No More Doctor Who Confidential: The Finale
Doctor Who Confidential: The Finale
From the BBC official site
For the past seven years, Doctor Who Confidential has put you at the heart of Doctor Who, providing a unique insight into the stars, the show and the entire production.
This journey reaches a fitting finale on Saturday when Doctor Who Confidential premiers a brand new mini-adventure starring Matt Smith as the Doctor. Viewers have seen the story, Death is the Only Answer, being made, watching the entire process from script to screen. Saturday’s episode, entitled When Time Froze, also includes the ultimate feature on River Song, with Alex Kingston providing a brilliant timeline of everyone’s favourite time travelling archaeologist.
The Confidential team captured the rebirth of the show back in 2005 and for over half a decade they have given an unsurpassed, access-all-areas insight not just into Doctor Who, but the magic and mechanics of making successful drama. From an episode directed by David Tennant, to the special edition that broke the news that Matt Smith would be the Eleventh Doctor, Doctor Who Confidential has always delivered the very best in must-see behind-the-scenes action.
The final episode of Doctor Who Confidential, When Time Froze, is on BBC Three on Saturday, immediately after The Wedding of River Song.

September 28th, 2011 - 9:58pmI read that they axed it because it was costing far too much to make. i say HOW?!?! it is only filming backstage of the BBC studios and interviewing some of the stars!!!One word … Pathetic!!!

September 28th, 2011 - 9:38pmsilence will fall when the question is asked…when can russel t davies come back???
Dark Side of the Moon
September 28th, 2011 - 10:03pmI think the pitiful last series of TW answered that…that guy aint ever coming back…thank goodness. He did his time, it was good to begin with but painful towards the end…lets not be ironic* and get caught in the past – move on 🙂
*Time Travel joke 😉

Dark Side of the Moon
September 28th, 2011 - 8:13pmMmmm, those electronic petitions are a waste of time – that wont even reach the desk of the exec who pulled the plug.
What would be better is if fans emailed the BBC and explained as a Public Service Broadcaster, they should be encouraged to continue to make programmes like DW Confidential, not just for the fans, but because it gives kids (and adults) a real insight into what goes on in making a show like DW. So many kids I know have, as a result of DWC, taken a serious interest in pursuing a career in TV production, whether that be stunts, effects, make up or writing. It has also done a great job at flagging the work the BBC have done with schools – as we will see with the new mini episode in the final confidential.
From a Public Service perspective, DWC is actually more valuable than DW itself and its a real shame the BBC don’t recognise the value it has.
Dark Side of the Moon
September 28th, 2011 - 8:29pmHere is the email address to Points of View – for those who don’t know, this is a programme, where the BBC aires the thoughts (both good and bad) of viewers.
This is effectively their on-air compaint dept.
If you do complain, please make it constructive…no swearing, no rants, no text speak abreviations and check your spelling before you hit send…we want them to take us serously…its not a forum, so think about what you say before you submit it.
Good luck.

September 28th, 2011 - 7:32pmList of programs from bbc that should be stopped:
Waterloo road
eastenders
casualty
strictly come dancing
NOT DWC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
simon w
September 28th, 2011 - 7:47pmMy thought exactly.
Eastenders had gone past its sell by date 10 years ago. The same with casualty if this show was a corpes it would have been buried by now
Kieran
September 28th, 2011 - 8:55pmAs much as i love DWC , EastEnders and Waterloo Road pull in alot of viewing figures for BBC especially Eastenders which roughly pulls in 7M viewers in the 7:30 And 8:00 slot, besides confidential isnt that much of a big show to be put on BBC 1 , i fear we wont get it back till 2013 for the 50th anniversary

September 29th, 2011 - 4:39pmi also agree doctor who confidential is wayyyyy better
DWFAN#1
September 30th, 2011 - 4:48pmI agree with all apart from Casualty, as I love all Med dramas, but it wouldnt help even if they did axe them as the are on BBC1, and DWC on BBC3 and unless they move DWC to BBC3 (which they won’t) and the others get axed then we’ll just get bundled with a load of other rubbish new shows!
I am as gutted as everyone else, and hope that they find a solution!
DWFAN#1
September 30th, 2011 - 4:52pm* Move DWC to BBC1
sorry for the mistake!
videogamemad00
October 1st, 2011 - 4:35pmi agree with all that list exept waterloo road
Jason doctorwhoone
September 28th, 2011 - 7:21pmPersonally, this final series of Confidential has been terrorble. It seems to not focus on the making of the series what so ever. For example, in the episode shown after ” The girl who waited “, it showed Karen learning to drive, and Arther swimming with Sharks, something what had nothing what so ever to do with the episode. If you compare the first series of confidential to this last one, you’ll see what i mean.

