The Witch’s Familiar Sat 26 September 7.45pm – 8.35pm
Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire: no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist?
And will there be mercy?
Writer: Steven Moffat
Director: Hettie Macdonald
Producer: Peter Bennett

September 26th, 2015 - 8:28amIn one scene the doctors hand appears to glow brightly, to me it looks as though he may use a regeneration trick to change Davros and or the daleks..?
DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 22nd, 2015 - 7:09pmALL PRAISE DAVROS !! ALL PRAISE DAVROS !! ALL PRAISE DAVROS !!
ALL PRAISE DAVROS !! ALL PRAISE DAVROS !! ALL PRAISE DAVROS !!
Hope Davros finally does become the one true leader of the Daleks. He did create them after all, and he is the one true god of all Daleks as well, [not you, Emperor Dalek of 2005 😛 ], and if Davros does stay as leader of the Daleks by the time ‘The Witch’s Familar’ is over, then well done Davros, bout time they recognized you as their one true leader !! 😀
“I created the Daleks, it is I who shall guide their destiny . . I am the supreme Commander !!”

September 22nd, 2015 - 5:16pm20 seconds into the first trailer, davros lifts the doctors left hand up… Did anyone else notice the ring on his RING FINGER!!!!!!!!!!
DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 22nd, 2015 - 7:05pmYeah we know the Doctor wears a ring now, has done since last year. In fact, the reason why Peter Capaldi’s Doctor wears a ring is because he refused to take his wedding ring off for filming, so a special ring was made with a jewel on it which Peter can wear on the same finger he wears his wedding ring on, so your actually looking at two rings, but it looks like one.
Past Doctor’s to wear rings was the first 3 Doctors.

September 22nd, 2015 - 10:28amI don’t believe the ratings are as low as they say. 4:6 million???? There’s no way the fix factor beat the doctor!
Obsie
September 22nd, 2015 - 11:19amWhatever they are, I have sneaking suspicion that the X Factor did beat it. However, the next episode is up against rugby it may fair better. However, let’s see if the BBC are brave enough to shift it’s precious “Stictly” to another time and let Doctor Who start the night

September 21st, 2015 - 11:32pmIn the next time trailer there’s a scene where the doctor is on a flight of stairs and he puts his hands up in the air and there’s some weird blobs that appear but if you look closely they look like soldiers holding guns up to the doctor I wonder what that’s about?

September 22nd, 2015 - 11:29pmAnd I think those stairs are the same as the ones used as The Royal Collection in The Pandorica Opens. Probably just a reuse of location mind.

September 26th, 2015 - 12:36pmThose black and white scenes look like the horror scenes from the Hartnell episode the chase, which coincidently involved the Daleks with their own time machine, which the Doctor must use in order to go back in time and stop Davros as a child. Just a theory.

September 20th, 2015 - 11:41amI hope Davros doesn’t plan on killing all his daleks I couldn’t cope if he suddenly turned good
DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 20th, 2015 - 3:26pmDavros was born evil, so him turning good is practically never going to happen, and as someone who has listened to the ‘I’Davros’ audios from Big Finish, it’s quite clear Davros never will be good.
In one of the aforementioned ‘I’Davros’ audios, or perhaps another Davros audio, someone says to Davros “don’t you feel ?” or something like that, he replies –
“Feel ? . . . . I don’t feel anything”.
So Davros has no sense of feeling. His pure evil, and his Daleks are very much an extension of his inability to care and feel for others other then himself.

September 20th, 2015 - 3:56pmWhat is that the Supreme Dalek says in the “Next Time” trailer? Something Davros, something Davros? Please tell me?!

September 21st, 2015 - 8:52amAhh was it ‘all praise Davros’ ? . . . . ah right, couldn’t really tell with Davros talking over the Supreme Dalek and and the music playing over it either which did make it hard to hear the Supreme Dalek speaking.

September 21st, 2015 - 9:39pmI thought it was all hail Davros
The Moffat Paradox
September 21st, 2015 - 10:18pm(Before I start haven’t read this anywhere else so it’s my conjecture.)
Haven’t heard/ read I Davros but think in series canon there doing it as being there was nothing particularly evil about Davros in his youth; he BECOMES mad/evil through events/circumstances in the context of the Kaled/Thal war which leads to his creating the Daleks.
I think to his horror the Doctor realises he has been caught in a temporal paradox;in leaving boy Davros to the hand mines with sonic screwdriver left behind Davros was able to use it to escape and as a future scienist to perhaps reverse engineer it to give him technological insights that also lead to the creation of the Daleks. So in not helping boy Davros the Doctor is also part responsible for THE CREATION OF THE DALEKS!!!No wonder he hasn’t wanted a replacement screwdriver!
I think this is also about about a supposedly dying Davros getting the Daleks to recognise the Doctor as their new Lord because he’s had a part in their creation all along.
And then he appears to be going back to boy Davros with a Dalek gun (Though Tardis is supposed to be “destroyed”) this time to kill him and stop it all happening.
Dalek the Supreme
September 20th, 2015 - 4:06amWell, I have to say I’m interested to see where this all is going. I’m expecting a cop out being what brings Missy and Clara back, but the rest of the episode is a real wildcard. It could be engaging and exciting, or an insulting cop out. Hopefully we won’t get another Death in Heaven type ending where all the Daleks fly up into the… um… maybe they won’t explode and save the day because of the power of love? Oh well. I’m just gonna have to see.

