What Did You Think of The Angels Take Manhattan?
The final episode of series 7a has aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.
The Doctor’s heart-breaking farewell to Amy and Rory – a race against time through the streets of Manhattan, as New York’s statues come to life around them…
With Rory’s life in danger, the Doctor and Amy must locate him before it’s too late! Luckily, an old friend helps them and guides the way.
With this year being the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, the group decided that to create a one off magazine based on five decades of the Doctor’s adventures would be a perfect…

The future-chapter Amy reads was that the Doctor breaks something… but technically River broke her own wrist. So how does that work?
Posted by: Matt November 5th, 2012
No, she read a conversation between the doctor and a female character (the pronoun ‘she’ was used – the name is not given), and we all automatically presumed that the female was Amy; it was in fact River.

Here’s my review for The Angels Take Manhattan, With the Depature of Amelia (Amy) Jessica Pond (Williams) and Rory Arthur Williams (Pond)and the Return of the Weeping Angels many people were anticipating this episode, but did it live up to it’s standards? Well t start off with – WHAT ON EARTH WAS THE WEEPING STATUE OF LIBERTY ANGEL SUPPOSED TO BE DOING? All it did there was walk, be a giant angel and make funny faces at people – no i have said something negative of the episode lets look at it so far: 9/10
something positive: Alex Kingston was amazing as River Song and she played the part perfectly: 10/10
Something Negative: When Amy and Rory were on the Roof – (by the way while i’m on the subject of the roof scene – BEST MUSIC EVER!!!) – o.k. back to the subject who was looking at the giant Weeping Statue of Liberty Angel right behind them: 9/10
Positive: MATT SMITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was Amazing! The tears i produced at the end of the episode when Amy left, OMG that was amazing acting – even my Nan who absolutly hates the Eleventh Doctor said that was the best episode she’s seen and she’s seen: The Eleventh Hour * Closing Time * Asylum of the Daleks * Dinosaurs on a Spaceship * The Angels Take Manhattan: 10/10
NEGATIVE TIME!: GRAYLE! what was that man’s problem? a fat, old, grumpy, near-bald man who just happens to come across the Weeping Angels and keeps one in his lounge and tortures it just to see if it can feel pain? I mean what on earth was his moral?
Grayle’s thoughts: I just want to collect Weeping Angels so i can torture it send random people to investigate the Angels when already i know mostly everything about it then try to kill someone because i can get knoced up wake up 10 minutes later then suddenly get killed off.
9/10
And finally- the Depature of Amy and Rory-
Is it positive or negative?
POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE AT THE SAME TIME!
Positive: Amy and Rory’s departure was amazing and was very very very very very very very very VERY VERY VVVVEEEERRRRYYYY touching – i had tears in my eyes at the end of the episode – i just wish i had meet Karen Gillan before she left and Arthur Darvill – speaking of Mr Darvill – his middle name is Arthur look at this:
Rory ARTHUR Williams played by ARTHUR Williams
NEGATIVE: Amy’s name is Amelia Jessica Pond if you want her last name to be Williams then call her Amelia Jessica Williams not Amelia Williams also who else died? the other Gravestones have no names on them and why did Rory have such a bad good-bye? – anyway i finally rate this episode: 10/10 or as the Doctor would say 11/10
AFTERWORD
BY AMELIA WILLIAMS
Hello Old Friend and here we are you and me on the last page, by the time you read these words Rory and Me will be long gone so know that we lived well and were very happy, and over all else know that we will love you always, sometimes i do worry about you though i think once we’re gone you won’t be coming back here for a while, and you might be alone. which you should never be. Don’t be alone Doctor, and do one more thing for me. There’s a little girl waiting in a garden, She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope, go to her, tell her a story. Tell here if she’s paitent the days will come that she’ll never forget, tell her she’ll go to see and fight pirates, she’ll fall in love with a man who’ll wait 2,000 years to keep her safe, tell her she’ll give hope to the greates t painter who ever lived and save a whale in outer space, tell her this is the story of Amelia Pond and this is how it ends.

actually you are so wrong!!!!!!! amy shouldnt of left i love her karen gillan if you look at this i love you
but getting to the point the angel didnt move because it cant move with them seeing it and they would of saw it move anyway this was the best episode ever!!!!!!!!
Arthur Darvill 10/10
Karen Gillan BEST!!!
Matt Smith 1000/1000
Alex Kingston 10/10
well done all of you!! it was a great episode!!
P.S I watch every episode and they are all 10/10!!!

