The BBC has also issued a press release on the game…

The Doctor and Amy are about to face off against the Daleks in their most terrifying encounter yet – but this time the only person who can save them is you. ‘City of the Daleks’, the first episode of the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, is available to download for PC now from the BBC Doctor Who website for free. The Mac version will follow on June 15th 2010.

‘City of the Daleks’ sees the TARDIS materialize in 1963 as the Doctor takes to Amy to London to meet The Beatles. However, the London they encounter is very different to the one they expected: a ravaged Trafalgar Square reveals a new Dalek threat, and one which has wiped out virtually every human in existence. Amy’s existence in this alternate world jeopardises everything, forcing the Doctor not just to defeat the Daleks’ latest plan, but save his new companion from slipping out of time itself…

I’ve tried your idea Dalek Emperour, but I’m confused. I’ve got to the pause menu, but I don’t know what to do. I don’t get “then double click- or go off the game,” what’s that supposed to mean?! But if you reply to this, try to make things simpler.

The answer to your underground problem is below on one of my earlier messages.

Thanks Dalek Emperour, I’ll try your idea!

P.S. To follow Sylvia go over the bridge made by the upside down taxi, aviod the daleks, go right and you’ll find another taxi. Use the left mouse button to get you and Amy to push it through a barrier that’ll lead you to the underground, use the space bar to get the sonic screwdriver to open a door and you’ll meet Sylvia!

Have installed the game and tried several times to play it but I keep getting the same problem. The ingame perspective keeps spinning round and round, it’s impossible to play the game in this way. Has anyone else had this issue? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem remains. My son and myself are a bit upset about this as we think the new Doctor is great, and when we saw the game, we couldn’t wait to have a go. Any help or advice would be great, thanks.

Dear, IWASBORED, Is your Dad a good pc guy? If not, read this carefully. When you go onto ‘menu’ press the left buttton on your mouse. Then click on, ‘resume’ then double click- or go off the game, then go back onto it! Got it? this may not work, but if it does, i’m offically “cooler than you”

ps. how do you get down the manhole?

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it’s me, the guy who nearly started the online argument about City of the Daleks. I need help!!!

Turns out my problems were nothing to do with the “final test” version at all. There’s something terribly wrong.

When I turn on the main menu, it seems fine, very fast, and good quality. But when I turn on City of the Daleks, it takes ages to load. Not only that, the cutscenes go very slow, but the audio is normal, causing it to be out of synch, which slows everything down. If you use the pause menu, it seems much slower than the main menu. It is so annoying as I was looking forward to the game, and unless it’s fixed, I have to rate it 2 Daleks out of 5.

I’ve tried everything, from lowering the screen resolution and increasing and decreasing the graphics quality to double-checking the website for any tips (just so you know, my laptop is connected to a mains). I would email my problem to the BBC but this is quicker. Anyone who can help please reply A.S.A.P. because I really want to give this game 5 Daleks out of 5!

Spaz.Tech Industries: turn the graphics quality (under options and display) to low. Makes no obvious difference in picture, but will stop the lagging. I had the same problem. Also don’t use the 1280×800 resolution, because it just streches the screen. Go for 1280×768 instead.
