There being no satisfactory wrapping up the plot in series 5 or in series 6 is the KEY reason I have had a problem with Steven Moffat’s creative control and gave my name here as The Moffa Paradox.

Doctor who is NOT JJ Abraham’s Lost in which things are thrown in without making any coherent overall sense or made seemingly too cryptic or ambigous so it needs endless debate about what is actually going on in the series taken as a whole.

Unless its spelled what “Silence Will Fall When When The Question Is Asked Which Is Unknown” actually means beyond nebulous gibberish and how it all relates to series 5 & 6 at the end of Series 7 or in the 50th anniversary special then I will be forced ( especially after seeing last week’s “Cold War” that I really enjoyed) to come to a conclusion that I think others have had at the back of their heads as well.

Namely remove Steven Moffat from creative control and put Mark Gattis in his place!

No when gaillifreyains are introduced to the time vortex they choose another name to go by like the doctor chose the doctor because he wanted to help people when the master choose it because he wanted to control people

So in The Name of the Doctor we may find out his name but what about Clara? We are going to find out who she is at the End won’t we. But I got a funny feeling that Clara may be The Doctor’s Granddaughter, who else thinks that and agrees with me?

I think he is an god like figure who is master of his own destiny similer to the cartmell masterplan. I don’t like the idiwa of him being a madman with a box but a lonly god

Woah, hang on dude, what makes you say the Daleks are returning ?.

There’s been no mention of them returning any time soon, so my guess is your wishing really hard for them to return in the finale only to be extremely disappointed when they won’t turn up.

Just cos Daleks are the best Doctor Who villan’s ever created does not mean they have to be in the finale all the time..

Moff has got a strange obsession with this, dating back to Silence In The Library/FOTD, so i imagine it will tie up River Song’s connection with wispering it to the tenth, but… its just not that interesting, and like a lot of other fans have said, why does it need to be spelled out?

I agree, I’m just not interested in the Doctor’s name. Do we need to know it? No. Will knowing the answer make the show any better? No. Does being asked the question make the show any more interesting? No. It just really annoys the fans.

  • Ben Roberts

The texture of the episode title is Galifreyan writing! What if the Doctor’s name is revealed – but written in Galifreyan so no-one can read it. We already know from AGMGTW that the TARDIS doesn’t translate Galifrey.

Maybe this is where River finds out his name! When the question is asked, he would whisper it in her ear, fulfilling the prophecy! Another way could be him saying my name is… then closing theme, and in the 50th anniversary just as he was about to say his name, all his other 10 incarnations would turn up and stop him from saying it, with the music ‘the majestic tale(of a madman in a box)’.

These are in my opinion the perfect resolutions

I wouldn’t like the others stopping him saying his name as it makes him sound like he’s not as clever as the others and doesn’t know as much( when he knows more as he has lived longer, so knows what they know and more) and as if he doesn’t really care if he says his name or not. I don’t know if it makes sense or not, but that’s my opinion.

They can’t just reveal his name out can they? But at the Academy they called The Doctor Theta Sigma, on earth he calls himself John Smith, Davros called him Destroyer of Worlds, and The Daleks called him The Oncoming Storm and now The Predator but should they reveal his name? Like Ian Chesterton said “If we knew his name we would of had a clue to all this”

Anyone else thinking that this could lead back to the chunk of TARDIS found in the cracks in time during Series 5? The Doctor is looking through a damaged TARDIS window after all and the plot was never actually wrapped up in Series 6 or even mentioned for that matter.

Even if his name is revealed, The mystery’s around the doctor wont end,
for one we do not know how the eight regenerated to the ninth
we don’t know who his family is
and most of all we shall not know how he dies or even his full story,
so we still have mysteries to go on.

Things that I have noticed in the poster that seem to be noteworthy:

    1. The episode title “the name of the doctor” has galifraian writing on it.

    2. Behind the doctor in the picture there is a blue light with a shadow on it .