Asylum of the Daleks: 3/10
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: 8/10
A town called Mercy: 8/10
The power of three: 2/10
The Angels take Manhattan: 3/10
I am a massive Dalek fan but even I can admit that Asylum of the Daleks was a travesty.
Posted by: Eamon UltimateCliffhanger October 10th, 2012
why is the Power of Three lowest mine is:
Asylum of the Daleks: 9.5/10
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship: 8/10
A Town Called Mercy: 4/10
Power of Three: 9.5/10
The Angels take Manhattan:10/10

I really don’t care who the next companion is. Amy was the best companion since Sarah Jane. Why do these stupid writers need to kill people off all the time. I hope the Angels get them, and soon.
Posted by: davidwroxy October 10th, 2012
I agree that Amy is the best companion, but Karen Gillan wanted to leave and never return (at least thats what she said). Though, are some rumors that she will return dor the 50th.

So I’m doing ‘The DWM Season Survey 2012′, but I’m stuck for ideas on a few of the sections. These are ones I still need to fill in:
‘Favourite Special Effect’
‘Favourite Scene’
‘Favourite line of Diologue’
If someone could just give me a few ideaa, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Posted by: Anonymous October 7th, 2012
It wasent that good infact i was glad to see the ponds go
Posted by: Bob K October 7th, 2012
I thought this was lacking excitement. The weeping Angels though are one of the best characters ever seen in Dr Who, they have an especially creepy feel about them.
As to the end of Amy And Rory, I thought the story line lead up was boring, although the final scene was particularly moving with the doctor pleading with Amy.
Bring on some more sci-if western stories.
As to the best doctor anyone agree that Matt is by far the best, second only to Eccelston. Amy would have to be the best companion…..
Bit peeved that we have waited months for the return of Dr Who, only to get 5 shows….When are we going to get a Dr Who movie????
Posted by: Trenzalore 64 October 7th, 2012
The episode was ok, i just wanted to see more magic like like the older series had. All in all the episode was a fitting farewell the ponds. But that is my opinion.
Posted by: Anonymous October 5th, 2012
the fall is coming and the question will be answered
Posted by: crazy guy October 5th, 2012
hey one of the working titles for the first episode is the bells of saint John. which sounds interesting i was wondering perhaps it could be something to do with the tardis blowing up and we find out who it is but it might have something to do with the tardis as it has a saint John logo
Posted by: william stucken October 4th, 2012
Well we could of seen a bit more of the christmas trailer.
Posted by: Whovian October 2nd, 2012
The music when Amy & Rory were jumping was amazing!
Posted by: johnnyg October 3rd, 2012
yes, it was very moving
Posted by: Trenzalore 64 October 6th, 2012
I agree one of the best peices of music in doctor who.

Can someone tell me, what was the reference back to the eleventh hour was it Amelia t the end? And what question did it answer from TEH?
Posted by: booboo October 2nd, 2012
yes it was, everyone wondered why she heard the Tardis noise in the 11th hour
Posted by: Dalek Prime Minister October 2nd, 2012
Oh it cold also say who the shadow character is, the doctor visiting her!
Posted by: videogamemad00 October 2nd, 2012
Steven Moffat said that was the original idea but he ended up dropping it.
Posted by: Handbot Scott October 3rd, 2012
Perhaps Amelia heard the TARDIS noise because that was the Doctor doing what Amy Said for him to do in the afterword
Posted by: Anonymous October 6th, 2012
So Amelia and The Doctor were together when Amelia waited? That doesn’t make sense.
Crossing timelines and stuff……..
Posted by: Handbot Scott October 9th, 2012
Time can be rewritten.