September 28th, 2011 - 8:30pmi disagree they have been good

September 28th, 2011 - 6:49pmNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I JUST STARTED WATCHING YOU CANT GET RID OF CONFIDENTIAL ITS PART OF DOCTOR WHO
Barry Rix
September 28th, 2011 - 6:16pmMay this be a warning to the Doctor Who Production Team. Carry on making rubbish episodes like Closing Time, and it will not just be Confidential, that’s getting the axe.
Can we please have Doctor Who back, as a drama series, and not a CBBC series.
The Spaceman
September 28th, 2011 - 6:18pmI liked closing time, it was a fun episode and the end was just EPIC!
IAMTHEDOCTOR11
September 28th, 2011 - 7:27pmI agree with The Spaceman. closing time was cool and the ending was brilliant.
Breanna
September 28th, 2011 - 8:03pmDoctor Who HAS drama! But young people do watch the show, so they can’t overload it.
Thetasigma
September 28th, 2011 - 8:25pmI completely agree with Barry on this ! Closing time was the biggest waste of the Cybermen since the show returned. And the ending was “tacked on” to say the least. It was like “oh we have to give a few clues to the next ep so we’ll just sick them in here” A poor show and definately the worst of this season…so far…
DR-AWEOME
September 28th, 2011 - 8:47pmNo closing time was one of the best why does every ep have to try and kill the doctor you just can’t take it seriously any more James corden is great on doctor who.We need more writters on doctor who and some darker eps in doctor who why can’t doctor who be on at 8 I mean it’s not even a school night and who goes to bed before 9 any way sorry If thats a bit ranty(is that a word)? BTW #saveDWC
I Love Cybermen
September 28th, 2011 - 5:55pmThe Beeb has gone evil…I think the daleks must be behind this!

Anonymous
September 28th, 2011 - 6:39pmAnd it will be an Autumn 2012 full broadcast, the rumours were about a supposed split into Spring 2013 but there is no proof of it.
Harold Saxon
September 28th, 2011 - 5:20pmIt’s shame,it has been a very good show, will miss it, shame it is part of bbc3’s cuts! Espc when Doctor Who & Torchwood are front line top bbc shows! Hope there is still plenty of behind the scenes stuff for the box sets!
Charlie
September 28th, 2011 - 5:05pmWHAT! This is horrifying! Apparently it’s getting axed because of budget cuts, they need to focus on original shows and they want to concentrate on programmes in 9-10pm timeslot. This is outrageous!!! I’m really going to miss Doctor Who Confidential. 🙁
WOWHO
September 28th, 2011 - 5:03pmNOOOOO!
Isn’t Confidential one of the cheaper shows to make now anyway because it’s just behind the scenes of everyone’s favourite TV show.
P.s. Does anyone know of a petition or something similar where we can voice our anger?
DWFAN#1
September 30th, 2011 - 4:50pmtheres loads out there, but this one has got 19,702 at the time i wrote this!

Kieran
September 28th, 2011 - 4:57pmThe reason behind Doctor who confidential was made by BBC 3’S new Controller who has the decission to axe programmes the controller as previously axed shows such as coming of age, 2 pints of larger and a packet of crisps , IDEAL , and Family guy in the future. The controller wrote in a statement for the axing ‘ BBC 3 is trying to get more original content’ so un-original shows on bbc 3 get axed. really sad news all we have now for the whoniverse is doctor who as torchwood , sja , and doctor who confidential are now going , and also doctor who is being stretched through 2012-13.

September 28th, 2011 - 1:21pmWhat will they use to pad out the DVD/Blu-Ray box sets now? For me there’s nothing to watch on BBC3 now. Shame.
