What did you Think of Asylum of The Daleks?
What did you Think of Asylum of The Daleks
The first episode of series 7a has finally aired so what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average. Vote below.
Matt Smith returns as the oldest time-traveller in the universe. The Time Lord, Amy and Rory are kidnapped by their oldest foe the Daleks and forced on a seemingly impossible mission β to enter the Asylum, a planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of the deadly aliensβ kind.
From the official site…
Steven Moffat, Head Writer and Executive Producer, thanked fans and the press for keeping the secret:
βI hope you all got a nice surprise when Jenna popped up in Doctor Who several months early. If so, that surprise came to you courtesy of the frankly magnificent ladies and gentlemen of the press, and of the many Doctor Who forums and blogs too. This show has been seen at four separate screenings, across four different countries and yet not one person gave one spoiler. From all of us on Doctor Who, a heartfelt thank you for helping us tell our story.β

September 26th, 2012 - 9:09amAslyum of the Daleks was brilliant sadly the bucket full of plot-holes and the absence of classic daleks and the divorce between Amy and Rory let the episode down alot!
Starting off on the good side i’ll list the best things in the episode:
Dalek-puppets
Opening Titles
Matt Smith’s acting
Karen Gillian’s acting
Arthur Darvill’s acting
Jenna-louise coleman’s acting
Steven Moffat’s writing
Nick Hurran’s directing
Murray Gold’s Music
Ben Foster’s composing
Nicolas Briggs’ voice acting
need i say more?
now a list of plot-holes:
Daleks not destroying such hatred
Daleks have a sence of beauty but no sence of elegance
oswin’s voice and carmen when she was a dalek for the whole time
dalek are scared to go into the asylum but the doctor states scared isn’t dalek
so Moffat’s writing made the episode enjoyable to watch but not completely canon with the series – also wasn’t Skaro destroyed in the Remembrance of the Daleks at the Hand of Omega?
overall i rate the episode 9.5/10 for good writing but the thing that let it down was the huge plot-holes the divorce thing and the absence of classic daleks.
Mr Evil Fez
September 14th, 2012 - 5:31pmI just watched this on I player, and it was better this time. The fact of Clara being a Dalek is really sad. But letting The Daleks forget the Doctor got rid of something that’s been going for 49 years is silly.
That Cyborg over there
September 14th, 2012 - 5:52pmHow? I think the Daleks forgetting the Doctor is a nice, refreshing idea. It’d make future Dalek stories very interesting. π
Mr Evil Fez
September 14th, 2012 - 6:55pmWell, its the last time lord in The Time War and the Daleks hate him.
The Man who stole the TARDIS from Galifrey
September 16th, 2012 - 10:16pmThe pint is, getting rid of the Doctor from the Daleks memory banks has just destroyed amazing stories from the past going all the way back to the 1960’s. They have murdered one of the best things about dr who. π
TimeLordess
September 8th, 2012 - 10:34pmI thought it was a great way to start a season. Oswin was a cool character and the fact that she was a Dalek blew my mind. the half Dalek half Human droids make me wish they were real.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
September 8th, 2012 - 10:12amthere wasnt enough good dialogue and evilness. the daleks in the asylum didnt actually do much. it lacked the dalek touch. before i couldn’t put my finger on what it was, but that was it.
Dalek Strategist
September 6th, 2012 - 4:37amI think I see why Moffat had the Daleks lose their memories of the Doctor! Number 1 – To make the Daleks more threatening. Their fear of the Doctor detracted from their overall scariness. 2 – To allow the Daleks a rest. That way, if they don’t remember him, they won’t be tracking him down or whatever.
Dalek Strategist
September 6th, 2012 - 4:43amAlso, I might have worked out why most of the classic Daleks weren’t moving! Their casings may have corroded on the inside, or have been shot by other insane Daleks, same with the Paradigm ones in there. Also, I think the brone Daleks in the Intensive Care were Daleks from battles in the Time War that involved the Doctor.