Actually the shadow figure was Matt smith

im gonna miss the ponds =/ they deserved a better send off, but at least they wont be bringing them back (tht annoys me).
just thinking..Moffat was very clever to have the next companion in the first episode. cause now everyone loves her ^^ (it better be the same character tho or im gonna go and knock some sense into him)
wish they hadn’t over used the angels =/ loved em in the first ep (blink) but after that it just got a bit silly.
im now super dreading when river leaves. but the thing i dont get… shouldnt river be getting younger as he sees her… ?
Posted by: Anonymous October 2nd, 2012
this episode wasent the best i mean it was better than asylum of the daleks but i felt no emotion im not fussed about who leaves and who stays. the angels were not scary. i think the show should return to the classic format
Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone October 2nd, 2012
Jenna-Louise Coleman’S Oswin Oswald from ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ wont be coming back as she was killed along with all the other Daleks in the Asylum.
Instead, Jenna is returning as Clara Oswin, a woman from the Victorian times, who maybe a great great great [several times great] Grandmother or some other relation to Oswin Oswald, like Freema Agymans Martha has a Cousin called Adeola back in Army of Ghosts / Doomsdays, same actress, different characters, but both related in some way.
The Weeping Angels should never have returned after ‘Blink’, they should have stayed scary in that 1 episode and left it at that, just like Joss Whedon did with the Gentle in Buffy the Vampire Slayers series 4 episode ‘Hush’ by not bringing them back after that episode.
Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone October 2nd, 2012
The Gentlemen, not Gentle.

Perhaps ther sohuld be some kind of spolier alert system?

Here’s a few thoughts. The future River does not try to prevent what occured (like NEVER go to N. York!), and it seemed to me that River wrote the book in such a way to ensure Amy and Rory were sent back, coincidence that as a child River lived in New York, also she encouraged Amy to ‘blink’ and really didn’t seem too upset in the Tardis afterwards which makes me think she actually WAS the future River and knew what was going to happen. Rory had to go back as he has to die of old age on a set date. Could the graveyard angel actually be an Angel Of Mercy (a good angel) so Amy could be reunited with him? Remember they get to live their lives free from the angels and live a long and happy life. Surely there is more to be revealed by River about what happened. As far as I can work out the Dr can’t go back to see them as he witnessed Rory’s death, they are part of his timeline. (If someone dies he can’t just jump in the Tardis and go back in time 5 minutes and save them for instance). Once it says on the gravestone they are dead he can’t go back as they have already lived their lives without him. Going back to see Amelia and telling her about some of the future adventures makes sense as I used to puzzle over the fact Amy often seemed to know just what to do, as if she had already lived it before, I used to think she was a time lord or something in the first series. He would of course only tell her certain things and not others. I do wish they had used all the five episodes in a story arc leading to their departure, it felt as if they had already been pushed aside for most of the ‘series’. Amy and Rory I shall miss you!
Posted by: daleksean October 1st, 2012
i enjoyed this story but it was a bit rushed but i thought that amy and rory were going to die because they were jumping off the top of winter quay but in the end it was unexpected the way they left the show all that i can say is goodbye the ponds
Posted by: PondsForever October 1st, 2012
Sigh, if only Someone Had Teleported to the Graveyard either COD Zombies or if they had a Vortex Manipulator and took some guns or something and distracted the surviving Angel then Amy and Rory would have never’ve been zapped back in time.
Posted by: PondsForever October 1st, 2012
I meant either from COD Zombies BTW.
Posted by: matt smithy October 4th, 2012
you do realise the Doctor doesn’t use guns, right?
Posted by: PondsForever October 4th, 2012
Yes, but he did in TDD, TEOT P2 and ATCM
Posted by: PondsForever October 9th, 2012
And he probably would if there was a zombie apocalypse.
Posted by: Anonymous October 11th, 2012
The angels are bullet proof.
They didn’t know it was there until it took Rory.
That’s a horrible idea for an ending
Posted by: Trenzalore 64 October 1st, 2012
The apisode was ok, but there were alot of plot holes. it was very dry, but still the weeping angles were as manacing as ever. i just hope that future episodes wont suffer the same fate as this one. as a whole the series was ok, but the wealth of plot holes made it very confusing and stale. and in my personal optinion could have used more T.L.C. as a whole. it feals rushed.
Posted by: Whovian October 1st, 2012
I thought the doctor would go “dark doctor” on the last angel. To be honest I kind of hoped he would.

Posted by: Some bloke October 1st, 2012

The fact they died in the past before they were born, has NO effect on their births at all, nor on their meeting the doctor!

