Face The Raven 21st November at 8.10pm to 9pm

Doctor Who: Face The Raven

The Doctor and Clara, with their old friend Rigsy, find themselves in a magical alien world, hidden on a street in the heart of London.

Sheltered within are some of the most fearsome creatures of the universe… and Ashildr (Maisie Williams)! With a death sentence hanging over their heads, not all of the intruders will get out alive.

Well, goodbye to the real Clara tonight. Clearly the Clara in the finale dressed as a waitress in an American Diner is an echo of the real Clara [like Oswin Oswald and Clara Oswin Oswald was], and like those other echo’s, it’s this waitress Clara’s job to do what all the others was born to do, to save the Doctor !.

Now you might say to me “no, because the echo’s was made by the real Clara to fix the Doctor’s timeline after the Great Intelligence muddled it up”, but a recent Doctor Who Magazine comic-strip suggests otherwise.

So tonight we say goodbye to the real Clara, but in the finale, she’ll turn out to be an echo who may or may not die to save him [the one in a recent DWM comic-strip did not die but nearly did] and that will the last time we see Clara in the form of an echo of herself.

I like that, because we first met Clara through 2 echo’s, to end her time with the Doctor with an echo seems a fitting way to say goodbye to Clara.

Don’t think Zygon, it’s too obvious, plus why would a Zygon want to disguise itself as Clara in an American Diner anyway ?.

Lol. Yeah Diner!Clara is probably an echo. Additionally, there are suspicions that she works in the same diner that the eleventh doctor visited before he got “killed” by “river” at lake silencio. Maybe, if diner Clara does die by saving The Doctor’s life, it’s because she was maybe just strolling by silencio and astronaut!River’s gun Ray deflected off the Doctor’s bow tie and hit her.

    I think they’re making Clara’s sacrifice/final exit too obvious.
Either Ashildr (who is, lest we forget, immortal, and therefore may be happy to finally die OR would not be killed by the Raven and therefore no sacrifice would be made) faces the raven instead or there is a twist e.g Clara carries on after death as a final impossible girl splinter whom we meet in episode 12.

I have read that Clara is to be “the first companion killed off for 30 years” (Adric being the first). But The Angels Take Manhattan saw the deaths of Amy and Rory, so wouldnt Clara be the fourth? Or the fifth if we include Katarina from the 60’s?

We never saw Adric die. The ship exploded, but there is no proof Adric’s body was on it. He may have teleported out.

And with Amy and Rory, we see their gravestones next to the Weeping Angel (which by the way, does not move a single muscle when the Doctor and River are not looking at it, and there supposed to be faster than you can imagine). Guess it wanted a stroll in NYC

    • 100,000BC

      November 20th, 2015 - 3:55pm

Amy and Rory left, lived a full and happy life, then died of old age; Adric, Katarina and Sara Kingdom died during their adventures with the Doctor. Given that it’s a show about time travel, Amy and Rory “died” just as much as Nyssa or Tegan or Mel or Rose or Martha.

Also, as I think was explained in the episode, the angel was ‘weak’ and after it had sent Amy back it became a statue

Can we all just take a moment, Davros spoke a hybrid, half timelord half Dalek. And at the end of the witches familiar missy finds herself surrounded by daleks. Maybe she agrees to help create the hybrid and then turns up in the finale as an enemy again as opposed to being a sadastic side kick

And in Capaldi’s first season Missy said “Clara, my Clara, oh I chose you well”. So it’s possible, oh and don’t forget, “it’s the end, but the moment has been prepared for”, as a certain person once said.

I think the Ood at the 12sec mark is using a angle grinder(cutting tool) to remove the Cybermans head. I don’t think their electrocuting each other. This episode looks the best of the Capaldi era I like Capaldi as the Doctor, but i think he is being let down by poor writing.

Well, this obviously is not a spoiler, but we know for a fact that this is not Clara’s last appearance because she will be seen in the finale dressed as an American Diner waitress, the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine out last week clearly shows that.

Bit silly that ages back we was told that Clara was going to leave at some point during series 9, but she’s been with the Doctor the entire 9th series, so I don’t know why Moffat decided to say “Oh she’ll be leaving at some point during series 9” when we now know he was lying through his teeth. Honestly, that man sure has a track record of being a liar from time to time, his not always honest, and it makes him unpopular too.

Didn’t expect the Cyberman and the Ood, I wonder why they are in the story.

    Course, once this episode has come on gone . . . . OH – MY – RASSILON !! πŸ˜€

GALLIFREY RETURNS AT LAST !! . . . . oh, and goodbye Clara, we’ll miss you, except the haters, but hey, ignore them love, you’ve been brilliant πŸ™‚

Knowing Steven Moffat, the trailer shows Clara saying “Goodbye, Doctor.”, but she’s probably upset because she leaving him to go on holiday but the flights have been cancelled or something.

I seen a theory on another website about how this episode may unfold and how it would tie into the finale, basically the doctor will be the one to face the raven and `die` at the episodes cliffhanger. Heaven sent would see Clara distraught but eventually, keeping with the episodes title, missy would arrive with the doctors confession dial which, when opened would include some very cryptic instructions on how to bring the doctor back. Clara and Missy would try and figure what the doctors confession means.
meanwhile, the doctor has found his way to some sort of afterlife/dimension/zone/ thingy (the nethersphere?) whilst there he some how comes into contact or has a vision of Gallifrey and how to bring it back and may also find away to bring himself back to life, all whilst simultaneously being stalked by the veil creature.
Back to Missy and Clara, Missy thinks that someone must sacrifice themselves to go fetch the doctor, killing themselves in the process, of coarse Missy isn’t one for self sacrifice and murders Clara instead who meets the doctor (and possibly Danny)in the afterlife.
Hell bent, in short, the doctor finds some sort of way to back Gallifrey, there will probably be some sort of threat/ monster/ invasion/ revelation etc… but in the end the Doctor also finds a way to bring back himself and Clara, however she chooses to stay in the nethersphere with Danny instead. the doctor will arrive back in this life just in time for Christmas, and a certain Doctor Song…

Its just a fan theory but i think its pretty neat

Looks like fun – I like mixes of aliens in one story. But may get criticized for ripping off the setting of Diagon Alley from Harry Potter.

Also how many alien cultures are hidden on Earth. Do the Zygons know of this place? What of the Silent who are supposed to be everywhere? Can we go have some adventures on other worlds again rather than cram everything into the UK?

Finally, I’m confused that they are departing from the two-party story format that has worked so well this year. It so felt like this week’s episode ended on a cliff-hanger.

Moffatt’s said that it’s possible this is the start of a three-part finale.
I’ll admit, Moffatt’s word means precisely nothing, but I imagine this’ll be kind of like the Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived: two-part-ish, not-two-part-ish.
