Maybe the dalek story happens before the time war. It would explains the old and new daleks and I assume the daleks rising from the city.

Just noticed the Dalek spaceship/base/room/whatever has exits and entrances reminiscent of those in the original Dalek city and other ships in the 1960s – Maybe this is on Skaro…!

Could Maisie actually be Romana, because those cat creatures she is with in the trailer slightly resemble Tharils from Warrior’s Gate. I know Romana returns to Gallifrey in the books and audios, but there is still that connection between her character and the tharils so who knows

But these are fire breathing. Before I saw that image I never thought of tharils though I see where your coming from, in fact the one sat reminded me a little from the banquet scene in warriors gate.

I suppose it could be a reinvention again of an old monster. I may be wrong but I guess it’s a possibility with it being Doctor Who and all

Its possible, they did it with the minotaur creature in the god complex, the ood were based around the sense sphere like the sensorites and there are different variations of silurians and the like. They tend to do that. A new variation on an old monster.

The return of a red & gold Supreme Dalek, and a Black Dalek were what I most noticed on a first watch.

Having read a lot of the comments, it seems some of you think the all black Dalek is Dalek Sec of the Cult of Skaro himself.

But has it not occurred to you all that Dalek Sec maybe was once part of an elite of all black Daleks ?.

Don’t forget, we did see another all black Time War era Dalek on the Dalek Asylum planet.

The same can be said for the series 4 Supreme Dalek. It’s not necessarily the one who had Davros locked away in the vault on board the Dalek Crucible. It too, like Sec, could also have been part of an elite of Supreme Daleks.

‘The Day of the Doctor’ would also suggest this to be true, since the series 4 Supreme Dalek in seen in a container in the U.N.I.T. black archive.

Still, I hope the Special Weapons Gunner Dalek, not necessarily the same one from ‘Remembrance’ or ‘Asylum’, get’s to fire it’s big cannon this time . . . . preferably at Missy 😀

      August 13th, 2015 - 11:39am

Not necessarily an elite of black or supreme Daleks, because the whole point of those Daleks is that there are only one of them! However, once one of those Daleks dies (such as Sec in Evolution and the Supreme in Journey’s End), then no doubt another Dalek would be upgraded to take its place rather than the Daleks simply being left without certain roles in their society being filled, as also happens in every other hierarchy in the universe!

has anyone considerd that these daleks are all the same ones from season 2 and 4 just before they go to the time war

    • 100,000BC

      August 13th, 2015 - 4:05pm

Possibly with Sec, but the Supreme in series 4 was created by Davros after he escaped the war – Caan and Davros were the only Daleks/Kaleds in Series 4 that escaped the war.

I think it is just the new Supreme Dalek and a new Black Dalek in the same design of casing – we don’t change the crown jewels every time we get a new monarch!

      Or maybe the prequel.

  • DOCTOR WHO ONE

    August 13th, 2015 - 7:19am

CLASSIC DALEKS !!. No doubt Moffat is making up for his god awful ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ and a lack of action for the classic Daleks in the story just sitting there, including the Special Weapons Gunner Dalek.

Now, let’s see, who do we have here –

    [1st shot]
‘Evil of the Daleks’ Emperor Dalek Guard.
‘Remembrance of the Daleks’ Renegade Dalek’.

    [2nd shot]
2 ‘The Daleks’ Daleks, and no doubt they are re-used props from ‘An Adventure in Space and Time’.
‘Evil of the Daleks’ Emperor Dalek Guard.
    Special Weapons Gunner Dalek.

And interestingly both shoots, Dalek Sec’s casing and the Supreme Dalek from series 4 are being re-used . . . . but are they ment to be Dalek Sec and the Supreme Dalek from series 4 which would suggest that different eras of Dalek history is merging, allowing different generations of Dalek to meet one another therefore altering history, or could they be entirely new Daleks who are not Dalek Sec and the Series 4 Supreme Dalek but purely of the same model of casing being re-used by the Daleks ?.

    Time will tell . . . . always does.

