What did you Think of A Town Called Mercy?
What did you Think of A Town Called Mercy?
The third episode of series 7a has aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.
The Doctor gets a Stetson (and a gun!), and finds himself the reluctant Sheriff of a Western town under siege by a relentless cyborg, who goes by the name of the Gunslinger.
But who is he and what does he want? The answer seems to lie with the mysterious Kahler-Jex, an alien doctor (yes another one!) whose initial appearance is hiding a dark secret.

September 16th, 2012 - 9:40pmI have enjoyed the new series very much so far. But one thing, to quote an earlier episode the Doctor does not guns.
Esterath
September 20th, 2012 - 7:56amHe does guns, Every incarnation has used guns and they weren’t all wimpy about like Ten was. Dear God, Ten gets on my nerves.
The Supreme Dalek
September 16th, 2012 - 10:49amWhat can I say? I just watched this today, and it did not dissapoint! The best episode so far in the series! Great acting from Matt Smith too! 😀

September 16th, 2012 - 10:44amThat was an excellent episode. Intelligent drama. Dealt with care and morality, by being well written and acted, with good character depth and sensitivities.

September 16th, 2012 - 10:32amDid anyone else think of the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan when the Doctor says the horse is called Susan ?.
Perhaps a deliberate reference to Susan herself, seeing as we are only a year away from Doctor Who’s big 50th Anniversary.
McGann is the Doctor
September 18th, 2012 - 11:46amMy mom is called susan.
the astronaut of death
September 16th, 2012 - 10:10amguys i ve got a question for every one who do you think the villan was in this story
Kahler-Jex or the gunslinger
Jason doctorwhoone
September 16th, 2012 - 10:15amOriginally I thought the gunslinger, but before the episode, the original trailer for the story had me thinking Kahler-Jex was the real baddie, which turns out he was.
The gunslinger himself reminded me of the Borg from Star Trek – The Next Generation and Voyager, and Robocop, but mostly Robocop himself when his face is seen without his helmet on.

September 16th, 2012 - 10:19amKahler-Jex
Whovian
September 16th, 2012 - 11:57amIt’s hard to say. both of them were normal people transformed by the war… But I think the more evil was kathler-jex.

Mr Evil Fez
September 16th, 2012 - 7:10amIt has filmed there twice for series 7 part 1.
timelord327
September 16th, 2012 - 7:32amNo those two were both filmed in spain.
Mr Evil Fez
September 16th, 2012 - 7:42amWell it has filmed in New York for The Angels Take Manhattan.
The TARDIS
September 16th, 2012 - 9:16amIt does have to be said that the series is becoming more… American. Not complaining, but it is. This series has been a bit too Hollywood for my liking. America will never take over it completely, you don’t get much more British than Doctor Who, but I think that the production team are forgetting about the British origins and focusing on the US viewership.
Esterath
September 16th, 2012 - 9:36amCompletely disagree.
the astronaut of death
September 16th, 2012 - 9:56amthe bbc uk are completeley in control of doctor who they just chose tho film in usa this series
The 14th Doctor
September 16th, 2012 - 2:00pmIt’s become a bit too American, but what the hell, this year has been brilliant so far. I don’t care who runs it as long as it’s good TBH.
The TARDIS
September 16th, 2012 - 2:34pmI entirely agree with the 14th Doctor: As long as it’s brilliant and as long as it’s Doctor Who, I don’t care where it’s made.
matt smithy
September 15th, 2012 - 10:46pmI really enjoyed it, but did anyone else notic the “dark knight” refrence when the gunslinger said “WHERE IS HE?” (based on “WHERE ARE THEY!”) in a deep batman voice! I really liked the episode. This list is in order of how much I have enjoyed this series so far(number one being my favorite)
1: Asulum of the Daleks
2: A town called mercy
3: Dinosours on a spaceship
4: The Doctor, the Widow and the wardrobe
ps: I do REALLY love DoaS, its just there are only 4 episodes so one of them had to be number 3 🙂
Will
September 16th, 2012 - 12:39amI put them in that order but the doctor the widow and the wardrobe was turd. The rest of series 7 has actually been good.
That Cyborg over there
September 16th, 2012 - 7:56am1.) A Town Called Mercy
2.) Asylum of the Daleks
3.) Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
4.) The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
That’s my list! 🙂
Mr Evil Fez