September 20th, 2015 - 12:33amlooks like Davros wants to came back too and oh how I missed those white corridors
2doctors2000
September 19th, 2015 - 9:47pmThe Doctor said something interesting – Davros made the Daleks, but who made Davros, maybe he falls into the reality trap, being faced with death from the Doctor inadvertently scarred him and allowed him to produce the Daleks from his thoughts and ideas in the first place. Or maybe in the original timeline that he might re-write he left them there for good, and he was immobilised and placed in a wheelchair eventually. We don’t know whether the incident where the Doctor wants to kill Davros is already part of the timeline?

Dalek the Supreme
September 14th, 2015 - 8:25pmI hope the temptation mentioned is related to the ‘Good Dalek’ concept of last year’s Into the Dalek. “If I can turn one Dalek, I can turn them all.” I’d be interested to see how the series would handle turning the Doctor’s greatest enemies into good guys, at least for a while. It would make a nice change, seeing as they’re featured every season.

September 12th, 2015 - 7:46amRight. Let’s assume the boy is Davros. Let’s assume the Doctor does save him (perhaps from his first injury – maybe the field of eye hands was the cause of his paralysis, but not fatal. Something that was meant to happen in the evolution of the Davros we know).
WHY assume the Doctor’s greatest temptation is to KILL Davros?
This is the Doctor. Wouldn’t it be more likely he would be tempted to watch over Davros in the hope he could prevent the injuries which led Davros into insanity. If Davros could grow up with all his intellect & none of the bitterness… I think the Doctor might try that if he could.
But what of the Daleks? If Davros never created them (either because the Doctor killed or saved him) wouldn’t that cause a massive paradox? Maybe that’s why there are so many different Daleks. The last survivors, echos of the time when Davros was insane.
Lily of the Valley
September 22nd, 2015 - 7:26amthat’s a very good theory, here is mine: I think that because in the first scene of the episode, when the young Davros tells the Doctor his name, the doctor does not help, because it seems like he doesn’t, but in the last scene, you see him time travel back to the weird hand moment and he says ‘Exterminate’. he could either be A) killing davros, or B) killing the weird hand-eye things. And another theory of mine (Just putting it out there) is that Missy couldn’t be killed because she still has a lot to do, the doctor is going to save Clara, because they are besties, and the TARDIS doesn’t explode, because doctor who, wouldn’t be doctor who without the tardis. another thing is, missy and Clara both died too quickly, if you look at the other companions deaths, they were all emotional and heart-to-heart, not at all like their death. The TARDIS needs to be there because he is a time lord, he doesn’t like the hand held time travel and I know that this series isn’t the last of doctor who (they’re going to come up with as many excuses to keep it going as possible). I don’t think that the daleks are going to die or become extinct or something, because they are the Doctors greatest nemesis and they are the villains that make doctor who so famous, so they can’t get rid of them. davros, I think, will die though. (if any of you are wondering how he is still alive after he ‘died’ in the 10th Doctors series, either no-one saw him die, and therefore he could have lived, or the Doctor time travelled to the point before that.) Davros IS going to die at some point, because they have just been putting off his death for so many years now, it needs to happen. the doctor who series isn’t predictable so I could have it wrong, but some of its just math, logic, and common sense.

September 24th, 2015 - 8:17pmAlthough I was horrified by the implication of the Doctor killing a child, I had considered the eye mines might be the target. He could be attempting more humour with reference to future events.
I totally agree with your point, Lily, about the Tardis. Someone even suggested the Doctor could steal & redesign Missy’s Tardis to match his own! A Tardis is not just a machine, she’s a living being encased in a form which can exist alongside her pilot(s). Simply changing vehicle would disrespect the Doctor’s Tardis & possibly upset Missy’s (you never know, maybe her Tardis shares her mad goals & ambitions). Just because the Master was prepared to enslave the Doctor’s Tardis to create a paradox machine does not mean the Doctor would steal an unwilling Tardis to create a hollow copy of his most consistant companion. I don’t think the Doctor’s Tardis can be dead. 4th Doctor did use a transmat though…

DOCTOR WHO ONE
September 11th, 2015 - 8:19am‘With his greatest TEMPTATION before him’ . . a clear indication that Davros is that boy from the ‘Magician’s Apprentice’ trailer, and that the Doctor will obviously be TEMPTED to kill Davros as a child !. We all know for a fact the story is loosely being based on that famous bit of dialogue from ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, in fact I can just imagine it now.
Boy: HELP ME !!.
Doctor: It’s ok, I’m here, give me your hand . . . . right, now JUMP !! . . . . there now, you alright .
Boy: Yes, thank you sir.
Doctor: Your very welcome, what’s your name ?.
Boy: Davros . . . .
And then the Doctor just stares in disbelief when he realizes his with Davros as a child, looking at him as seen in the above video.
DAVROS LIVES !! 😀

September 20th, 2015 - 4:01amI have to say that I did not honestly thing that the boy was Davros, and thought wishful thinking was what brought the notion. I commend you on actually successfully predicting the central conflict of the episode.

September 10th, 2015 - 7:11pmNine more sleeps to go… I can hardly stand it. I’m not sure if reading hints & speculation is helping. And yet…
The Doctor faces temptation when he has no one to check him. Oh dear. That doesn’t usually go well.
And breathe. Just nine more sleeps & the start of this will be shown.
(Yes I realise it’s 16 to the Witch’s Familiar but first episode first). 48 hours of the tedium of work. A handful of slightly diverting TV shows. An attempt at a measured re-watching of series 8 which will probably degenerate into a binge watch (or several). And Playstation to break things up. I might just make it.
