What did You Think of Class Episode 1?
It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack from the monstrous Shadow Kin, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them.
Charlie, April, Ram and Tanya, assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill, are now charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as ‘The Doctor’: to guard against the creatures of nightmare, who want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.
And this incursion is only the beginning…
Class is available to order on DVD or blu-ray from www.amazon.co.uk

October 26th, 2016 - 5:31pmit’s just occured to me that since the this show refers to the rip in space and time as “the crack”, it’s really unfortunate that there’s a character called “ram” in it, because if ever there’s an episode where ram enters the rip in space and time, it leaves the show wide open to a whole bunch of “ram in the crack” jokes XD

October 24th, 2016 - 11:25pmJust noticed a ‘W. Tardif’ and Susan foreman on the honors board in episode 1
Doctor Stu
October 24th, 2016 - 11:11pmCould Charlie use the gun in episode 1 because he was the prince of the Rodia (pretty sure that’s a Star Wars planet) and it wouldn’t kill him if he used it I’ve forgotten if it was explained or not. I don’t understand why the gun kills both shooter and victim
Exterminator
October 25th, 2016 - 9:17amI think Charlie can use the gun when ever he wants because it once belonged to his people. Miss Quill can only fire it if she’s using it to protect Charlie (that’s why it vaporised that other student). I think?
Doctor Stu
October 25th, 2016 - 10:42amOk thank you

October 25th, 2016 - 11:47amI think the gun has different settings. When the shadow creature links itself to a person the gun must be set to kill both the victim and the shadow otherwise it doesn’t work because they are linked. Before the shadow creatures have linked themselves to a victim they can be killed by the other setting on the gun.

October 24th, 2016 - 12:07pmIm curious, when the Doctor saw the names list and it reads Oswald, C, why did it appear that he remembered it? Didnt Clara wipe his memory of her in Hell Bent just before she left with Ashildr?
Anonymous
October 24th, 2016 - 12:40pmHe’d still remember Susan, not to mention Danny Pink who is also on the list.
Besides he still knows *of* Clara. He can’t remember her but can remember everything else that happened around her so he can piece together things from the hole she left behind.
Doctor Stu
October 24th, 2016 - 11:09pmHe knows the name Clara Oswald as somebody he used to know but he wouldn’t remember the face I don’t think but then again Steven moffatt has a habit of brushing things under the carpet so I wouldn’t be surprised if he remembers her perfectly well some time in the future without explanation

October 23rd, 2016 - 7:55pmIts not until you watch something like this that you realise just how clever the writing is in Doctor Who (the writers have to figure out how to engage children, teens, YA and oldies). I know this is aimed at the YA age group so its no suprise that as an older fan I struggled to engage with the characters and the plot.
However, from the comments this does seem to have hit its target audience which is a success. I wish it the best of luck but I won’t be tuning in again.
The Dalek Whovian
October 23rd, 2016 - 7:10pmWho would of thought that a spin off set in Coal Hill School would be so interesting? The characters are brilliant. This show has great potential. Hopefully it does not limit itself with it being stuck in one setting

October 25th, 2016 - 6:46pmEp 3 appears to be set out and about the streets/other public places also, Londons a big city, I’m sure they won’t limit themselves too much.

October 23rd, 2016 - 12:36amThe governors.. That brings up an interesting topic.. Ian was/is Chairman of the governors… And Mr armhatige said not to upset the governors… What if the governors are the doctors secret army that watch over the school..? Or, coal hill has been infiltrated by robot assassins that are hunting the doctor..? But why would the Ofsted inspector of wanted ‘miss quill’ if they were after the doctor? Maybe they are some sort of new intergalactic police making sure there isn’t another zygon incident and they want Charlie and miss quill since they’re not from earth?
Doctor Stu
October 23rd, 2016 - 12:23amI thought it was really good I’d read all the negative reviews but tbh it was better than some of the episodes in series 9 of Doctor who. Rams leg tho and I think Charlie is my new favourite character
Dalekparadigm2
October 22nd, 2016 - 11:48pmExcellent. I only sort of saw the negative reviews but physically watching it was fab. Ram’s having a time of it, April’s having a time of it and, well, Capaldi… those are the three standouts. Oh and Prince Private School guy (name escapes me…)
Only criticism is that the camera work doing all that jump cut zooming on April got a little irritating. I know it was like a heartbeat but still, what? Title sequence is cool though…
Dalekparadigm2
October 22nd, 2016 - 11:49pmEpisode 2 looks a tad gory, but then, Ram being covered in his girlfriend’s blood was, well, brought back happy nightmares about Torchwood

October 22nd, 2016 - 8:22pmIs it just me who thought it was genius how when April was imagining Rhodia, because he said they were nerdy intellectuals, she imagined them wearing school uniforms?

Exterminator
October 22nd, 2016 - 3:19pmI’m actually surprised at how much I liked Class. I was so underwhelmed when I heard about the Coal Hill School spin off, I thought it would be just more annoying kids that couldn’t act. I’m happy to say I was wrong.
I think this is proof that Doctor Who should move with the times and get a bit more ‘adult’ too, I want to see blood and gore and more terror in Doctor who. Why should it be only allowed in spin offs? Most of the best shows on tv (game of thrones, walking dead) have adult content and are so much better for it. Yes I know it’s always been a family show but I’m willing to bet 3 quarters of the people that watch dr who are teens/adults anyway.
Doctor Stu
October 23rd, 2016 - 12:51amDoctor who used to have lots of dark themes and death (not gore as you said it’s a family show) in series 1-4 and the specials (basically everything Russell T Davies) but now it seems as if it’s gotten more for younger kids. It’s gone the opposite of Harry Potter as the films got darker and became more for teens doctor who was dark and is now more for kids
Doctor Stu
October 23rd, 2016 - 12:53amI wish it was darker and gorier too but it’s not likely to happen unless it shifts really steadily like the trend of swear words slipping into soaps like coronation street and eastenders if anyone gets what I’m trying to say. It would be like that but with doctor who getting slightly darker as each series passes by

October 25th, 2016 - 1:21amKids that can’t act? It’s usually young adults (around 18-25) who play teenagers in TV shows. Maybe it’s because you thought of the series jungle episode with those younger annoying kids, but because the teenagers were in sixth form, I knew the acting would be good. Because I watch stuff like The Inbetweeners, Some Girls and Bad Education, which are about teenagers in year 11/sixth form, I knew the acting in Class would be good

October 22nd, 2016 - 3:09pmIt was ok. Not really my cup of tea.
