He might get it but Were all still reeling over the David tenant. He has been imprinted on our minds too much. Ifs hard to get rid of the stigma, I wonder how Tom bakers fans got over it when he left the role after seven years ?

I forgot about DT about 10 minutes into “The Eleventh Hour”. DT played the Doctor, and he played him well…but Matt Smith IS the Doctor. I don’t care a jot if MS cant act in any other way…the way he acts is perfect for the Doctor. Besides…if DT had cried one more time, I would have slapped him – DT played him with too many human emotions…the Doctor is an alien…Matt Smith (as with Tom Baker) capture this brilliantly.

I dont wanna come down hard but DT is gone he may or may not come back as one of those timeline alteration thingys but only time will tell.

for now try to remember MS is the doctor. And 2 be perfectly honest he kinda rocks.

Hes good BUT He’s not THAT good, he will lose most likely. The man can’t do serious acting .

I’m sorry but this is really not fair. Matt can do serious acting. Shakespeare isn’t the only type of serious acting, Matt was in Christopher and his Kind and his performance powerful. On par with every actor to play the Doctor, never has there been a bad actor in part of the Doctor.

I also disagree but that fact is that he is being nominated for playing the part of the Doctor…which in my opinion, there hasn’t been an actor who has played the role as well as Matt Smith with the exception of the big man him self (Tom)…they are the only two who played the Doctor as an alien…and you could never forget he was an alien.

He should bring some of that Serious Acting from those shows to Doctor Who.I Admitted I never seen any other matt smith shows ,I was only judging his acting on DR WHO that’s all, I’m just surprised and gobsmaked that he was nominated, I thought Dr.Who was going down the tubes 🙁

you do realise someone can act 1 part in a fun and playful way, but still be a good actor-the doctor shouldnt be dull and serious like dt was

Doctor Who certainally isn’t going down the tube and Matt Smith can do very serious acting. The scene where he was put in the Pandorica was extremenally powerful and not a gag in sight and now S6 is surely proving you wrong on the thought he can’t act seriously in Doctor Who. DT certainally wasn’t dull in fairness and as much as you can hate his Doctor, one thing that can’t be denied is that he is one of the finest british actors of our generation along with pretty much every new series Doctor.

Do viewers vote for this category? If not, then I will be suprised if MS wins. When these awards are decided upon by committees etc, they tend to be political…DW has won loads of awards over the last few years, so they’ll be under pressure to find a reason to vote for someone besides MS. My money is on Jim Broadbent but I think Daniel Rigby deserves to win….but I’d love it if Matt did win.

Four top top actors (great for SM too having wrote two of the above programmes). I’ll risk upsetting everyone and say that although this would be very close, I would actually say that Daniel Rigby deserve to win this award…he gave an absolutley stunning and top notch performance.

Steven Moffat does not like this at all, he knows that no matter what he will ose, potentially twice (like at the NTAs).
