If there’s to be no new series next year, then I hope there is still a festive special next year, preferably on Christmas Day.

Can’t see it being Daleks anymore as the synopsis doesn’t allude to it at all, neither do the promo pictures. There’s also the fact that the picture of the TARDIS team and the bones seems to be the moment that the doctor collects whatever it is that contains the dna of the most dangerous thing in the universe. Why would Dalek DNA be on bones, and if this isn’t the case why would Dalek DNA be discovered anyway when they’re all in armoured travel machines, there’s too much that doesn’t make sense

    One word title
    Shock return of old foe
It’s Chibnall’s Earthshock moment only with the Daleks hopefully

Recently Steve Wright on BBC Radio 2 read out a statement that Jodie Whittaker is to battle the Daleks on New Year’s Day.

There is only 2 things in the Dr Who Universe the Doctor would call the most dangerous in the Universe Daleks & Timelords, use anything else and Chibnall will have a riot on his hands.
Is this special actually part of Series 11? or is it a stand alone? If the latter then we may just see a classic Villain and Chibnall can claim he wasn’t lying.
My money is on a Dalek and this episode looks far better then any this Season.

Anonymous, it couldn’t be Rassilon as he’d have the same DNA as the Doctor, and every other Gallifreyan.

I’m going for a wild leap and say that the evil is Fenric.

Or a completely new monster that could just have easily been replaced by Fenric.

If she doesn’t say A Dalek at the end of that trailer then my screams will be heard all over the Earth

The trailer looks promising. Hopefully it’s more like old school Doctor Who, and better than the entire series 11.

I want a Dalek, but I don’t think it will be one. I hope it’s Rassilon. After Hell bent, he goes to Earth. He tries to take revenge on the Doctor by killing humans, but he gets trapped by humans in 9th century.

All new monsters is what Mr. chibnall said. I,m assuming he means the New years Day special as well, though i suspect after such harsh criticism this series, he will relent for season 12.

Oh please, please, please be a Dalek. I don’t believe a trailers team, a Doctor Who production team and a show runner can throw out the phrases ‘most dangerous creature in the universe’, ‘not going to stop until it’s taken control of the planet’, ‘going to kill anyone in its path’, and a dramatic expression when asked what it’s name is if it’s not going to be a Dalek. Surely they wouldn’t deliberately set out to cause hype just to dissapoint. It just worries me because this series has thrown so many different things at us and the term ‘dangerous assasin, dangerous creature, dangerous fish etc in the universe has been banded about quite a lot’ for the Stenza, Pting, Demons, etc. so I hope this isn’t a new villain

    Suppose it were A Dalek.

(1)How did it get to Earth and slip so far into Earths past?

    (2) How in most of that time if not in stasis didn’t it send out a distress signal to Dalek central command or become aware of when the rest of it’s kind where on Earth from at least “The Evil Of The Daleks to the “Stolen Earth/Journeys End”

The “DNA of the most dangerous creature in the universe” could also of course be a bit of a red herring as it could be something that’s naturally evolved when the Daleks evolution is more indirect through mutation of the Kaled race in the devastation of Skaro and Davoro’s deliberate tampering of the Kaled mutant’s development so that they would become the relentless Nazis of the universe.

The “most dangerous creature in the universe” could maybe be only one of it’s kind and hopefully not the Pting.

I hope it is the Daleks, They are as iconic as the Tardis and every Doctor needs to face their arch enemies at some point. We have had to put up with a whole series of no classic monsters so it’s about time something returned. plus Unless Chibnall wants to overuse the whole MOST dangerous creature in the Universe then it had better be the Daleks. Also there are rumours of the Daleks getting a non bronze redesign so let’s hope when they do come back it will remind fans why you should be afraid of these evil cyborgs.

Not Daleks as wouldn’t use the singular to describe them so will be some Chibnall lightweight as usual. Could be Davros I suppose. Did this man research the series before he took over. Did Jodie watch more than David and Matt. I think not. Have to be interested in NYD as seemingly nothing for months to come. When you think how many weeks Who used to be on they are all somewhat “precious” now with timing and availability. Sad.

    “Does it have a name?”
    “No.”
    “Really?”
” Well it does, but, it’s Spoilers.”
    “River Song?”
“How do you know her name?”
“Oh, I’ve been watching Doctor Who since it returned to TV.”
    “, well it’s name is… Daleks.”
    “So not Sensorites?”
“I met them on TV back in 1964! They’ve never returned!”
    “Zygons did.”
    “Oh, shut up Graham!”

    “It isn’t Daleks is it?”
    “No.”
    “Tell me what it is!”
“Look, I don’t know, it could be Daleks!”
