From The BBC Press Office…

Doctor Who – The lodger
Previously listed as Don’t Go Up The Stairs
High Definition programme
Saturday 12 June
6.45-7.30pm BBC ONE and BBC HD

There’s a house on Aickman road, and a staircase that people go up, but never down, as the time-travelling drama continues.

To solve the mystery of the man upstairs, the Doctor faces his greatest challenge yet – he must pass himself off as a perfectly normal human being, and share a flat with Craig Owens.

The Doctor is played by Matt Smith, Amy Pond by Karen Gillan and Craig Owens by James Corden. This episode is written by Gareth Roberts.

Doctor Who is simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC’s high definition channel, available through Freesat 108, Freeview 50, Sky 143 and Virgin 108.

Backstage, the Doctor is ready to find out what’s lurking upstairs in Craig’s house

It is rumoured that the 8th doctor will return for the series finale…is it possible that what is hiding upstairs is him. it would provide continuity with the 11th doctor having to be human and therefore the 8th doctor not recognising him immediately.

Also seeing as it is the 3rd to final epsiode of the season; this usually means that it is in someway connected to the others – consider “Turn Left” an episode which showed Donna without the Doctor; and at the end of the episode gave a major tie in to “The Stolen Earth” and “Journey’s End”. In season 3 “Utopia” told the story of the end of the universe and how the human race were heading to utopia under the influence of the mysetious professor YANA; when the episode drew to a close it became apparent that YANA (You Are Not Alone) was actually The Master whose memories had been stored in the fob watch (introduced in “The Family of Blood”). Furthermore; in season 2 in the episode “Fear Her”; which is actually wholly unconnected with the final two episodes; the doctor prophesises that there is a great danger coming which nobody can stop.

So; if we take all that into consideration; the episode mighthave strong links with the final 2 episodes and have a strong link. That, and with the piece of the Tardis that The Doctor pulled from the stitch in time it could all be a hint for the 8th doctor to return.

Hehe, same. Me and my brother would run up the stairs, more than likely falling flat on our faces as we went.
This sounds like it’s going to be really interesting…the Doctor as a human, THAT will be entertaining to watch.

Sounds like this years Love And Monsters,Blink or Turn Left.I like intriguing quirky concepts, such as the odd stairs!.When I was a boy me and brothers would run up our stairs,as we thought a monster, probably a werewolf, would run up after us,if we were too slow!!!.
