Exterminator
April 25th, 2017 - 12:10pmOk episode, I liked the futuristic setting and the relationship between the Dr and Bill but I thought the robots that kill you if you’re not happy story was a bit silly.
This episode is another example of where the show could be so much better if they just showed a bit of gore and blood when people die. This was like kids tv and I’d like it to be more adult. I know it’s a family show but it’s got to be scary otherwise you might as well put it on for kids after school.
Make it scary, make it dark, make it good!
Borg
April 25th, 2017 - 2:53amIt was OK for my i didn’t really like the ending.
The Living Shadow
April 24th, 2017 - 5:21pmA decent episode. A very solid, decent episode. Not the kind of decent episode that’s poorly written, with some good moments, or cool visuals, which redeem it a little, like we’ve been seeing a lot these days in Doctor Who. To me this was a genuinely solid, and well written decent episode!
Alex Who?
April 23rd, 2017 - 10:16pmThis one didn’t work for me.
Its a shame as Peter and Pearl are great together.
Doctor Stu
April 23rd, 2017 - 4:55pmIt looked so promising at the start I thought the episode might be quite dark but then the wheels fell off half way through and it never really recovered. bit like the entirety of series 9
Random Critic
April 23rd, 2017 - 12:44pmFields of wheat, as far as the eye can see, and what’s on the menu? Algae. Lol!
Oh, and the TARDIS is doing that “whizzing through space” thing again. When it implies some kind of take-off or landing sequence, for something that just de-materializes or materializes, why even bother? The vortex at least made some kind of sense. They could have easily had a votex with a fuzzy image of the planet Earth in the distance. Instead, they explain what the TARDIS is one week, only to throw that in the bin the following week.
The Surgeon
April 23rd, 2017 - 3:34pmI don’t follow you. What’s to say the Tardis hadn’t landed in space, so to speak, so you can see it flying through physical space as well
Whorules
April 23rd, 2017 - 7:30pmThe classic series often had the TARDIS whizzing through space
catnip
April 23rd, 2017 - 1:10amSo the writer who came up with In The Forest of the Night wrote Smile as well? Where the hell was such a good story like Smile then when the abysmal former episode was made? Why give the lead role some enjoyable stories when they are departing?
The Moffat Paradox
April 23rd, 2017 - 12:46amThought this might be a more silly episode but I was pleasantly surprised.
JasonisnotaRobot
April 22nd, 2017 - 11:21pmAnyone else think the engine was just a washing machine?

April 22nd, 2017 - 11:20pmThought all those tombs were Cybermen for a minute, imagine that twist
r1ch1e
April 23rd, 2017 - 7:35amGood Lord what a theory!! They could still be actually, cybermen to keep the human race going in some form
KORSAIR
April 22nd, 2017 - 11:11pmI quite liked it, thought it was very Twilight Zone ish.
Spamella
April 22nd, 2017 - 10:33pmThis storyline had a lot of strong emotions between the Doctor and Bill and the robots was very good.
Tim M
April 22nd, 2017 - 10:16pmVery good episode. I actually felt it worked really well as a vehicle to show how the Doctor and Bill’s relationship developed. The second episode needed to be more about the two them. So it was good the guest characters were mostly sidelined, in a story that was both compelling and engrossing to watch. The ‘Emoji’ bots were effective and will be memorable foes. A much better story this time from Cottrell Boyce. 9/10.
Mick181
April 23rd, 2017 - 12:18amTotally agree Tim, good idea leaving Nardole out of this one (except for a cameo) so that the chemestry between the Doc & Bill can develop.
Dalekparadigm2
April 22nd, 2017 - 9:34pmReally quite good. A lot better than I was expecting. Even still, the emojibots turned out to be quite tame…again…