DID NOT LIKE THE END OF THE PONDS,THEIR ROLE WITH THE DOCTOR WAS FANTASTIC ,AND FREEZING THEM IN TIME ALLOWING FOR A FUTURE RETURN(PERHAPS TO SAVE THE DOCTOR OR RIVER)IN THE FUTURE WOULD BE BETTER OPTION
Posted by: Anonymous October 11th, 2012
Freezing them in time? That’s an awful idea
Posted by: Some bloke October 1st, 2012
We still havent found out what that voice was in the TARDIS at the end of series 5 when the tardis monitor screen cracked and it said ‘Silence will fall, silence will fall…’
Now before any of you comment on this saying, ‘Oh it was the Silents didn’t you know?’ because it wasnt the slients because its a different voice, and if you dont believe me, go back and have a look, OK?
I’ll expect that they’ll carry that on through to the 50th

Posted by: 11matt October 2nd, 2012
I reckon its omega

I’m disappointed that they didn’t wrap up the whole Amy and Rory being River’s parent’s thing better. I never saw Amy and River try to get to know each other, and Rory definitely didn’t.
The end for Rory and Amy came too quickly and is too cruel. Too many plot holes as well. Didn’t like it.

I think it would have been better if they died by falling off winter quay

This was without a doubt one of the most fabulous and emotional episode I have ever watched absolutely amazing in every way possible Action,Love,Grief. WOW
Posted by: Jane Daniels September 30th, 2012
Plot holes you could drive a truck through… but I still liked it LOL
The only thing I wish we had gotten was a little more information on the Pond’s life after they’d been sent back in time (as we did in the original weeping angels episode when Sally got the letter from Kathy)
I will miss the Ponds, I kind of had a crush on them LOL
Oh, and btw, whoever said angels couldn’t be bronze? At the end of “Blink” we saw all sorts of statues not just stone statues, implying ANY statue could be one of the ‘lonely assassins’ & NOT just the weeping angels… pay attention people!
Yeah… I gotta get a life, I know LOL
Posted by: Silence Will Still Fall September 30th, 2012
Beautifully written and acted. Best episode of the series so far.And for maximum impact the weeping angels should NEVER EVER return because after this they’ll never be forgotten.
Posted by: the astronaut of death September 30th, 2012
as much as i like the weeping angels if they ever return i hope they are destroyed

Why didn’t the doctor deal with the angel that took Amy and rory? It’s not like him to leave an angel loose in New York
Posted by: Sebatron November 6th, 2012
Maybe that angel is Angel Bob and he survived to take revenge on the Doctor for ruining his plan before!

Posted by: Dazza September 30th, 2012
So, Rorys dad will forever be sat at their home waiting for them, watering plants? loose plot ends, was just an excuse to use the worst villians of all the stupid weeping angels. 2/5
Posted by: Anonymous October 7th, 2012
I agree with you stevan moffat has written good strorys but strories like asylum of the daleks and angeks take manhatten are awfull.
Posted by: George December 6th, 2012
They actually released a sort of clip (I can’t quite remember but I think it was a storyboard) where Rory’s dad gets a message from Rory explaining what happened.
Come on, the Weeping Angels aren’t the worst villains ever. Overused a bit perhaps, but they’re consistently ranked as peoples favourite or near favourite Doctor Who monsters, so to call them the worst villains is simply false (they’re the villains you most dislike, not the actual worst villains).
Posted by: Rob September 30th, 2012
It should have been a two parter. A city over-run by weeping angels, The Statue Of Liberty an angel etc… Also how could the angel zapp Amy if both River & The Doctor were looking at it?
Posted by: The Supreme Dalek September 30th, 2012
I think because Amy was right up at it, so when she turned around the Angel’s hand didn’t really need to move as she was very close so she got zapped. It could maybe have moved so little they didn’t notice…
Posted by: BOOBOO JR September 30th, 2012
We all knew the Ponds end was coming, but I didn’t expect it to come this fast
Last night’s episode was great, a perfect send off for Amy and Rory. 10 out of 10 from me, best episode of this season. I can’t wait for Christmas though, it’s time to make way for Jenna Louise Coleman…

Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone September 30th, 2012
Just learned from a new YouTube video uploaded by user ‘I just subscribe now’ called ‘The Doctor’s Daughter (Jenny) Confirmed By Moffat Returning For 50th’ that the Doctors Daughter herself, Jenny, is to return for Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary celebrations next year
Can’t find no official confirmation, but Ive just taken a look on Google and a website called ‘Word Press’ talks about it, but features both Jenny the Doctors Daughter and the other Jenny from last years ‘A Good Man Goes To War’ episode, the woman with the Silurian woman.
Posted by: That Cherub over there September 30th, 2012
Moffat wasn’t talking about the Doctor’s daughter, Jenny. He was talking about Jenny from AGMGTW.

