In a future episode, i’d like to see The Master/Missy Regenerate into the same face The Doctor currently has (or vice versa) because i just think it would make a great dark storyline because we will sort of be seeing two different sides of The Doctor (good and evil) but as different characters

I’ve seen a couple of spoiler free reviews, and I think it’s safe to say, it doesn’t quite live up to expectations, after what was amazingly built up in ‘World Enough and Time’. That’s not to say it will be terrible, no one seems to be saying that, but it might be best to approach this episode with no expectations, and to turn down our excitement a few notches.

None of the reviews say anything much about the conclusion and nothing the regeneration shots we have seen? So they haven’t seen it or keeping it completely spoiler free!

I’m still looking forward to ‘The Doctor Falls’ though. I can’t help myself. I haven’t thought about much else all week, and it’s great. Even people at work considered ‘World Enough and Time’ to be brilliant, and they haven’t got into discussion about Doctor Who since David Tennant! So it’s certainly created a buzz at the moment.

I feel the same Tim M, and it sounds like it will not be like Hell Bent’s disappointing mess. My expectations are not on a high this time although I can’t help myself, I just don’t want to be disappointed and it does worry me.

It won’t be as bad as Hell Bent, but it won’t be pretty if they bring Bill back from being a Cyberman.

Series 10 had a bit of a shaky start, but has gradually become a fantastic series! Here’s my rankings

      The Pilot 6/10
      Smile 7/10
      Thin Ice 5/10
      Knock Knock 7/10
      Oxygen 8/10

      The Empress of Mars 8/10
      The Eaters of Light 7.5/10
      World Enough and Time 9/10

i think I’ll probably end up giving The Doctor Falls a 10/10 as it looks to be the greatest Doctor Who episode ever

Apart from the hit and miss ‘Monk’ trilogy, and I felt rather just below average ‘Eaters of Light’, this has been a fantastic series. Easily Capaldi’s best series by some considerable margin. I only hope ‘The Doctor Falls’ finishes the series in style.

      4 – The Pilot
      5 – Smile

At first I thought the Doctor and the two masters were going to team up and sort out their differences judging by the trailer which I didn’t want but now I’m thinking that maybe all the cyberman go rogue and decide they don’t need the masters help to get to the top of the ship they can do it themselves. so I’m thinking the trio form a sort of alliance to stop the cybermen from killing them all but whilst remaining enemies.

I’d also love a scene where Missy starts to stumble around or feel faint and starts getting flashbacks and new memories a bit like Clara in the name of the Doctor to sort out the timeline, maybe a scene of simm regenerating or escaping the time lords so we can establish their order definitively and give an explanation as to why she never remembers meeting herself or being onboard the ship. Just a throwaway line where she’s feeling a bit sick or she holds her forehead as if she’s going to faint and says ‘my memories are changing’. I hate the whole situation where a character should remember something but doesn’t for some reason just to serve the plot. The issue is sort of present in day of the Doctor because at what point do the war doctors memories stop to be able to convince him that he blew up gallifrey and killed his people.

Looks like it. However, this is going to be a complicated and not straight forward Regeneration. I’m thinking the 12th and 13th Doctors might regenerate back and forth, until it eventually settles at the end of the Xmas special. Or is the 12th Doctor trying to hold back his regeneration to prevent an evil 13th incarnation…The Valeyard!

I reckon the fact we seen a tear from Bill’s eye at the end of ‘World Enough and Time’ suggests she hasn’t been fully converted, and it’s an emotional trap for the Doctor. In other words, she could well be saved in some form.

I have a theory, its obviously right.

Missy is actually The Rani pretending to be The Master. The Doctor in the beginning of WEAT is actually The Master in disguise escaping in the TARDIS after the Doctor has foiled his plans yet again. The Doctor then goes to visit his first incarnation, but instead is greeted by a mysterious version that we have never seen before- we will follow his adventures for a few seasons before resuming with the twelfth Doctor’s regeneration in 2021. Bill isn’t actually dead, or a cyberman, as she escapes with Nardole with Clara and Ashildr to travel around time and space in their TARDIS.

I doubt very highly that they would spend any production costs on any of that or keep viewers inclined to watch it. The only thing i could see happening, but it wont is that Missy turns out to be Rani or Romana or something like that.

yeah and this would be a way to introduce the idea of the Doctor as a woman to the audience.

Does anyone else like me think we will see the next Doctor at the end of ‘The Doctor Falls’. You would expect an announcement on who the next Doctor would be in the Summer anyway most likely. So isn’t it possible he/she could be revealed at the end of Saturdays episode. What a shock that would be, plus I bet the media watching the episode in advance to give us spoiler free reviews, won’t see the last five minutes or something.

