My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen
My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen
Saturday 23 April
6:45pm – 7:00pm
CBBC
Airing immediately after Doctor Who on BBC1, here’s a celebration of the Time Lord’s greatest companion played by actor Elisabeth Sladen, who passed away this week. Contributors include David Tennant and Matt Smith. Producers Gillane Seaborne and Brian Minchin.
Elisabeth Sladen created one of Doctor Who’s best loved and most enduring characters, Sarah Jane Smith. For over 35 years she brought the feisty, compassionate journalist to life, creating a figure that was adored by audiences of all ages – truly a heroine whose appeal had no boundaries.

April 23rd, 2011 - 11:36amMy BEST Companions are Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and I’m so sad that she’s gone.
Michelle Ryan, Kylie Minogue and Linsey Duncan (Lady Christina De Souza, Astrid Peth and Adelaide Brooke) would have been good series companions.
R.I.P.
Rest In Peace

April 22nd, 2011 - 10:27pmThis has been a great shock for us all and I believe that she is now watching down from Heaven and smiling her famous big grin. I look up at the stars now each night and say thank you Liz for everything. the really sad thing for me is I never got to meet Liz in person but one day when I pass away and reach heaven Liz is the first I will look for.

April 22nd, 2011 - 2:35pmI only know of David Tennant and Matt Smith, obviously they are having to put it together quite quickly so there may be other contributors filming as we speak

booboo
April 22nd, 2011 - 10:41pmTo be honest it shows how much the BBC thought of her, to get a special tribute programme like this so soon is quite rare
JuddonMaster
April 23rd, 2011 - 1:50pmYes I agree Booboo they don’t do it with a lot of stars it’s probably because they know how popular she is but it’s a shame it’s not 30mins but anythings better than nothing

April 21st, 2011 - 4:19pmI grew up on Dr Who, with Lis as his companion and I had hoped that maybe my own children would get the chance to do the same with The Sarah Jane Adventures, sadly that will not happen now.
A terrible loss to her family, and to those of us who remember her as a part of our own childhood. May you rest in peace Elisabeth, we miss you.
silence
April 21st, 2011 - 1:17pmwhat will happen to the sarah jane adventures we will never now what happened to k9 and how he got discovered by those guys in the show k9

April 21st, 2011 - 11:44amWhy wasn’t there a show for Nicholas Courtney as well? Seems a bit unfair.
booboo
April 21st, 2011 - 11:52amIn a way yes, but in this case Elisabeth Sladen was a major character in an on-going TV series, some of series 5 has even been filmed, To loose a lead person in a currant tv show is rare and heartbreaking to fans of the show, past and present and deserves special attention, especially has she has such a large following of younger people, having said that I’m sure “the brig” will be talked about as well
DALEK THAY

McGann is still the Doctor.
April 21st, 2011 - 10:14amI was in total-disbelief when I was told the news. Such a vibrant, full of life individual she seemed, only to succumb to terminal cancer.
It can happen to the best of people, we know that now.
Hector Sadler
April 21st, 2011 - 8:19amI liked her. Not just as Sarah Jane Smith also a most beautiful & godgess girl. The Doctor will never another have companion like her again. 🙁

April 20th, 2011 - 10:10pmOMG…. I cannot believe that Elizabeth Sladen is no more. Shocked. Gutted. I absolutely adored her when she appeared in the 1970’s DW, was elated when she appeared with David Tenant, and ecstatic when she progressed through the Sarah Jane Adventures. And coming so soon after the Feb 2011 obituary of Nicholas Courteney.
Shocked.
Hopefully, her legacy will live on, and Sarah Jane Adventures will continue.
Love You Elizabeth Sladen. R.I.P.
