They’re back… David Tennant and Catherine Tate Return to Doctor Who

One of the most loved pairings in Doctor Who’s history have reunited and are filming scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

The Doctor and Donna parted ways when the Doctor had to wipe Donna’s memory, making her forget him, in order to save her life. He left her family with a warning: if ever she remembers, she will die. But with the two coming face to face once more, the big question is, just what brings the Doctor and Donna back together?

Russell T Davies, Showrunner says: “They’re back! And it looks impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening? Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.”

In his last ever episode, David’s critically acclaimed portrayal of the Doctor famously said “I don’t want to go…” Well it seems he – and fans across the globe – have got what they wanted as the iconic duo are on their way back…

A long term wish of mine – Sean Pertwee playing his father as the 3rd Doctor – he is certainly up for doing it and I think that he would do us all (and his dad) proud.

He once said in an interview around the 50th anniversary something like I wouldn,t beable to do the great man justice and i wouldn,t want to take that away from him. I agree though, he,d be my Number one choice and it helps that he looks and sounds a lot like his late father. He could play him from season 7 before the bouffant.

    My thoughts.
The Master succeeds in killing off Jodie’s Doctor in the Centenery (‘no more regenerations’), and Tennant in the Sixtieth plays the Meta-Crisis clone, brought back by the Tardis to try to reanimate her/him. Either he succeeds in the end, or, in a twist, he fails, but is somehow imbued with regeneration energy and, upon sacrificing himself, transforms into Ncuti. The new Doctor Who is now a human being who possesses most of the Doctor’s memories (up to Ten, anyway) and the ability to regenerate. This reboots the show dramatically, and, by permanently removing the Gallifreyan element, allows Davies to give the Timeless Child arc a big swerve from now on…

Hopefully Russell T. Davies & the BBC can make sure that they release every single detail about every single guest star they will be having, give a detailed account of each story, share lots & lots of scenes from the sets before broadcast & make certain that every magazine has as many pictures of the costumes & props as possible & so on…

The one hour stories idea could even be a story arc in the grand Russell T Davies tradition which cumulates in a final hour length story where all Doctors and companions meet each other at the end in the final installment.

They don,t even need to be multi Doctor stories. An individual 1 hour story for each of the 21st century incarnates which would probably work best and incorporate classic Doctors as Elder Curators or Evil Dark versions of their former selves. A fitting one off tribute to all. They could even have minisodes between programmes similar to Night of the Doctor but with different classic companions from the past.
Anonymous, I,d love the idea of Liv, Helen or Lucie in a special with 8th. If they hadn,t felt the need to cast a black actor and ratings had been on an even keel, I reckon Nicola Walker might have had a shoe in and been perfect casting.

It would also be truly remiss if Matt, karen and Artur weren,t invited back for the big party. It would be wonderful to accommate as many of the past stars as possible. They couldnt leave out originals carole anne ford or William russell either for that matter

Hardly a surprise but glad they are coming back. Hope they can wedge in Sir bernard even if as cameo appearance. More importantly, its how they integrate the classics. Evil alter egos could work. It would have to consist of a mini series of episodes. Not more fiveish doctors though please. This will be the last opportunity to ibring them all back however they go about it.

With the two recent pictures shared of Rachel Talalay with both Peter Capaldi and Matt Lucas, I have a real strong feeling that it’s gonna be a multi doctor story. Hopefully we get an announcement with Matt/Karen/Arthur or even Matt/Jenna. Alongside Peter/Pearl/Matt. That would be amazing! With Rachel directing! I think Eccleston is a no unfortunately and it would be too soon for Whittaker and the fam but I would LOVE if they brought in McGann and really went for it with bringing in Nicola Walker and Hattie Morahan in as Liv amd Helen! Two of my favourite companions. And with Walker being one of the biggest faces on British TV right now and Morahan having a very extensive TV amd Film career, I don’t think it would be too out there! Would be amazing to see them in live action!

Maybe they have just announced these two because they are filming their scenes first and will announce other returning characters as and when needed so they arn’t leaked!

Maybe I’m hoping for too much… Who knows!
