The Proms Pictures, Lyrics and Surprises

This years proms at the Royal Albert hall to celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who had two special surprises. As well as Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman both Peter Davison and Carole Ann Ford appeared on stage to overwhelming applause. The atmosphere was incredible and was a very fitting tribute to 50 years of Doctor Who with many classic themes played as well as those from the currant series.

Both Strax and Madame Vastra did much of the introductions and were very entertaining.

The proms can be heard on the iPlayer

A special 50th Anniversary song by Murray Gold premièred, the lyrics can be found below.

Song for Fifty Lyrics

As I stand here waiting for my time to come, I follow in your footsteps, I follow when you run

From the jaws of disaster from a planet besieged by deadly ancient foes.

And you still make me smile when you stop and turn and say: This is a creature we can understand, a living being, it is just being, If we could find what’s on its mind then perhaps

We might survive.

And as we stumble down our slow road I can’t but wonder what would it be like. To run away with you through time, where would we go who might we find. But on we go, cutting our paths, only one way, one day at a time, while you embrace the universe, spinning your way on the fast road, limitless endless.

So my dear friend you’re getting kinda old now (or maybe we are). And now our children watch you do the deeds we marvelled at wondered at. From the jaws of disaster, from a planet besieged by deadly ancient foes.

It’s not the end yet there is no end.

Fumbling and bumbling while all around is crumbling and stumbling through time like you’re a mad man still it’s humbling to watch you reconcile divergent creeds without succumbing to the lure of weapons, force or greed you only use intelligence and jokes and charm.

Happy birthday. Doctor. You.

It was awesome because at first no one knew who poor Carole was and then she said her name and the crowd went wild! Peter Davison was funny too!

I attended Sunday Morning. It only costs £12.50.

It was an excellent concert. The sound inside the RAH is superb. The Rings of Akhaten really sounded great in this venue (and of course “The speech”).

I briefly met Murray Gold inside the “Hall” and obtained Murray’s, Ben Foster’s and Allan Clayton’s autographs on the programme. I also had the DWM Editor sat close by too.

Great show, great value for money.

Just got back from the prom, it was AMAZING! I bumped into my classmate who I didn’t expect to be there! We were standing right next to the opening where the monsters come up, and was growled at by an ice warrior, one of the new cybermen came up to me, my brother and my friend and tried to upgrade us! It was really tall and was much more terrifying than on the tv! We got murray gold and ben foster to sign our programmes, we even met Barney Harwood! also how do you upload photos on your comment?

      “Warning: overacting detected!”

just got back from sunday’s! it was amazing! I met Ben Foster and Murray Gold, had a picture with both and got them both also to sign my series 6 sountrack. Brought the Dalek Poster with the proms on it, and really enjoyed the show. Nice to see the companion’s themes as well, and I really enjoyed Akhaten and Amy’s final moments music.

    A fantastic show!
It should be on TV as there were lots of cameras filming. There were also some empty seats as well.

I went and was on the edge of my seat the whole time! It was a spectacular experience and I hi-fived Strax. The Whispermen were behind us; they are truly terrifying. We also had the ood next to us in Vale Dacem and the end theme tune as well as a Silent being behind us in the theme tune. The new cybermen are more scary in real life. And the music was the highlight for me, it was amazing!

Front row top Circle, amazing view, although i think the £5 promenaders got a great best deal with all the monsters mingling with them.

Glad is was hot as it put me off wearing my tom baker scarf otherwise we mat have had the camera put on us

we had to go as it was long way home otherwise we would have stayed, saw him outside before the show but didn’t have our programmes then

    • [email protected]

      July 14th, 2013 - 4:52pm

WOW really, we were on the top Circle, row 2, seats 82 – 84, we had a perfect view we could see the rising platform and everyone on the stage, also one of the Nightmare in Sliver Cyberman came up to the door that we was at so it was pretty close to us but once it was on the level it went the other side of the door instead of ours

It was quite hot because I went dressed as the Eleventh Doctor, tweed jacket, bow tie, braces the lot and like 20 minutes into it I had to take the jacket off because it was boiling

Also booboo did you see them guys dressed as the Fourth Doctor and the Eleventh Doctor they were amazing, the guy dressed as the Eleventh Doctor had the Species Matcher from Vincent and the Doctor, he said his mate made it, he let me have a look at it and it was very detailed and it had working lights which made it look even more amazing, I got a snap of them before they went

But Yesterday, was a day that anyone who went to it won’t be forgetting it in a hurry but anyone who did’t go don’t worry its been recorded and will be show sometime in autumn on BBC ONE but for now you can see clips on the BBC PROMS website or go onto the BBC youtube page