When exactly did the angel zap them back to? Why can’t the Doctor see them in a later year (1945 perhaps?). Amy’s gravestone says she lives to the age of 87. If the angel sends her back to 1938, and I guess she’s about 25 years old already, her date of death would be in 2000!

When I first saw the ending I instantly made a link between this episode and the final episode of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Both the doctor and the main protoganist(Simon) lose the people that they love ( with the Ponds sent back in time and Nia fading from existence) and then t both the doctor and Simon travel alone with just 1 other person(the doctor with river and simon with boota). If you have seen TTGL you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Posted by: Kirst September 30th, 2012
I really enjoyed this episode but was left thoroughly confused. As far as I understand the quay building was destroyed so Amy and Rory weren’t held captive in that room. I think they were just transported back to New York and lived a normal life together. But the Doctor and River talked as if they would never see them again by why couldnt Amy and Rory just leave New York and find the Doctor again? Also River can get in contact with Amy to get the book published which doesn’t make any sense either. It didn’t feel like a definitive ending to me like when any of the other companions left. It sounds like I hated this episode but I really did like it! It was just the plotholes left me confused.
Posted by: terka September 30th, 2012
Ecactly! I absolutely agree with you. It was a very good episode, and I really was crying when she said “good bye” and disappeared, but i honestly wasnt sure why it was such a drama. Okay, the doctor cant land the tardis in new york in that year ever again again, but he can just wait one year, so new york doesnt get ripped apart, and go there to pick them up. or, obviously, they can use rivers vortex manipulator (hope i got the spelling right) to go there, river will, definitely, cause she has to give the book to amy to publish it. so, yes, didnt make much sense to me. sounds like mister moffat thinks that dr who fans are stupid or will just buy anything he gives to them…quite disappointing.
Posted by: terka September 30th, 2012
and one more thing, why would he go back in time to tell little amy whats going to happen to her, then all the episodes with amy woudl be different! she would already know! maybe her whole life before he come back for her twelve years later would be different if she knew that he would come back, she wouldnt be a kissagram, maybe she wouldnt be dating rory at all, if he actually went there to tell her all that stuff, he could ruin everything they experienced together…i think…:)
Posted by: Blank September 30th, 2012
This episode happened a bit to quickly for me. The gang were happy, Rory got send back, they chased Rory, the ponds created a paradox and then the ponds got killed.
They shouldn’t have done it so quickly.
Posted by: The TARDIS September 30th, 2012
It’s just struck me – the Angels weren’t defeated! Rory was sent back and what was meant to happen happened! So the Angels took Manhattan, but the Doctor never took it back.

no the angels had been defeated and the building gone, it was lone survivor that sent him back in time that’s why he and Amy were able to to leave a normal life.
Posted by: The TARDIS September 30th, 2012
Oh good. I shouldn’t have thought Steven Moffat would have left an end untied.
Posted by: Anonymous October 11th, 2012
But the doctor didn’t deal with the angel that sent back Amy and Rory, there’s still an angel on the loose
Posted by: the astronaut of death September 30th, 2012
as much as i like the weeping angels if they ever return i hope they are destroyed
but i do love the weeping angels

But Amy died alone. (She lived 5 years longer than Rory)
Posted by: Anonymous October 11th, 2012
She didn’t nessicerily live longer, she just died older. They wernt the same age were they?