September 8th, 2012 - 5:07pmNo Dalek Strategist, they were meant to be from the classic stories.
What’s funny is before Steven Moffat, I thought we were just supposed to ignore the fact that the Dalek props had changed, and just pretend they were always bronze lol. But I for some reason picture the Bronze Daleks in classics such as the Invasion of Earth and the Planet of the Daleks. I think it’s cuz they are the only little action figures I have.
the astronaut of death
September 5th, 2012 - 7:42pmguys i think each for each eoisode the doctor who tltile will be themed
in alylum of the daleks the title is dalek themed with the spears
and dinisours on a spaceship the title will be like a green ,it is on the offical website

September 5th, 2012 - 8:13pmJust had a look. Reminds of Jon Pertwee’s logo when it turned green in his original opening sequance starting with ‘Spearhead from Space’.

September 5th, 2012 - 11:05pmDoes somebody knows how they all heard Oswin real voice until they got to the padded room? The Dr. Said they changed her completely!??
DALEKSKITTLES
September 5th, 2012 - 7:26pmif im honest…it was a massive disapointment! i thought it was awful!
Jason doctorwhoone
September 5th, 2012 - 8:15pmAgreed π
To quote Commander Lytton in 1984’s ‘Resurrection of the Daleks’ –
“That was a shambles” π
DALEKSKITTLES
September 5th, 2012 - 9:03pmdid you think it was rushed and massivly let down by lack of the classic daleks ??
Jason doctorwhoone
September 6th, 2012 - 7:22amRushed no, just a total lack of classic Daleks really, no ‘Daleks Invasion of Earth’ version which I assume would probably be more or less in height with the Paradigm Daleks, not even a silver and black from ‘Death to the Daleks’ or a good old Necros or Imperial Dalek [except the Special Weapons Gunner Dalek off course] was featured.
The Dalek Prime Minister said that “It is offensive to us to destroy such divine hatred”.
In this case for us Doctor Who fan’s “It is offensive to us to be lied to by Steven Moffat about claiming to show every single Dalek form that has never been seen and yet disappointing so many fan’s of Doctor Who but clearly not showing every single Dalek form that has ever been seen”.
Ive an idea – let’s send a Dalek Execution Squad after Steven Moffat, Russell T. Davies can lead them against him π
Commander Strax
September 5th, 2012 - 4:30pmThe only thing I don’t understand are:
1. How is Dalek Prime minister alive? They all exploded in Journeys End and the Rainbow Daleks hate pure Daleks!
Jason doctorwhoone
September 5th, 2012 - 5:25pmPerhaps, as Ive said once or twice before, the Doctor Who Adventure Game ‘City of the Daleks’ and comic book novel ‘The Only Good Dalek’ take place between Victory and Asylum.
‘The Only Good Dalek’ features both Time War and Paradigm Daleks, so we could assume they are the same ones from Victory and not from Series 1 to 4, same answer goes for the Dalek Prime Minster, thou in his case, his existence was simply unknown to us at the time.
Jason doctorwhoone
September 5th, 2012 - 5:27pmSorry, ment to say so ‘we could assume they are the same ones from Asylum and not from Series 1 to 4’ not Victory.
BOOBOO JR
September 4th, 2012 - 7:50pmAfter a few days of having to avoid the site, I’m back! The reason for my absense was that I was out all day Saturday so missed Asylum, and was very busy Sunday and yesterday. I didn’t get to finally watch Asylum until this evening, and didn’t want to go on the site in case of any spoilers!
But anyway, after now having watched the episode I did enjoy it. It was annoying after all the hype not to see more of the Classic Daleks, and where did all those Time War Daleks come from? Though it was a nice suprise to see Jenna Louise Coleman pop up, I’m now pretty confident that she will make a good companion. I wonder how her appearance in this will link to her future appearances? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Moffat has planned…

