I wouldn’t worry about the ratings because as far as i am concerned Dr Who was the top show on that night, i hardly classify Britains got talent as a show in the same league as the good doctor!

6.2 million on the night? Looking good!

Seriously do you not get this thing on overnights. Every week its the same, you see failure when there isnt any. You need to get some perspective.

Matt Smiths Second series has so far had higher final ratings than David Tennants 2nd series – puts it in perspective a bit, ditch the over nights, they are meaning less now

I don’t think they should be ditched, but they should be revealed as part of the final rating rather than a week earlier as it is causing problems.

yes that probably better- the headlines should be the massive time shifts it achieving and just how many people want to watch it

Fox Mulder does make me laugh…I think he stressess more about the ratings than the BBC.
As BooBoo said, they’re alot higher than DT’s 2nd series (the show is a lot better too. DT’s second series was awful).

I’m glad the show does seems to be edging its way back to its later slot.

On top of that, the BBC also adds on the iPLayer ratings onto the final figures when considering ratings which BARB do not. So the ratings in the BBC’s eyes are even higher.

It may seem low, but when you compare it as the 2nd highest viewing figures of the night, is not as bad.

Its getting boring repeating myself! A that’s a million up on last weeks overnights. B the first episodes final figures went 2 MILLION on time shift. That should tell u what u need to know. C you can’t compare viewing figured from the 80’s. No one gets those ratings any more there’s too much choice. It’s all good people. Why does Dr Who encourage such doom Sayers???? It’s doing well. It’s the Beebs best people. 🙂

I know what you mean the over nights are doing more harm than good and are irrelevant these days because they dont even come close to the actual figure

All that matters is the BBC are not listening to the press and are using the BARB ratings with the ratings they get from the iPlayer added on to determine Doctor Who’s future. Day of the Moon’s final ratings have come in and are 7.3 million viewers which is about the same time shift as The Impossible Astronaut had.

Steven Moffat says that if people are critising you after doing something for a while then it means you are doing good and they are jealous.

guys, just remember that it was on at 6:15 on a sunny day. people were probably having a bbq or sitting in the warm weather. Doctor Who is on too early, if it was on at 7:00 or 7:30 the ratings would increase drastically.

…only 6.2 million…oh dear. It’s almost like Doctor Who’s lost attention, despite the fact that it was the second most watched programme of the day.

This is not the final figure, people who have recorded it have still to be added. Also the BBC take into accoutn iPlayer ratings which BARB don’t in the future of the show.

These ratings are good but they could be much better, in the classic series episodes achieved ratings much higher than this overnight.

When there were only 3 channels to watch and no recording devices – totally different now

Doctor Who may have got bigger ratings in the classic series, but there were many more programmes with far bigger audiences at the time. If you go back even further, Tony Hancock was getting a huge audience for his show, but then you had only two channels to choose from!
Fans should stop worrying about the ratings – just enjoy the show.