Posted by: Mr Evil Fez September 30th, 2012
And anyway, where did you get this information Tomuuu?
Posted by: The TARDIS September 30th, 2012
I absolutely loved it! Steven Moffat played some brilliant tricks on us in this episode. When it comes to a companions departure, we always know it’s going to happen but they don’t. But here, they knew right from the start that they were going to die which created some brilliant dramatic irony as the story continued. Also, the trick of having them survive the fall made it all the more emotional when the inevitable happened.
Murray Gold’s score was, as always, fantastic and the scenes in the Big Apple where everything was perfect just showcased the whole era of the Ponds.
Unfortunately, the Angels just didn’t scare me in this episode. Even with the Time of Angels, there was the terrifying sequence of the Angel coming out of the screen, whereas here there just wasn’t anything particularly creepy about them.
My only real moan about this episode is one that’s plagued the whole series: it needed another episode. Yeah, that’d ruin the whole “movie” aspect, but the plot just felt far too hurried as with every other episode. The filmic feel of this series just dpoesn’t float my boat, whilst I bet that for some people it will be better than ever.
Oh well – of this series, this was the episode that felt the most like Doctor Who to me, and the best one of this series in my opinion.
10/10
Posted by: The TARDIS September 30th, 2012
Oh yeah – the Statue of Liberty aspect was a brilliant idea, but it was brushed over too quickly. It wasn’t fully utilised by the episode. And I think that if they had put “Amy Williams” in the closing titles instead of “Amy Pond” then that would have made it for me and completely set me off crying. Still, I won’t be alone in saying that the (two) goodbye scenes made me cry.
“Together, or not at all.” is, I think, the motto for the whole of Doctor Who.
Posted by: Professor When September 30th, 2012
I agree! Well, mostly agree, but the angels did scare me just a couple of times. The baby’s footsteps (tapa-tapa-tapa), the smiling angel, and the SHOCK when rory was zapped back in time.
Posted by: Dalek Prime Minister September 30th, 2012
It was so sad seeing the ponds falling off the building, and her saying goodbye, especially reading the last bit saying this is how her story ended!
One thing, the statue of liberty looked too close to the building and surely someone would notice it has move sand changed!
Posted by: Fields of Trenzalore fall of the elevent silence will fall the question dr who September 30th, 2012
Good could have been better, could have been longer could have Amy and Rory zapped
back in time to find young melody pond could have had more statue of liberty, then
Amy and Rory in leadworth.i did not think it was as good as it could beAmy and Rory should
have been
zapped and raise melody instead of the silence, then die in leadworth, also explain Rory ‘s I’d badge.i like it but it needed to be better exit.but Amy still needs more revenge in the silence for causing the crack, using her and
river and killing the doctor.still good
Posted by: kevindoctorwhoun September 30th, 2012
Well tbqh its not what I expected amy and rory sent back in time could of made it a bit more dramatic something like an angel in the tardis or a 2 parter like somebody else said I wonder about series 7b hope its good the xmas one looks okay not the best didn’t really give us any information about the episode itself but bye amy and rory hope u show your faces some time in the future ????

I think he should have said goodbye to young Amelia,he did but we did not see it.when the doctor next meets the angels he will be angry.i hope the angels return the doctor will be angry with them
Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone September 30th, 2012
This is now my favorite episode of series 6 [previously it was A Town Called Mercy].
Such a great story to end the Pond’s travels with the Doctor, and sheer proof that if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life without the one you love, then you don’t have too, just die with them and you’ll both never be alone
Never would have guessed the novel had any real significance to the story, I thought it was just some book the Doctor was reading while enjoying the picnic with Amy and Rory.
Loved the reuse of footage of young Amelia Pond played by Karen’s cousin Katlin, I bet Katlin is really pleased they ended the story with her version of the character, which is only fair, since she played her first before Karen did.
Goodbye Amy and Rory – HELLO CLARA OSWIN !!!!
Posted by: Jason doctorwhoone September 30th, 2012
Series 7, not 6, sorry all.
Posted by: doctorwhocrazyfreak September 30th, 2012
i didnt like the fact that rory died three times and amy died twice. why cant they just die once. i would have really liked it if they were just dropped off at home
Posted by: Dalek Strategist September 30th, 2012
*Wipes away a tear* That… was such a great episode…. This was terrifying and sad, and a beautiful episode. The one thing I didn’t like about it was how they never explained how Angels could turn other statues into Weeping Angels. Then again, Doctor Who is full of continuity errors(Yeah, I mean YOU, Davros!). The departure of the Ponds was so sad… RIP: Amy and Rory Pond
Posted by: JNelson September 30th, 2012
At the end-Seems to me that the doctor came back to see young Amy the morning he had originally promised to return, so that he has added yet a third timeline to tied to their relationship. Time Lords may have rules about these things, but he has never followed rules to the letter.
Posted by: paul September 30th, 2012
A great way for Rory & Amy to leave the show together, was on the edge of my seat (nearly fell of a few times!). probably one of the best episodes so far…
)
Just waiting now for the trolls to go into full bitchy mode!
Posted by: Will September 30th, 2012
Meh. I got sick of Amy and Rory after a while. Amy seemed to get bitchier every series and Rory seemed to become just a comic fool. The Doctor acts like a childish prat too. The episode was overall fairly dull and the departure of the Ponds didn’t have much emotional effect at all especially when you consider the fact that they were the longest running Doctor who companions of the new era. It all seemed too quick. I was also hoping River would go with them as she’s outstayed her welcome. I will say, Matt’s performance in this is fantastic though I am not a fan of his Doctor. Overall series 7a gets a 7/10.
Series 1: 8/10
Series 2: 9/10
Series 3: 8/10
Series 4: 8/10
Specials: 7/10
Series 5: 7/10
Series 6a: 6/10
Series 6b: 3/10
Posted by: John Smith September 30th, 2012
Matt Smith is a great Doctor. Leave him be! I reckon that your one of those people who think that ONLY David Tennant can play the Doctor and ONLY Russel T Davies can write the show. Things change and the Pond’s were great characters, don’t diss them! Also River isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Posted by: The 14th Doctor September 30th, 2012
My suggestion would be to stop watching it and leave us who still like it alone.
Posted by: Classic September 30th, 2012
It’s not Matt Smith’s fault, it’s Steven Moffat, he is such a bad writer.
Posted by: John Smith September 30th, 2012
I completely agree with The 14th Doctor and Classic. If you don’t like it, leave it. Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor alongside David Tennant and Tom Baker. Steven Moffat is a great writer but sometimes I think that he get’s a bit carried away and expects everyone to understand what the heck he’s going on about! HE NEEDS A RESTRAINING ORDER FROM DOCTOR WHO SCRIPTS! LOL.