September 4th, 2012 - 7:36pmthere is one thing to say about this ep i can already tell that i will be writing a bad rewiew for every ep this series. daleks DALEKS and i was bored. WHAT DOSE THAT SAY ABOUT THE WRITING.
THEY ARE NOT WRITING FOR THE PUBLIC ANY MORE. they are writing for the geeks who are still in school when its on. it was so confusing. the writing is poor and its like they have ran out of ideas so that means its time to change the writers NOW. there was some great acting from amy and rory. but i did not watch a 45 mins tv program just for that. the only thing that was clever about the story was at the end what most people have not realized is that the quiesten was asked (dr who dr who dr who) the daleks shouted it at the last 5 mins.
please reply as i want to no waht u think
booboo
September 4th, 2012 - 7:40pmwell in all the polls i have seen approx 90% of people rate it good or above and it had an AI of 89 which is very very high
yes it had its faults be the overwhelming majority of viewers were very happy with it
Yo_ My_Name_Tim_16
September 4th, 2012 - 9:29pmHas faults!? it has flaming Plot Holes!!! the script obviously took Steven Moffat a week to do.
I want doctor who to be 10x better on saturday or i will completely lose faith in it >:(

September 5th, 2012 - 5:11pmbooboo, those results were probably edited by Moffat, read these comments below
booboo
September 5th, 2012 - 6:37pmwhat a silly thing to say, he certainly doesn’t edit the results on here, nor deos he manipulate Ai’s
Like it or not the vast majority of people liked this episode, it tends to be those who didn’t that vent their anger, seen it all before in the last 6 series.

September 4th, 2012 - 7:26pmI Thought That It Was Very Disappointing. It Was Good, But For Eight Months Wait, It Lacked Almost Everything. First Off, Amy And Rory Brake Up Then Make Up All In The First Episode, Amy And Rory Split Up Would Of Been A Great Addition To The Series Them Not Being Together. Yes, And The Lack Of Classic Daleks Was Disappointing Aswell, Also, Why Was The Dalek Parliament Full Of Mostly Bronze Daleks? Oswin Was The Highlight Of The Episode But I Think It Would Be Silly To Make Clara And Oswin Two Different Characters.
Could Of Done A Lot Better Moffat!

September 4th, 2012 - 5:39pmHere on the Doctor Who Site, Time War Daleks are regarded as the ultimate Daleks http://www.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/dalek/types/19-time-war-daleks/
So if they are the ultimate Daleks, what are the Paradigm Daleks ? brute force ? replacements for the Special Weapons Gunner Dalek ? assuming if the firepower of the Paradigms is the equivalent of a Special Weapons Gunner Dalek.
I know the 2010 versions have been refereed to as an officer class, but I wonder if the Paradigm Daleks view the Time War Daleks as either superior or inferior, despite both now being pure Daleks.
Maybe the Paradigms are regarded as a special Dalek force, who knows.
Dalek The Supreme
March 7th, 2013 - 1:50pmThe bronze Daleks are the drones of the New Paradigm, in all likelyhood, the Paradigm are exactly the same power, only they have special casings to show they’re higher ranking, like Classic Dalek leaders had black or gold to mark their supremacy
Yo_ My_Name_Tim_16
September 4th, 2012 - 1:07pmit was disappointing, I thought Steven Moffat could do so much better on this episode, It lacked tension, the C.G.I at the beginning was a bit pointless, I didn’t even notice the Special Weapons Dalek(I thought it could have been more involved),Arthur Darvill(Rory Pond) didn’t do anything special in this episode.
but apart from every bad i said about it, I love the new Character-Oswin(Portrayed by Jenna Louise Coleman)i liked the twist where she thought she was trapped on a ship for years on end, but turns to be a Dalek, I thought Matt Smith’s acting was amazing, and Karen Gillan(Amy Pond) was still and always will be, seducing me whilst I’m watching.

September 4th, 2012 - 9:23pmJust to say to the people who think this is the “best Doctor Who Dalek episode ever made”, I’m sorry but it’s not the best Doctor Who Dalek episode ever made! and certainly is not better than “Turn Left”, “The Stolen Earth”, or “Journey’s End”.

September 5th, 2012 - 8:01amOho! TL, TSE,and JE were terrible! There was no need to bring the companions!

September 5th, 2012 - 8:25amTurn Left was good (apart from Rose). The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End was just…yeah, I don’t even want to talk about it. π
