NewWho2013
December 21st, 2012 - 4:26amI think saying that the new intro, new theme and new Tardis console room is gearing up for the 50th is a good cover story while the truth is right under our nose, sneaky 12th doctor………
doctorwhoone
December 21st, 2012 - 8:25amLike I said to you over on the ‘Revamped Theme Tune and Opening Title Sequance’, Matt is not leaving at all, he said he is staying throughout 2013 so may leave either in 2014 or 2015 or a little later after the next 3 years.
Blimey just cos the console rooms changed you make this assumption that a new Doctor’s suddenly gonna arrive. Tom Baker had like 2 or 3 different consoles during his 7 years and he never got replaced whenever a new console room suddenly made an appearance.
Just cos you see a new console room does not mean it has to suit a new incarnation of the Doctor. Doctors 5,6 and 7 used the 1983 version for the rest of the 1980’s while 9 and 10 shared the same one for the rest of the 2000’s.
John Smith
December 21st, 2012 - 11:13pmSome of the ideas that they’re using (the revamped title sequence, new theme tune, TARDIS console room)are ones that I wished they saved for the 50th anniversary specials, if they decide to go down that path. They should have some surprises left for the 50th, don’t you think? Although I do quite like the new console. It’s almost like a homage to the classic series ones, while combining some features of the new series ones.

December 23rd, 2012 - 5:44pmas doctorwhoone said, a new TARDIS interior doesnt mean a new doctor. I heard Matt is planning on staying for 3 or 4 more years.
That Snowman over there
December 20th, 2012 - 11:36pmVery nice Console Room. Like how it reflects the Doctor’s current mood: a lonely old man who’s turning his back on the universe. Also, the Time Rotor looks very similar to the one in the Silence ship. Hmmm…
I must admit, I do prefer the previous design, but I’m willing to see this one in action before I properly judge it. Something I think some others need to do. ๐

December 20th, 2012 - 4:40pmI love the new console room. Absolutely love it!!
As for the new theme music, would it be too much for me to hope and pray to god that it’s not done by Murray Gold. I’m sorry, but this guy just doesn’t understand Doctor Who. When are we going to get a new composer??
doctorwhoone
December 20th, 2012 - 4:55pmHey, lay off Murry Gold, the man is a musical genius !! ๐
His produced so many of my favorite songs for the revived series.
Roses Theme
Gallifrey, our childhood, our home
Val Decem
The dark and endless Dalek night
Doomsday
Song for Ten
Songs of captivity and freedom
Song of freedom
The Doctor forever
I could go on . . . . .
The TARDIS
December 20th, 2012 - 5:03pmWhat’s Murray Gold ever done wrong? His soundtracks for the episodes are brilliant!
doctorwhoone
December 20th, 2012 - 5:11pmThe TARDIS – EXACTLY !! ๐
When Val Decem was first heard as the 10th Doctor was walking in agony back to the Tardis, how many of us fan’s where reduced to tears ?. I was 21 at the time, and that song had me crying for good knows how long after ‘the End of Time part 2’ was broadcast, proving that Murray is a man who can produce moving, emotion driven music.
How many of us clapped our hands listening to song of freedom for the first time while the Tardis pulled our planet back into it’s proper place in the universe ? . . . . I DID, it make me feel very happy to clap and cheer at such an awesome piece of music.
I hope Murry NEVER retires.
Check out ‘Doctor Who Fan-Orchestra’ on YouTube, they are brilliant at performing his songs ๐