I agree. Although I like Dr Who, and I always watch it over and over again, I do find merlin a bit more interesting, and prefer some of the story lines

Two words. Get out… Just like that pig nosed guy in Star Wars IV said “He doesn’t like you, I DON’T LIKE YOU EITHER!”

i was a Doctor Who fan, untill Steven Moffat took over.
Posted by: John Smith October 1st, 2012
I’ve heard so many people say that. It’s actually starting to get annoying!
Posted by: The TARDIS October 8th, 2012
Far too many people are saying that they were Doctor Who fans til Steven Moffat took over, but if that were true then you weren’t Doctor Who fans. You were Russell T. Davies fan.
Posted by: 47 September 29th, 2012
Very good ! Perhaps the best of the Moffat/Smith era. I liked that episode !
Posted by: Jewkesy September 29th, 2012
Don’t forget they didn’t die, they just left the doctor. They went back in time, river sends the book back in time to be published by Amy. Amy types – as we saw her fingers typing at the end – and the book then saves everyones life in the present day. True Rory and Amy are dead in the present day, but we know they lived to a ripe old age as we know how Rory was ancient when he died in today’s episode. Not all sad then. You just have to look at it through timey wimey tinted spectacles
Posted by: BadgerCo September 29th, 2012
But wait, it said on the tombstone that Rory dies before Amy, so where was Amy when Rory died?
Posted by: Boodleoo September 30th, 2012
The whole quay building didn’t happen it was eraised when they jumped off the building. One survived but was weak and sent Rory and Amy back in time to live their lives.

A good episode but typically it carried an unnecessaty side plot – what was th epoint of the collector??
Anyway a fitting end to the Ponds time on DW (albeit a year late) but nowhere near to the emotional effect of Doomsday. 8/10

1. At the end of the end of time when David tenant left.
2. At the end of this episodes when the ponds went and ot sent back
And does anyone know what happened to the angel that sent Amy and Rory back?

I really hope the doctor goes dark/angry on the angels. They deserve it. The thing is how can you punish a creature like that?
Posted by: Doctor Stu September 29th, 2012
Brilliant episode but how did the statue of liberty manage to walk across the water to get to other side of the bridge, stomp through new York all the way to winter quay and not be seen by anybody!!!! I thought that bit would have been explained. Also the statue of liberty is made of copper and not stone because it was originally bronze it turned green because of the air pollution, any way that’s the complaining and history over and done with. Loved this episode, will defp be watching it again. I have never got emotional over a Doctor Who episode before except for the end of the girl who waited. 10 out of 10!! Oh also where did the cracked, weathered smiling angels off the doctor who website gallery come into the episode
Posted by: Boodleoo September 30th, 2012
Ummm only explanation I can think off is for how nobody saw it. Ummm Angels move really fast. Thats all I got:D
Posted by: John Smith September 30th, 2012
Who said that Weeping Angels have to be made of stone? I’m going to avoid those evil looking, plastic Garden Gnomes that my next door neighbors have!

