somewhere on the web it said he won’t be doing the same stuff as he is now when he is 40 and now he’s only 29 so think about it he could be here on doctor who- the best show ever, for a very long time beating tom baker’s long reign as the doctor besides matt smith is too good and too cute to leave now or in 2013 after the 50th anniversary

I’m DoctorWho2011 and what I found for Episode 8 (Let’s Kill Hitler) Is BIG NEWS!!!

In the desperate search for Melody Pond, the TARDIS crash lands in 1930s Berlin, bringing the Doctor face to face with the greatest war criminal in the Universe. And Hitler. The Doctor must teach his adversaries that time travel has responsibilities – and in so doing, learns a harsh lesson in the cruellest warfare of all…

IF MATT IS DOING ANOTHER 14 EPS, THEN HE CAN’T DIE, REMEMBER WHEN THE ASTRONAUT SHOT HIM?? SO BASICALLY THE DOCTOR MUST SOMEHOW OVERCOME THE ASTRONAUT!! HOORAY!!

There’s a 200 year gap between the current doctor and the future doctor who dies anyway, so (apart from the fact that killing him would be rather a boring way of resolving that story!) he’d have another 200 years to keep entertaining us if they did.

The BBBC have to be careful now, the doctor only gets 12 regenerations, so there can only be 13 doctors. Unless they use some deus ex machina to negate that, there will only be twodoctors after Matt :O
But I heard somewhere that Matt will be around until 2015 o_O but that was when he got chosen to be Doctor, it could have changed…

It’s been said that the Doctor now has unlimited regenerations (although this has never been mentioned in the show).

      Here’s a link:

      http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2010/oct/12/doctor-who-immortal-reveals-bbc

In SJA RTD put in the script that the Doctor had 500-something regenerations, which is odd, but there you go.

The Master was given extra regenerations at some point if I recall too, so yeah… don’t worry, the BBC won’t stop Doctor Who at 13 if the show is still going well. Even if they do stick with the original ’12 regenerations only’ idea, they’ll find a way around it.

He only did 3 series (series 2/series 3/series 4) so he did 3 years in doctor who matt is doing 4 series so he would be doing series 7 and series 8

David Tennant did four years (not three) although those four years only consisted of three series.

If he did! It could be a good ending to Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary! Still i don’t want him to leave, just like i didn’t want Tennant, Christopher, McCoy, Baker or Pertwee to leave! But anyway another lovable Doctor-like Doctor would take his place!

There’s quite a few reports that Matt has a 5 year contract… 3 years + an optional 2, although I have no doubt the contract is conditional on ratings and whatnot. Hopefully he will stick around for the entire 5… or more. Someone needs to beat Tom Baker’s record. :p

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1141554/Dr-Who-wants-millionaire-Matt-Smith-signs-year-deal-play-Time-Lord.html

The only person who could replace Matt atm would be Cumberbatch imo:

Although I’m hoping things stay as they are! We’ve barely gotten to know the 11th Doctor… there’s still so much to tell.

Has anyone heard how long The Moff plans to continue with Doctor Who?

He will, he’s signed a 3 year deal (staring in 2010), but this might be extended if matt smith wants to play the doctor past the 50th anniversairy.

Dr who to return. Matt smith is coming back with his tweeds and bow ties. But i am not happy about steven moffat returning. sorry. But i think we need some one clever but not to clever like mr moffat. I personly want neil gaiman. I know he’s clever but he has a real talent with writeing. He is wicked. I loved the doctor’s wife. I want suranne jones as the frist female dr.

When Matt first signed up it was reported he had a five year contract… (search around the ‘net, it’s there) hopefully that’s true since I really don’t want him to leave!

The only way I could be ‘happy’ with Matt leaving is if Benedict Cumberbatch takes over… that would make me ‘happy-sad’. (He could use his natural hair colour and finally have a ginger…ish Doctor :p)

I hope Matt/Mofatt stick around for more than another 14 eps. 😀

He’s already confirmed that he is on a year by year basis, no “five year contract” also Benedict Cumberbatch does not want to play the Doctor, he does not like the filming arrangements.