RiverxDoctor
September 15th, 2012 - 10:30pmto be honest, this wasn’t one of the worst or the best… For me, Its the future or present episodes that I love. Don’t get me wrong they are all great but I just really enjoy future and I think the present is the best. I enjoyed it but it wouldn’t be in my top 10, or even 30. I feel it was to serious, the last episode was fantastic and that is the doctor who I enjoy the most…
daleksean
September 15th, 2012 - 10:30pmi think if you look carefully on the gunslingers face without the robotic part it looks a bit like rory
The 14th Doctor
September 15th, 2012 - 10:04pmFor me, Doctor who has scored a hat trick. Three fantastic episode. The next one looks fantastic as well. It’s been good, after putting up with series 6, which seemed all right at the time, but looking back just seems stupid.
Also, Susan the horse was amazing.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 15th, 2012 - 9:57pmon a down side, the titles didnt look good, ep 2 ones are the best.

September 15th, 2012 - 9:08pmLast week I was embarrassed to call myself a Doctor Who fan and, having been one for 30 years, it was hard to admit to it…..and then…..rising like a phoenix from the ashes comes, quite possibly, the best story from matt Smith so far – no stupidity, no nonsense characters – a straightforward sci-fi western, action, suspense, drama – just amazing. The cyborg was very threatening (parading around the rocky outcrops like a grim reaper waiting for his time to strike) and excellent acting from all concerned especially the Doctor who finally realised that if he’d killed the ‘threat’ at the start (like Daleks, etc) that millions of people would then not have gone on to die. I know some people like the ‘funny’ Who stories like last week but, for me, this is where Doctor Who should be. icould happily have seen it over two weeks – and in this darker Doctor I could picture Colin Baker throwing jex out to his fate, and Sylvester McCoy plotting how to work out the right decision in the end whilst staring death in the face – which for me made it work even more. i don’t know if next week will live up to this standard (I really hope the Angels story coming up after it will though) and I can happily shout back out again that I’M A DOCTOR WHO FAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant stuff!

September 15th, 2012 - 8:55pmI have watched doctor who since jon pertwee and I sorry to say this doctor we have now is the worst
The TARDIS
September 15th, 2012 - 8:58pmIt’s really a matter of opinion, I think Matt Smith brings a very alien feel to the part that the likes of Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker did and that, I hate to say, David Tennant completely lacked.
the astronaut of death
September 15th, 2012 - 9:04pmin my opinion matt smith is the best doctor ever
The 14th Doctor
September 15th, 2012 - 10:01pmDavid Tennant overacted in a major way and to be honest, I never understood why people loved him so much. I prefer Matt Smith because he behaves in a more alien way.

September 15th, 2012 - 10:12pm@The 14th Doctor: Hear! Hear! Matt Smith forever!

September 16th, 2012 - 7:49pmTank you! everyone seems to have forgotten about him but in dalek he was amazing!
That Cyborg over there
September 15th, 2012 - 8:45pmIt wasn’t good…. It was absolutely brilliant! I had high hopes for this episode and Toby Whithouse did not disappoint. Matt Smith was brilliant as usual and Adrian Scarborough was an excellent choice for Kahler-Jex – he was also brilliant! All in all, a brilliant episode!
Looking forward to TPOT (I prefer kettles) next week! 😀
P.S I said “brilliant2 a lot, didn’t I? 😉
Mr Evil Fez
September 15th, 2012 - 8:44pmThis has been the best episode of 2005 onwards. Its not confusing, we see a darker side to the Doctor (Valeyard return???), and a amazing Gunslinger. 10/10.
Whovian
September 15th, 2012 - 8:59pmWho’s the valeyard? Is he a timelord? What does valeyard mean?!?!?!
The TARDIS
September 15th, 2012 - 9:02pmThe Valeyard was everything dark in the Doctor. He tried to nget the Doctor killed in Trial of a Time Lord so that he could have all of his regenerations and exists between his twelfth and thirteen bodies.
The TARDIS
September 15th, 2012 - 9:29pmAnd Valeyard means “Doctor of Law”.
Whovian
September 16th, 2012 - 12:00pmOhh okay thanks! But can’t that not happen now all the timelords are dead? (btw if you want me to stop asking questions just say so 🙂 )
The TARDIS
September 16th, 2012 - 12:06pmWe don’t really know where he came from or how he was made, just that he was everything drk in the Doctor. It’s possible that now all the Time Lords are dead he can’t be brought into reality any more, but it’s also possible that that’s what CAUSES it in the first place.
Whovian
September 16th, 2012 - 7:51pmoh okay. But the could the dreamlord could have something to do with it? Maybe.