Just a thought…the Master likes disguises, right? Also Moffat loves to tease us and play games. Could the pre-credit scene of the Doctor starting to regenerate actually be the Master in disguise, (either Saxon Master or Missy Master)…meaning the Doctor doesn’t actually regenerate until the Xmas special.

I don’t mind the idea of Cybermen flying, but the way its been done just makes them seem more like Iron Man. I mean, we already thought the Cybriad ones looked like Iron Man and flying in the same style as Iron Man just furthered it. The Mondasian ones don’t look right flying like they are and I’m still unsure whether or not I’m ok with the Cybus ones flying. I could see the Earthshock ones flying if they had jetpacks on, cause I’ve a DWM cover wear they are flying with jetpacks.

    • Exterminator

      June 27th, 2017 - 10:51pm

Jet packs on their backs would be so much more believable than flying jet boots. I mean, in the tenth planet the Mondasian Cybermen are just wearing silver Doc Martins! I like the jet pack idea.

Reading some of the coments from the Facebook questions last night, Moffat seems to be hinting that Bill is not going to stay a Cyberman, if that’s the case can we have the show since Clara’s arrival in the Snowmen xmas special up until now as a dream and let Chibnall clean up the mess Moffat keeps making?
Hopefully Bill is dead/a Cyberman but I seriously doubt it and the impact it had last night will be all undone…..Again!

As much as I like Bill, I think this needs to be her end. Nardole might end up in Series 11, but I think there is a 95% chance he’s going to get killed off/leave next ep. Remember, 12 was alone in the snow at the start.

    • Tim M

I like Bill and Nardole, I really do. But I do believe Chris Chibnall needs to start afresh with series 11, and leave behind most of what’s gone before. It needs to start like a ‘brand new’ series, and a reboot.

How’s this one, Bill is converted back declares total hatred of the Doctor for “deserting her” and she’s the one that shoots the Doctor causing the Regeneration and then goes off with the Master and or Missy.
Something totally different in the History of Dr Who, a companion who comes to despise him.

I think Missy will actually become good. At first I didn’t, but after watching these trailers, I think she is going to struggle whether to side with herself or The Doctor. Ultimately I think she’ll end up sacrficing herself to save the Doctor and everyone, by killing The Master.

If Missy killed Simm’s Master then that would create a paradox, because if he was killed by a future version of himself, then Missy would never exist, so it would pretty much cancel out the whole episode (and loads of other episodes). Missy could be a past version and come before Jon Simm but that wouldn’t really make sense since she said she escaped Gallifrey and stuff, and we saw Derek Jacobi’s regeneration into Simm, but we didn’t see Eric Robert’s Master regenerate into Jacobi’s, but that would still create a paradox, unless Missy isn’t the Master

This master must be before he half saved 10 as he isnt skeleton and refuses to stand with the doctor in the next time.

    So
This means its after harold saxon as he says someones former priminister. But this cant work as he dies straight after last of the timelords and is reserected in the end of time. He clearly hasnt experienced the end of time yet otherwise hed be alot more insane and the skeleton would of been in the nexttime bit. So if its after the last of time lords and before the end of time could this mean hes revisited a face. I definetly cant be when he was priminister other wise he wouldnt of said former. Any theories. Mine is as i stated up there hes revisited a few or once he got back to gallifrey they cured him of the half life thing but why wont he stand with the doctor if he saved him. Hmmm

It’s weird because there’s no room for him before the end of time it has to be afterwards, maybe when he returned to gallifrey his madness died down a bit because wasn’t the drum beat in his head cancelled out when the timelords were dragged back to gallifey and the link was broken.

Perhaps the Sisterhood cured him of his electric hands for some reason. He can’t have killed them, as otherwise they couldn’t have appeared in Magicians Apprentice or… later. So either the Sisterhood are killed after Series 9 or he found a different method to cure himself, perhaps involving the sisterhood, perhaps not.

i’m terrified too. i have no issue with a woman being the doctor. but am worried whether it would work, and would prefer a man for traditions sake. Also felt twelfths talk with bill on genders last night meant something to do with it, but really hoping it doesn’t

Work fine with the right actress but it’s a gamble and there will be a backlash simply because shes a Woman.

    • Pats86

      June 25th, 2017 - 3:56pm

I wouldn’t say I’m terrified but I would be disappointed because it would cause a backlash no matter who the actress is.
It did not need to put into the the shows cannon and it clearly has caused a split among fans be it old and new, Moffat and the BBC knew this would happen but they clearly have their own agenda.