April 22nd, 2017 - 8:57pmI liked it! Okay, not brilliant or the best episode, but it kept me interested and I loved watching the doctor and Bills chemistry! Can’t wait for thin ice!
techruyc
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:56pmYea, really liked it, another decent episode from season 10.
Chaz
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:47pmI thought it was pretty underwhelming with a poor ending.I also not a fan of the vault arc, I’ve had enuff of these convoluted season long arcs. But still love the show!!!!
The Temporal Jelly Baby
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:52pmIt’s not especially convoluted at the moment. There’s something in the vault. That’s about the extent it goes to.
I understand your frustration with plot arcs though. The hybrid one had so much potential but was just ruined in Hell Bent to be honest.
The Surgeon
April 22nd, 2017 - 10:21pmYou should probably wait till the end of the series to say if it’s convoluted. It’s not particularly complex at the moment, and at least it’s more interesting than the Hybrid or Torchwood
The Outcast
April 23rd, 2017 - 9:44amThe Hybrid was the worst arc in the entirety of Who history. Seriously, this show is called Doctor who, not Doctor we-know-everything-about-you. Somethings aren’t meant to be seen or told On-Screen. But the Moffat comes in with Clara and decides to have be the be-all and end-all of Doctor Who. NO!!! No one has the right to do that. Yeah, sure we’ve had Lungbarrow, be there is a massive debate on whether its canon or not and its an amazing and inventive story (apparently, I’ve not had the fortune to read it). Also Hell Bent’s reason for why the Doctor Who is really, really stupid and seriously under-whelming.
The Temporal Jelly Baby
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:39pmThese could change, but so far in series 10…
The Pilot: 8/10
Smile: 6/10
Average score so far: 7/10
100,000BC
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:34pmI’m so glad the term “emoji-bots” isn’t actually canon. Good episode, too.
The Dalek Whovian
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:33pmI quite liked this episode it was light hearted but was also quite dark at the same time
Jordan Scott
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:31pmIt was just ok for me, nothing special but I’m liking the continuous mentioning of the vault as it’s got me very intrigued! I actually prefer it when Nardole is there as he creates a nice dynamic between the characters and has fantastic comic timing! 🙂
J0k3r
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:34pmNardole makes serious moment’s so awkward and takes the drama out. Imagin the final with him. Its the most dramatic episode of the series and his cheesy cringe worthy humour ruins it. Jack harkness had a good humour and it was funny even in dramatic scenes with his sarcasam. Why moffat. Why didnt you bring him back. Thinks for a moment. Is he in the vault
J0k3r
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:35pmSorry if sspelling are wrong my keyboards broke
Jordan Scott
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:42pmNardole hasn’t really been in a “serious moment” as of yet, so I would presume that if he is in one his character would adjust to fit that scene. Also his character appears to be developing into a more serious tone over the course of the series.
J0k3r
April 22nd, 2017 - 9:16pmI sort of see what you mean with the end of trodm but i think he should just be left out of the final
prototype dalek
April 22nd, 2017 - 9:24pmNo footage of him in the final so that might be the case but I am sure he will make an appearance of sort
J0k3r
April 22nd, 2017 - 9:41pmGreat
Jordan Scott
April 22nd, 2017 - 10:22pmMy gut feeling from the start has been that he will be killed off (or something similar) either before of during the finale.
J0k3r
April 23rd, 2017 - 8:44amIn the good old moff tradition
pats86
April 23rd, 2017 - 7:27pmMakes no difference if anyone dies, with Moffat running the show no one actually dies anyway!
Well no one significant anyhow….oh the pain I felt when Clara reappeared and lived on (in a fashion)
Dr RevWho
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:23pmI really enjoyed it. Far from brilliant television, but much better than ‘ITFOTN’. I enjoyed Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie, and the story was pretty interesting and fun to watch play out.
And the moral of the story, kids is: YAY CAPITALISM!
My score: 8/10
The Surgeon
April 22nd, 2017 - 10:24pmNot really the moral is it, but OK. If you want to prove to everyone you know the word capitalism then don’t let me stop you
Dr RevWho
April 23rd, 2017 - 1:53amJust a joke. I don’t actually think this episode encourages capitalism.
As you can see, I liked the episode. I gave it 8/10.

April 22nd, 2017 - 8:23pmEnjoyed it. Not sure about the resolution of the story though….
6.5/10
JA
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:22pmBetter than I expected. It really helps that my expectations weren’t as a high for decent television viewing. Also, MUCH BETTER than Frank Cottrell-Boyce previous story.
prototype dalek
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:21pmReally enjoyed it, and not over using Nardole which is good. Use of the emoji bots was better than I expected!
The Temporal Jelly Baby
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:17pmDecent. Sums it up for me really. Nothing special, but a decent episode of Doctor Who! And you know what? I was expecting less than decent so it exceeded my expectations and I’m happy.
Mark Belsom
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:15pmBill has certainly figured the doctor out,she got it one. The episode was better than I thought it would be.
When The Doctor Was Me
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:12pmDo you know what… I kinda liked that, much better than was expecting.
The execution was good and the pacing was nice. Bill was brilliant, asking the right questions and her reactions to things is spot on.
I love it when an episode ends in the next! And that was a great way to do it. The Doctor having a little game with Bill only to wow her again!
When The Doctor Was Me
April 22nd, 2017 - 8:14pmMy only niggle was the resolution was to easy.

April 22nd, 2017 - 8:16pmThat means no nardole in ep3. I only hope hes not in the finally

April 22nd, 2017 - 8:10pmI find nardole cheesy so not having him was great

April 22nd, 2017 - 8:09pmNo nardole. Get in
