BBC Worldwide update on Doctor Who leaks

BBC Worldwide update on Doctor Who leaks

We would like to thank Doctor Who fans everywhere for their amazing efforts in helping us contain the recent leaks.

The mistake was damaging and resulted in the exposure of five scripts and the first six unfinished episodes from Series 8 on a publicly accessible FTP site. While there is still a risk that this leak will result in more of this content emerging, so far the impact has been contained to a limited amount of this material through a combination of fans efforts and the plan that we put in place using new technology and internal manpower to limit any illegal activity.

We would particularly like to thank the fansite moderators and Doctor Who devotees who have actively protected the programme.

BBC Worldwide has taken this issue extremely seriously and disciplinary action has been implemented as a result of the incident.

Our sincere apologies again to Steven Moffat, the cast and production team who toil long hours to make the show in Cardiff, the BBC, and of course the fans who expect so much better.

The only thing that would ever tempt me would be the titles. I always get over excited for the titles and I don’t know why. I won’t look at them until august the 23rd when the rest of us see them. But from what I’ve heard about 99% of all possible locations to download them have been blocked and removed? Thank goodness

Sorry to the admin, I see my post was deleted. I never sayed where u can find it. I just sayed that I’v seen it on there and not going to do anything about it as I did not want to spoil it for myself. So again sorry I just wanted to let someone in charge to know that it is out there. I hope u will forgive me?

As long as we don’t know the name of the website which has the 5 scripts posted online or an edited version of ‘Deep Breath’, then it’s not like we are gonna view them just like that.

It baffles me why some people will go to such lengths to spoil a show for others!

Better safe than sorry I suppose, even if other comments do sometimes get blocked as well.

In fairness, we have waited more than half a year for anything visual, not counting raw footage from Auton710.

    I exept there apology

But I don’t know how the BBC could be so stupid

Firstly way back in 2005 the episode rose was leaked online , then in 2013 someone found a script to nightmare in silver sitting in a back of a taxi and then about 5 coppies of series 7 part 2 got released early in america and now this!

wasn’t the BBC, it was BBC worldwide, big difference

and actually, i believe it was as simple in computer terms as leaving a door unlocked – anyone could open it and look in

      its happens

I just think a show as big as Dr who should have better security

that’s probably part of the problem, the bigger it get the more information they have to send out to more places

Most news sites report on the leaks but don’t show it and usually these people who try to spoil are blocked so at least it’s being handled well

yes, although a lot of these sites go out of their way to post and spoiler they can get their hands on (and big one sometimes) at other times.

      not huge but yes,

we keep the news fairly low key because the merchandise section and the main site features are so busy

So do you have to read the comments, and therefore know the spoilers, booboo?

That must be a bit rubbish if you do. Thanks though, as this site seems to always be spoiler free, the way it should be!

      more or less

and a lot try to do it in the merchandise as well

the main thing is a link, as you know any links go on moderation so they never get through and i dont click on spoiler ones i just delete.

other “key” words stop other things from getting through

down side to this is that ordinary comments that are OK sometimes get blocked as well because of this