    • The Outcast

      June 26th, 2017 - 12:03pm

I agree with pats86. I’m ok with it (if they aren’t written like Clara), but I know a lot of others wouldn’t be (including females) wouldn’t be. That being said, if he remains a man, that is ok, he doesn’t need to be a woman, nor should the writers be called “Sexist” for not making him one.

    • The Outcast

      June 26th, 2017 - 12:06pm

[Hopefully my original comment appears, cause context] That being said, I’d prefer the Doctor remain a male, mostly just to see the reactions of the people who are saying he “has” to become female now or else Sexist.

    • The Temporal Jelly Baby

      June 26th, 2017 - 12:44pm

I’m perfectly fine with the Doctor being a woman – as long as it’s not done for the sake of it. After all, it has now been firmly established that Time Lords can and do sometimes change gender. If a woman is chosen to be the Doctor just because she’s a woman then I’ll have a problem with it. If a woman is chosen to be the Doctor because she’s a great choice for the role then why should I complain?

    • Pats86

      June 26th, 2017 - 9:55pm

The Outcast you are right about the “he must change gender” lot, they will be disappointed if he stays male and Chibnall could always write in an in a cannon law that stops him ever becoming a female just to shut them up whinging about it.

    • whovian

      June 27th, 2017 - 5:04pm

This is how i see the Doctor as female working:

The Doctor is now a woman, the first ep of s11 gets many views just to test the waters. With each following ep of s11 the views fall and fall. And the BBC decide that due to poor ratings, Doctor Who is cancelled for the first time since 1989.

The head writer then starts a casting session to find a new lead male actor to porttay the Doctor and companion, but has trouble as viewers wont trust that it will be a male again after all the lies Moffat has made and so the show’s future becomes unclear.

From 23rd Nov. 1963 up till and including 1st July 2017 the Doctor has been a white male all that time, there is no need to fix something thaf IS NOT broken.

    • The Temporal Jelly Baby

      June 27th, 2017 - 6:14pm

Of course, I agree. If the Doctor becomes a woman in order to ‘fix’ the show then I won’t be all that happy as, just as you said, there’s nothing to fix. The Doctor doesn’t need to be female.

However, that doesn’t mean he can’t be. On the contrary, it has been firmly established that he can regenerate into a woman. So it does not necessarily have to be about ‘fixing’ anything but just casting a woman because she happens to be a good choice for the role.

Now, as for the potential effect on the show, that’s hard to predict. I agree that the 1st episode would likely get a lot of viewers and I suspect that the ratings for following episodes would largely depend on the reception from the first few.

    • Pats86

      June 28th, 2017 - 4:51pm

My fear is it could cause such a split in the fan base and might be cancelled as whovian says, there is absolutely no need for him to change gender no reason at all.
What are the chances of a time lord staying the same gender throughout his whole 12 regenerations if gender is fluid on Gallifrey? And if he regenerates into a female, is he still his kids dad or mum, or Susan’s Grandmother? Would his wife if she meets him again want to be married to woman? If indeed she is still a female herself? Can Moffat answer these and other questions? It becomes a mess as I see it! And probably not on my own.
Yet more plot holes from Moffat

The reason i thought it from the dark water two parter is that we didnt see a regen from roberts to jacobi and moffat used thw same thing for 8 to war

Here’s what I’d like to see happen.

John Simms tries to kill The Doctor but Missy sacrifices herself to save him. She regenerates into Derek Jacobi and Simms escapes. Jacobi is disoriented from the regeneration so the Doctor takes the opportunity to use the fob watch on him then takes him to the far future and leaves him there as Professor Yana. Sorted.

What would be cool is if at the end of the finale he died but had his ability to regenerate suspended!
Then the Christmas special could be a Life on Mars type episode where he has to work out, in his own mind, what he needs to do to regenerate.
And all the old doctors could be there playing different characters guiding him in the right direction! We could even see 13 playing a part.
Moffat did say he was working with Chibnall on a different regeneration.
That’s just what I would do though. Seems silly now ive written it down.

I think something similar might happen. I think at the end of the finale, we’ll see 12 become 13 and this will be set just before then with Twelve being guided through his Regeneration by the First Doctor. We’ll probably see a lot of cameos from past people, Clara (who he’ll probably remember) maybe other Doctor’s, Susan, Bill and Nardole (depends on what happens to them tho), maybe River and Captain Jack too?

Whatever happens it will be better than season nines finale, it couldn’t be any worse could it?
Very excited to see Simm’s Master again and the Mondasian Cybermen. The best thing that could happen is Capaldi’s Doctor regenerating at the end and shocking us all with an earlier than expected new Doctor, Moffat throwing a major shock with the Xmas special being Chibnall’s first episode. (Must add that I will miss Capaldi’s Doctor)
