Doctor Who Returns Saturday 30 March 2013

Doctor Who Returns Saturday 30 March 2013

From the Official Site

We can confirm that Doctor Who returns to BBC One during the Easter weekend on Saturday, 30 March, 2013.

The Doctor is back in a fantastic adventure written by the show’s lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat. The episode – the first in a run of 8 – is directed by Colm McCarthy whose previous credits include Hustle, Spooks and Endeavour.

Later adventures in the run include episodes written by Mark Gatiss (Victory of the Daleks, Night Terrors) and Neil Gaiman.

Steven Moffat has promised us that in terms of Doctor Who, 2013 will be a ‘tremendous’ year and we’ll be bringing you more about the forthcoming adventures soon. But if you can’t wait for the TARDIS to return on 30 March, you can take a brief look now at what’s in store for the Doctor, Clara and some familiar friends… and foes!

I enjoyed every episode of the first part of the season (Asylum of the Daleks especially), and from what I’ve seen in the trailer, I think Part 2 will be every bit as good as the first half!

Asylum of the daleks was terrible. Bad script, plot holes the size of the grand canyon, amy and rorys divorce was just a plot divice, the daleks no longer remember the doctor wich has ruin the doctor dalek relasionship anf worst of all THERE WERE NO CLASSIC DALEKS

Dr Who just gets better and better! There are three generations of Dr Who fans in my family and we love it! Being the eldest fan, I watched the first episode in ’63 and was hooked for life! All the Drs have been great but Matt gives him an extra quirkiness that’s refreshing. Lets hope Dr Who outlives us all!!

I have been watching for many years and I think Matt Smith is the worst “Dr. Who”. Bring David back along with Amy, Rory and River, what a great group of characters. I have never been so disappointed as I am since Tennant left the series, what a misfortune.

      ^ Obviously doesn’t understand regeneration.
      P.S. It’s ‘The Doctor’.

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      January 28th, 2013 - 3:16pm

‘The Doctor’ NOT ‘Doctor Who’, only Peter Cushing’s Doctor was called ‘Doctor Who’.

Amy and Rory are dead, and Karen said she never wants to come back because if she and Arther did come back, then their characters end in ‘The Angels take Manhatten’ would have less of an impact in the future.

Sadly, unlike female Time Lords, male Time Lords like the Doctor cannot reverse regenerations and change back into a previous form, so having David Tennant back permanently is never going to happen, but it has been said he maybe appearing as the 10th Doctor alongside Matt Smith’s 11th incarnation, just have to wait and see.

Only Cushing’s Doctor was called Doctor Who? I take it you’ve never seen The War Machines then? Or know nothing about The Highlanders where he called himself Doctor von Wer, which means – guess what? (okay that last one was an alias, but in the former, he’s referred to as Doctor Who a couple of times.) Unless you’re saying that what the production team decides, is wrong?

I just hope it can live up to it’s first half. Asylum of the Daleks was a fantastic story, definately one of my favorites, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship was pure genius, A Town Called Mercy was just brilliant, The Power of Three was kinda meh plotwise, but great character developement, and the Angels Take Manhatten is the most heart-wrenching episode this series have ever produced. However, with a companion who reminds me strongly of Ace (Best companion ever!), new Cybermen, and a possible return of the Ice Warriors, I have high hopes!

Easter?? What happened to SM’s comments about moving Dr Who to when it’s dark outside in the winter? Looks like that was just to cover up the fact that we were only getting 6 episodes in 2012.

Pity it won’t be back on the 12th March which will be my 25th Birthday, would have made an interesting sort of Birthday present to have the 2nd half of series 7 start on my Birthday, but at least we don’t have to wait till April which I think it was ment to return originally.

apparently there is only going to be ONE 60 MINUTE SPECIAL FOR THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY! Seriously, after 50 years and thousands of hours on television one 60 minute (not even feature length) special is all they can come up with?!?!
Moffat! you better not mess this up!!!

Apparently!? So you don’t actually know. And even if it is, there was more than a whole decade when it wasn’t even on TV, so be grateful for what you get!

      January 23rd, 2013 - 3:23pm

No, sorry not “apparently” i meant, i know that there is only 1 60 minute special. I just thought they could have at least made it a bit longer, or made (for example) three 60 minute episodes. I would have assumed they would have done a hell of a lot more for the half a century celebration for doctor who.

      January 23rd, 2013 - 4:11pm

yeah be grateful and actually asylum of the daleks was a fantastic episode. plus moffat wont mess this up every episodes he has made has more of an epic and blockbuster feel to it even though i am not complaining about Russel either they are both good writers and finally if you don’t like his episodes why watch them

    • The TARDIS

      January 23rd, 2013 - 5:43pm

Moffat’s already made it clear that he’s talking about more than one anniversary special, but I still think that there should be more than just half a series for the fiftieth anniversary year.

    • Don’t diss the sonic!!!

      January 23rd, 2013 - 8:53pm

I really want it to be more than one special or at least one special that’s more than 60 minutes. Steven Moffat is the best freaking writer Doctor Who has ever had and i won’t hear anyone dissing his episodes. He didn’t mess up Asylum of the Daleks, you just can’t appreciate his brilliance and his better quality of writing than RTD could ever have.

    • drjakeyoung

      January 23rd, 2013 - 10:15pm

I think Moffat is one of the best writers too. My only complaint is the fact there is only going to be a total of 10 episodes in 2013, when in 2012 there was only 6 episodes. That is why i don’t really like the new timing slot, its the fact that we are loosing out on loads of episodes! (even if those episodes do have sightly more budget)