December 21st, 2012 - 3:32pmLook, I’m a huge Doctor Who fan. Don’t get me wrong, but Murray Gold annoys me, doctorwhoone, and I can have whatever opinion I’d like. Sure he’s musically talented and can write catchy tunes, but so what??? This is about incidental music to enhance a tvshow, not writing hit singles. Believe me, I understand he’s a talented musician, but as an incidental music composer he is terrible.
I will admit since Moffat took over and started burying him in the mix, it’s gotten much better.
Musical Genius?? Not even close.
John Smith
December 21st, 2012 - 11:20pmMurray Gold is a FANTASTIC COMPOSER! Would you rather have someone sitting in front of a Synthesizer playing repetitive music with very little, or not much emotion behind it at all… OR… A massive orchestra, pounding away at the music making scenes exciting and epic while being able to captivate peoples emotions, all in the flick of a baton? I’ve been to the two Doctor Who Symphonic Spectaculars, the one earlier this year in Melbourne and the one in Sydney only a few weeks ago and they were brilliant. Just like Murray’s Music. I’m sorry if I’m attacking you a little, it’s just that Murray Gold and Ben Foster are amazing. I have no doubt in my mind that Murray will bugger up the theme tune. In fact, I reckon that he’ll make it better!
Benjee10
December 21st, 2012 - 11:25pmZaphod99 – Please explain in what way Murray Gold is a โterribleโ incidental music composer? That seems rather harsh. Listen to โI am the Doctorโ and tell me that that doesnโt just completely sum up the Eleventh Doctor and suit him perfectly, as well as being a damn good bit of standalone music. Pretty much every piece of Doctor Whoโs incidental music is like that; it works perfectly both for the scene itโs in and on itโs own.
I honestly think we must be talking about different Murray Golds, or youโre listening to a different Doctor Who than I am, because he IS a musical genius. I donโt think anyone could produce music that suited Doctor Who better.
Zaphod99
December 31st, 2012 - 2:49pmBecause Benjee10, incidental music means “accompanying, but not a major part of something”…like I said he’s a telented musician, but he is far from subtle. The last thing Doctor Who needs is the constant onslaught of a full orchestra playing songs….incidental music is not about writing songs, it’s about composing parts and sections to cover scenes. I’d much rather hear certain parts of the show with no music, or just a handful of musicians playing a part. Murray’s music is so constantly bombastic and in your face. You shouldn’t immediately notice the music…it should enhance the scene. Murray seems to think that the show enhances the music. He writes songs and puts them whereever he wants to. It’s almost like he doesn’t even watch the show. Get over it, Murray Lovers! As far as the symphony goes, of course it would be enjoyable to watch an orchestra playing this stuff…it’s good music. Incidental Music it is NOT!
If you want to hear how incidental music should sound, go watch Lost or Battlestar Galactica or 24, so you can hear how Michael Giacchino, Bear McCreary, and Sean Callery truly understand the show they’re composing for.
You can argue all you want, but go back and watch Series 1 and 2, and you’ll see Murray’s music is bombastic and in-your-face and intrusive a lot of the time. I admit it’s a little better now, but that’s because Moffat told him to tone it down.
Zaphod99
December 31st, 2012 - 2:54pm…and yes, I admit, there are some of his compositions that I really like in the show. However, I just think it’s time for him to move on to something else. I’d like to hear someone who can compose somthin a little more subtle, ethereal, and otherwordly for the show.
MORLU
December 20th, 2012 - 10:06amA little too much like the classic interior. Which I like in those episodes but some how doesn’t fit for now. Will have to see how it plays out in the series.
doctorwhoone
December 20th, 2012 - 9:00amI wonder if that second control panel on the left hand side of the picture is a new version of the Fault Locator from ‘The Edge of Destruction’.
Having read so many comments on this site and other sites talking about this new console room, it seems 100% of fan’s like me like it, 50% are unsure, and 10 or 20% simply hate it.
Well, you can’t please everyone ๐

December 20th, 2012 - 7:48amMore it changes but I do like it. I liked all the previous TARDIS interior. Only if my room or house had this. But rather have it in Big Motor home or maybe old bus which you convert into a Motorhome that be best.

December 20th, 2012 - 7:37amI love this new room.
I really missed the classic console room.
I loved the 2005 room, I liked the 2010 room slightly less but this is better than both

December 20th, 2012 - 2:34amHas a cool look,but cold too like the 1980’s 4th/5th doctor era.

December 19th, 2012 - 8:43pmmaybe the inside spins round (somehow)
doctorwhoone
December 20th, 2012 - 8:18amI think the metal parts that hold the cylinders in position slide up and down them.
What I mean is, the bottom metal parts slide up, while at the same time, the top metal parts slide down, so that they briefly hide the cylinders for a split second, if that’s makes any sense.
Sebatron
December 19th, 2012 - 8:23pmTHAT IS COOL!!!!!!!!