NO THIS CANT BE THE END IM IN DENIAL WHY COULDNT IT HAVE BEEN RIVER I LOVE AMY AND RORY THEYRE PERFECT
Posted by: matparks08 September 29th, 2012
wow – tears! I haven’t shed them whilst watching Doctor Who since Sarah left in ‘Hand of Fear’ – those pesky weeping angels! And how many people thought – oh, they didn’t go ahead with it, and then jumped a mile when Rory was ‘got’ by the graveyard angel. A good ending to a very good story and just love how it brought us full circle.

What a great episode to round of amy and rory’s last episode. Although i’m sure the Doctor could have told Brian what happened. And also do Amy’s mum and Dad even know what she’s been doing and now the fact shes dead!!
Can’t wait for christmas.

because the doctor saw the grave stone if he goes back to new york he will create a huge paradox blowing new york apart
Posted by: peter September 29th, 2012
of course he couldnt get a message to them saying, hey, why not meet me in london at the hilton hotel at a preset date, we can meet up, chat, travel abit and Il get you back to london so myou can get back to new york. Why not borrow rivers vortex manipulator and visit.
He cant cause its the actors time to leave.
Next the dalek girl at christmas.

well that was the best ep ever
i thouht that was the best way they could go i love evry miniut of it it was just brillant
but i would have liked to see the doctor go to tell brian about rory and amy
Posted by: the astronaut of death September 29th, 2012
also when they did not die jumping off the building i was like there ALIVE but then when i saw the grave stone and the weeping angel i just knew it was the end
Posted by: The Supreme Dalek September 29th, 2012
Same! I thought exactly that!
Posted by: iPhil September 30th, 2012
Agreed, they spent a few episodes building up Brian’s character and him giving his blessing for them to travel with the Doctor, so it would have been nice to the the Doctor break the news to him, or he’ll never know what happened.
Posted by: The 14th Doctor September 29th, 2012
Feel sorry for Brian, hope someone told him. But very good, and at least Amy finally opened up to how much she loved Rory.

I cried so much from when Rory decided to jump off the building till the episode ended. Easily the best episode ever. Made me cry even more than Doomsday.
Posted by: RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND September 29th, 2012
Fantastic. the best episode. one thing though, i didnt like the way rory just vanished, i think it would’ve been nice to have a last word from him. but otherwise, fantastic. i was on the verge of crying, it was action packed, river was great, it had a proper beginning middle and end, and it had the object of surprise.
Goodbye Amelia Jessica Pond. Goodbye Rory Arthur William’s. I will miss you.
Goodbye Doctor Who….. For Now…
Posted by: iPhil September 30th, 2012
I did feel a bit like Rory was brushed to one side so that the focus was on Amy. Maybe they could have had a brief scene of Amy and arriving to reunite with Rory in 1938.
Posted by: Poojoo September 29th, 2012
Enjoed the episode, sad at the end, but i was wanting a bit more, seeing amy and rory at the end together ??? That would have been nice to seen , but tey did make the angels scary again!!! 8.5/10
Posted by: Richard Thomas September 29th, 2012
It felt rushed – especially the ending. Is anyone going to tell Rory’s dad what happened to his son? The music was intrusive and far to loud in places. Why did the rogue angel not get The Doctor and River also??? Should have been a two parter. New York looked great. Is The Doctor a god or not? He seems to be when the script requires so and when not he is just powerless to help his friends. Mixed messages and way to ‘trying to be clever’ for its own good.
Posted by: Doctor who rules September 29th, 2012
How’s he going to tell Brian Rory’s dad ?
Posted by: Mr Evil Fez September 29th, 2012
Simple. Wipe his mind in some way. And say to him he saved everyone he could.
Posted by: NotADalek September 29th, 2012
He probably won’t, he’ll just never come back to face the reality of telling Brian that. Poor Brian will probably just be left looking after Amy and Rory’s plants, forever.
