Sanjeev Bhaskar to join cast of Doctor Who

“I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked! Sanjeev Bhaskar”

Popular comedian, actor and broadcaster Sanjeev Bhaskar is to join the cast of Doctor Who when the series returns to BBC One on 23 August.

Speaking about the role, Bhaskar said: “I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked!”

Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, says: “I’m completely thrilled that Sanjeev Bhaskar is coming to the aid of the Doctor. The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is going to need all the help he can get!”

Filming is well underway for Series 8 of Doctor Who. Guest stars confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series include Michelle Gomez, Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris.

That’s 3 now to appear in Doctor Who from ‘Goodness Gracious Me’.

    Nina Wadia [The Eleventh Hour]
Meera Syal [The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood]
    Sanjeev Bhaskar [Series 8]

Now they need Kulvinder Khir to appear in Doctor Who and that will mean all 4 of them from ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ will have been in Doctor Who 😀

    In’nit !!.

Doctor Who has always had lots of guest stars, only the series 8 ones appear to be getting these massive press release announcement thingies.

I know it means they dont have to film in secret, but it’s like there will never be a surprise in Doctor Who again! I’m sure this is the first year that practically everybody in the new series has been announced before they’re in it. :l

Nice to have him in the TV series at last although it’s not his 1st Dr Who appearance. He played a character in the 8th Doctor big finish audios, ‘The Eight Truths’ and ‘Worldwide Web’.