December 19th, 2012 - 7:21pmGreat, so sci-fi looking, and modern! I love the time rotor, the neon pipes look great! Do you like it booboo?
CYBERMEN97000
December 19th, 2012 - 7:01pmI like it but I dread to think what they are going to do to destroy the old console room ๐
Some bloke
December 19th, 2012 - 7:12pmwhat makes you think it has to be destroyed. It could just be redecoration
doctorwhoone
December 20th, 2012 - 8:20amIt has been redecorated cos the past one reminds the Doctor of Amy and Rory too much, echoing memories of events inside the Tardis of being with them in the previous version from series 5,6 and the first half of series 7.
CYBERMEN97000
December 21st, 2012 - 9:20pmYes but it would be so much cooler if it was destroyed its all in the matter of opinion.
the astronaut of death
December 19th, 2012 - 6:57pmit’s alright but I much prefer the 2010-2012 disign
Dazza
December 19th, 2012 - 6:38pmI like it, it gives off a classic Who vibe, I do wish they’d carried on the lower part of the wall all the way to the top though. Otherwise it seems very ‘filmic’ and I look forward to hearing the revamped them tune and titles to.
Malik
December 20th, 2012 - 6:44pmnot sure what u mean? theres a second level there
not only that, you can hardly see byond it (upward) they could have done a better pic
The TARDIS
December 19th, 2012 - 6:31pmNot sure… sometimes, when I look at it I think that it’s great that they’re going back to the classic series designs a bit whilst still being so much more impressive. But other times, I look at it and think that the back wall is ugly, and that the side console along the wall is going too Star Trekky. Then, I think that it is amazing and that the design is fantastic and so very TARDISsy.
All I do know is that it is definitely going to be a divider of opinions, with some people seeing it as faithful to the past and others seeing it as a step back…
The TARDIS
December 19th, 2012 - 6:34pmI see a new think every second, changing my opinion! I’ve just noticed the screens in the time rotor and the circley thing on the console. And the weird pipes or rails, whatever they are… I am genuinely not sure whether I love it, or whether I think it’s like our local hospital: clinical yet not very clean.
John Smith
December 22nd, 2012 - 9:28amYou are the TARDIS right? Why would you be complaining about your internal appearance? Lol. Sorry, I just had to say it. ๐
crazy guy
December 19th, 2012 - 6:07pmalthough the only thing that worries me is that if someone goes to the doctor who experince it the tardis bit were you fly it. it would feel outdated.
Mr Evil Fez
December 19th, 2012 - 6:10pmMaybe this room is a secondary control room, and they’ll go back to the normal Tardis after Series 7 Part 2?
another guy
December 19th, 2012 - 6:23pmI dont think so. Matt smith was on ‘This Morning’ and he said that he was given the ‘Type 40’ plaque from the console, and the coat stand, and that they are now in his flat. LOL
crazy guy
December 19th, 2012 - 8:07pmlol but maybe they might change it
crazy guy
December 19th, 2012 - 6:05pmi love this. as from never seeing the classic episodes i am glad they are bringin classic things back like the theme and titles. the tardis and some of the monsters. this has been the best series ever

December 19th, 2012 - 5:26pmAMAZING!!!
I am really gonna miss the old one though. Still, reminds me of Paul Mcgaan’s one:)
Don’t diss the Sonic!!!
December 19th, 2012 - 5:21pmIt looks alright, they’ve definetely made it seem more alien and more like a machine like Steven Moffat inteneded. It’s quite nice that they’re looking back to the classic Doctor Who. I don’t really like that they’ve went back to small again, I loved the massive size od the interior before, that verion of the Tardis was the only one worthy for the saying “it’s bigger on the inside”; the other Tardises would only desreve “it’s big on the inside”. I loved the previous Tardis and how had tons of stairs that leaded away from the main console that seemed to lead to anyware and how the Tardis controles look like human tools is really clever and give that magical sense that Doctor Who does well at but doen’t spoil the show. They could have just adapted the previous interior, changed some of the colours or something but not change it too much. I’m hoping, that because you could clearly see some stairs at the back leading to underneath the console, that we get to see whats under it regulary and it looks like what i think it will, then it may be actually quite good.

December 19th, 2012 - 4:25pmCrazy guy i thing the thing you call a stand is what makes the console stand up