And I hope the Special Weapons Gunner Dalek get’s some proper screen time this time around 😀

I don’t really like the paradigm daleks apart from the supreme Dalek, In asylum if the Daleks it looked good with the white supreme against the bronze Daleks because it made him look superior where as he looked pretty insignificant in victory Of the Daleks. If they do bring them back I liked the more metallic design from asylum

The problem is most whovians seem to be judging them purely on looks, I feel pretty certain that if Moffat was to give these daleks just one moment of pure evil, commiting an act so terrible even by dalek standards that may make up for there rainbow design

  • Cyber10Dalek

    August 13th, 2015 - 12:07am

I was already pretty excited for this series from the previous trailer due to the mix of new and bizarre monsters we were getting as well as Missy returning! And who can forget the Daleks? It was intrigueing enough to see a Classic Dalek behind the bronze one and what looked like the Dalek city of Kalaan on Skaro, but in this trailer we’ve been shown countless 60s era Daleks and Bronze Daleks, the 2008 Supreme Dalek and what appears to be Dalek Sec, as well as an Emperor’s Personal Guard, a Ressurection or Rememberance era Dalek AND the Special Weapons Dalek! Not only that, but we can see a swarm of them rising from the previously unidentified city, which pretty much confirms it’s a place of Dalek residence, if not situated on Skaro itself. Plus we know the Daleks will be in the opening two-parter since we see one with Missy. Overall, very interested about what The Magican’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar hold for the Daleks and the Master/Missy. I swear to GOD the episodes better not have the different Dalek designs have no major role in the story, as was the case in Asylum.

    I have a bit of a theory.

We all know that the Doctor lies, but what if another Time Lord (a mean one) is also a good liar. The three doctors in TDOTD sent Gallifrey to a pocket universe, the mean time lord found the real Mastet (John Simm, assuming he hadnt regenerated after the Doctor sent him back to the time war with Rassilon and Gallifrey). Anyway, this other Time Lord found the Master, murdered him, took on his name and carried on doing evil antics “in the name of the master” (see what i did there?).

Anyway, the evil one now calling herself Missy, short for mistress. And obvs, a woman callin herself Master would seem a bit strange.

And with the new series, Missy is seen with Daleks….. The Daleks are enemies of the Master as far as i can remember, so why would they team up with a being that they despise?

The master did team up with the daleks way back in the Jon Pertwee era.

    • mr. e

      August 13th, 2015 - 1:35am

      Didnt they become enemies though

    • 100,000BC

      August 13th, 2015 - 12:24pm

As with many of the Master’s dodgy alliances in the 1970s, they had a bit of a falling out after they had teamed up in 1973’s Frontier in Space. The Daleks later put the Master on trial and exterminated him at the beginning of the TV movie.
The Master escaped the time war at the very beginning using a Chameleon Arch by becoming the human Professor Yana. This could suggest cowardice, or an unwillingness to fight against the Daleks who could become potential allies in the future.
We see Missy with a Dalek in this trailer, although whether they are on good terms or bad terms is unclear. Knowing the Master, it may well be a bit of both.

    • The Moffat Paradox

      August 13th, 2015 - 4:36pm

The Roger Delgado Master had an alliance of convenience with the Daleks in the Pertwee era “Frontier in Space” with each seeing the other as an ultimately expendable (though in the Master’s case it was probably more delusional) means to their ends.(He makes contemptuous remarks about them in private in comparison to himself.)

Then the John Simm Master revealed he was resurrected with a new set of regenerations by the Time Lords to be part of Gallifreyan special forces against them in the Time War.

    • 100,000BC

      August 13th, 2015 - 4:55pm

The Daleks also executed the Master at the start of the TV movie but he escaped by becoming a weird snake thing.

Knowing the Master, her relationship with the Daleks is likely to involve both rivalry and alliance at various points.

    • CJ

      August 13th, 2015 - 7:02am

We already know their origins! The Cult of Skaro were just four ordinary Daleks…

Dalek Sec was a commander of the Seventh Incursion Squad sent to wipe out the remnants of the Mechanoids which they succeeded in doing.

Dalek Caan was an Attack Squad Leader of the Thirteenth Assault Group.

Dalek Thay was the commandant of Station Alpha, the most secret Dalek research facility.

Dalek Jast was a Force Leader of the Outer Rim Defensive Battalion.

After doing this all four of them were promoted by the Emperor Dalek to become the Cult of Skaro.
