors,I still reckon it’s another doctor.
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 8:18pmWhy would he want to know a story about bad things
Simon W
May 6th, 2017 - 8:21pmThey say we will find out in episode 6 who or what is behind the door.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
May 6th, 2017 - 8:23pmIndeed. Though interestingly, the next episode is the 1st one with Nardole in the actual adventure – so who’s guarding the vault? There’s got to be a reason for his change in attitude there. Maybe it’s not a 3-part story coming up but almost a 4 part story…
The Temporal Jelly Baby
May 6th, 2017 - 8:15pmAnother good episode in what has so far been a good series! And David Suchet was of course great as the landlord. So far in series 10…
The Pilot: 8/10
Smile: 6/10
Thin Ice: 8/10
Knock Knock: 7.5/10
prototype dalek
May 6th, 2017 - 8:17pmAgreed, David was really good as the Landlord and I really hope my next landlord and student accommodation isn’t like that 😉
The Temporal Jelly Baby
May 6th, 2017 - 8:24pmAs do I!
Revised score for Knock Knock: 7/10.
I decided to move it down 0.5 after realising plot flaws.

May 6th, 2017 - 8:13pmThis episode should be called:
“Impossible try not to cringe challenge May 2017”
I’m going to go watch Pyramids of Mars…
Run you clever boy
May 6th, 2017 - 8:12pm100% the Master/Missy in there probably both because who else likes stories about people getting eaten by bugs
prototype dalek
May 6th, 2017 - 8:12pmDark, makes a nice change as well. Got to be the Master In their
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 8:09pmWell it doesnt rule out the master from being in the vault but does make it unlikely. I think its either missy, susan or someone the doctor loves, trusts or cares for
The Temporal Jelly Baby
May 6th, 2017 - 8:12pmInteresting theory, but why would the Doctor lock them in a vault?
The Temporal Jelly Baby
May 6th, 2017 - 8:12pmOh, but it wasn’t the Doctor, was it? He made an oath…
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 8:17pmExactly and if he goes against it somthing happens that affects someone. He trys to make it as commfortable for them in return
r1ch1e
May 6th, 2017 - 8:08pmDefinitley the Master in that Vault!!
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 8:09pmI dont know about that. Why does he have a piano
therealwhovian63
May 6th, 2017 - 8:10pmI too believe the master might be in their but i thought they might be less friendly too eachother
