Closing Time was a very good episode with a lot of laughs although that the Cybermen did not appear most of the time in the episode but at least they appeared more longer than in A Good Man Goes To War and James Corden back as Craig and the Cybermats.

Enjoyed this episode, but I think the cybermats were not as scary as they used to be, a bit comical if anything

yey for the return of the romans, I think that something happens where time goes wrong because even by doctor who’s standards you dont see churchill, silurians and romans together, or romans and pterodactyls in modern day?

    has anybody seen the prequel?

    the song goes.

iver just watched the trailer, and the doctor says.
” all those times, i’ve heard them words i never realised it was my silence, my death”

any suggestion’s on what that means ?

That he would be silent when he’s dead. When he is dead that is his silence.

What a fantastic episode the Cyber Mats were good and Craig was way better than he was in the Lodger. Also what a ending because it’s as if Madame Korvin has been planning something for a long time.
Oh by the way I wonder if they are the Cybermen from A Good Man Goes To War

if river is in the spacesuit which was so obvious, then shouldn’t that create a paradox with 2 rivers in the same place??

      think about,
back to rose and the doctor, in the church there was baby rose, you couldn’t have two..
      in the girl who waited,
      they couldn’t take both amy’s..

Yeah but did they touch each other no river never went in contacted with river neither did Amy.Rose touched baby rose so thats how the paradox happened

    • riversong:)

      September 24th, 2011 - 9:24pm

      true,
but still.. it would be two totally differnt river’s
one which has been under control, and one which is in love with the doctor.

    in my opinion,
they have made it to confusing and they don’t know how to fix it, cause seriously ? the doctor really dying ? if he was, they wouldn’t make a whloe series on it

here is a few things to think about.. answer please if you have any idea’s.

    1) what is the question ?

    2) if it is river song in the space suit, why does she not stop it, when they are at the beach?

    3) it show’s us the actual river song in the space suit, but why on the same day.. does it turn out to be a little girl in the space suit, which is also river song ?

      September 24th, 2011 - 9:05pm

      i was thinking that too,
but it’s all to confusing ?
why would they get married, if he knew she was going to kill him?

    • forever dalek 1323

      September 24th, 2011 - 9:05pm

1 i think that it will be will you marry my because of someting i saw.

2 because she knows that it is a fix piont in time therefore she cannot interfear.

3 because it may have been to contain her so she cant escape.

Re the question, we are told in Let’s Kill Hitler that The Silence is a religious order that believes “silence will fall when the question is asked”. It is “the oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight”.

My theory. The question is “Doctor Who ?”. It’s in plain sight, right in front of our noses, and it will be answered when he tells his name to River Song. Therefore The Silence want him dead before he can tell her.

Everyone assumes that The Silence WANT silence to fall – maybe they don’t and think that killing the Doctor will stop it ?

    • Anonymous

      September 25th, 2011 - 8:34am

I think it will be something alot more sinister like, “what’s your name” because the doctor has heard those words before, and river knows him name, but if she dies, she will not know.

    • Steve

      September 25th, 2011 - 3:15pm

My logical explanation would be: there are three River Songs in the episode “The Impossible Astronaut”.

The first one was the little Melody Pond, who was kept captive until the day she got sick and started regenerating for the first time in her life (When she regenerates she seems to get really strong, cf when she was shot by the Nazi officers, remember also the TIA episode when River commented whoever escaped from the straightjacket must have been really strong). This Melody Pond escaped, got to be Melody the childhood friends of Rory and Amy, and grew up with them.

The second River Song is the adult who wore the space suit and shot the doctor. At the end of the LKH episode River was taken to the infinite schism. But as Madame Kovarian said when she found her in the CT episode, she “never really escaped at all”. The adult River was captured for the second time and re-programmed to kill the Doctor.

The third River Song was the one who had already “killed” the doctor. She was with Rory and Amy at the time on the beach. She was already imprisoned at the time because she “killed” the doctor. She is imprisoned in the far future, holds the secret what really happens to the doctor when Rory, Amy, and us all saw him being shot.

We shall see if I have read the writer’s mind well enough.

    let me get this straight
river kills the doctor whilst river from the future is shooting her past self
the suit makes it was to melody/river
she escapes and then regenerates in to mels(young version) and grows up with her mother and farther to be then meets the doctor and tries to kill him then sees the light and saves him then goes to the luna universaty in 5123 later gets forced to kill the doctor at lake silenceo at 5:02 22nd of april 2011 causing to get locked up in stormcage escapes and has he bithday in 1818 (stevie wonder sang but you must never tell him) meets the doctor after the battle of demonds run and revels her identity.

it really is, and also if older river is in the space suit ? then where does the little girl come from.. and older river is shooting herself ?
      is there 3 river’s?
      also..
there timelines are in different directions ?
so what ? the doctor regenrates into david tennant ?

It thought it was implied that the doctor took her to the future (or infinitely far away place?) to be cared for by the sisters of infinite schism. She attends Luna University at the year 5000s. To find the doctor, whose adventures are in the year 2000s according to the earth calendar, River becomes a futuristic archeologist, get herself a time-travel vortex manipulator and “digs layers of history” backward from the year 5000s all the way to the 2000s. That is why her time line is in reverse to that of the doctor’s.

    i have been thinking,
it show’s you river song under water in the space suit correct ? well river is also at the lake the doctor ”dies”.
so clearly she know’s it is going to happen ?
does anybody have any idea’s on how it will all be stopped ?

is anybody else thinking that they should’ve forgotten about curse of the black spot, fiddled with the order a bit, and then made wedding of river song a 2 parter. i don’t doubt that it’ll be awesome, but i do think everything might be a little rushed as it has been in other stories this year. (night terrors i’m looking at you)

A witty episode but ruined the cybermen again….(killed with love….come on.) Cybermat with teeth was cool though. More of a emotional episode with the doctor facing his death, (done before better with david tennent), but its a bit moot really as he is filming the christmas special so we know he gets out of it in the end.

    Good ending though.
