I maybe proved wrong in a few hours time, but I feel the cliffhanger might be seeing the Doctor actually back on Gallifrey, with the Time Lord Citadel with it’s might glass dome surrounding it standing right in front of him 🙂

I don’t mind if I am proven wrong thou, it’s just how I think today’s episode will end is all 🙂

Thoroughly excited about this – the only two stories previously not to feature a companion figure (regular or one-off) have been two of the darkest and best DW stories in existence.
In case anyone was wondering, the stories in question are The Deadly Assassin (starring Tom Baker on Gallifrey) and Midnight (in which Donna does briefly appear, but doesn’t fulfill the companion role). All other stories in which the companion is absent or plays a minimal role have had a one-off companion (i.e. Craig, Astrid or Sally Sparrow).
Also notable mentions to missing stories Mission to the Unknown and The Massacre – The former featuring neither the Doctor nor companions and the latter starring solo companion Steven in a Doctor-style role, both also quite dark from what I can remember.

The 10th Doctor will feature in this episode. Yet unknown if it is a new scene or a flashback sequence.

DWM, although relatively spoiler-free, gives a few interesting hints about the finale. Apparently 11 and 12 and (possibly) 10 are what could be called a two or three parter, although maybe not in the conventional sense. Hell Bent features (SPOILER WARNING…..) Ohila and is western in style for half of the episode, whereas Heaven Sent is (SPOILER WARNING…..) in essence a 55-minute monologue/single hander starring Peter Capaldi.
(Can you hide the spoilers please?)

At the end of episode 9 just a when you think Steven has banished two-parters, what do we get at the end of face the Raven… To. Be. Freaking. Continued.

This has to be one of the best series of new who. Peter and Jenna have been incredible. The stories have been thoughtfully entertaining so far. Looking forward to seeing how it all ends, however i am going to miss Jenna/Clara.

I reckon the two-part format has helped with the more developed story-telling of this season. Besides, I like cliff-hangers. 🙂

Could the “Veil” be another form of the “Watcher” last seen in Logopolis ? If this was true then the Doctor would be spooked by knowledge he was approaching the end of his incarnation, also perhaps he has seen the “Veil” all through series 9 unbeknown to us and that’s why we’ve had references such as “dead man walking” coming from the Doctor himself also I believe he said his incarnation was “a clerical error”.

This leads me to think that this may be a series arc that we haven’t noticed as we’ve all been pondering over the hybrid and Clara’s demise. Will we see the Doctor regenerate ? Perhaps but with a twist and knowing the showrunner it’ll be a whopper.

If the Veil is just another version of the Watcher, then it’s fair to say it’s been done already.

If the Doctor does go back to Gallifrey, then wouldn’t that end the show? Hes been missing home for so long that he may just want to stop travelling. Plus there wouldnt be a companion, as humans arent allowed on Gallifrey.

No, the series would not end just because he would return home. Someone else thought the same as you do earlier this year.

I’d imagine the Doctor, from his point of view, take a century of 2 off from traveling in space and time to be among his people and any surviving family and friends, and then resume his travels once he felt Gallifrey was completely save and go back to having his adventures.

There have been times in the past his adventures have been stopped : The 3rd Doctor being exiled on earth and his Tardis immobilized, fighting during the Time War as the War Doctor, and defending Trenzalore for some centuries at the end of his last live before resuming his travels as the current Doctor.

If Gallifrey does hopefully return, then maybe attitudes towards humans and aliens may have changed somewhat, after all, any companion of the Doctor’s who has been on Gallifrey, such as Leela, is not sent back to their respective time and place straight away just because they are not Gallifreyan.

For all we know, Gallifrey will return in ‘Hell Bent’, and by the time of the Christmas Special for this year, the Doctor could say his been spending a couple of centuries on Gallifrey and feel it’s time to resume his adventures, but promises to return to them now and then 🙂

Hell Bent could actually be a reference to Gallifrey itself. In End of Time pts 1 or 2 it was said by the tenth doctor (i think) that if his planet came to earth, then it would be hell.

On BBC Centre the picture they have up for the synopsis of this episode seems to be exactly like the opening war field of Skaro in “The Magician’s Apprentice”! Are they just using any photo from Series 9 or does the photo have something to with the episode?!?!

    Exciting!!!
If the spoiler (on the cast of the episode) that I read was true, then this will be very interesting indeed.
I don’t think it’s the same ‘veil’ species as Androvax in the Sarah Jane Adventures.

It says the veil. Androvax (SJA) was a member of the veil race.
