      Maybe she’s river song?

Cant be River Song as dosen’t regenerate beyond Alex Kingston incarnation as is killed by the Nashta Verada in the “Silence Of The Libary” when she meets Tennant Doctor and her future was also going into the Doctor’s past in any event.

There was some stuff on the actress who plays “Missy” put up here but wether she is playing the Rani who can really say yet? But I wouldn’t be suprised.

      I suspect the Doctor’s old wife/lover, a.k.a. Susan’s grandmother.

Easily the best doctor debut episode ever, absolutely superb, loved every minute of it. I am really intrigued by the story arc that is being put into place too. And the appearance by matt at the end put the icing on the cake. 10/10

It was unbelievably disappointing, I’d rather watch an hour of coronation street than this complete and utter dross. By far the worst doctor and the backdrop was completely fake, for example when the doctor was on the roof of the Victorian house after climbing out the window it felt I was staring at a play group painting. 1 hour and 20 minutes of my life I will never get back.

Just my opinion, oh and I hope his new screwdriver is cool because the tardis and the opening introduction was horrible. Hope it gets better.

As someone who’s (!) been watching since Pertwee, I thought he was excellent. The first episode has historically been about a slightly disoriented/disjointed Doctor – it always took a few episodes to zero in on his new personality. Capaldi brings a new gravitas to the part that, frankly, Smith could not dream of pulling off (not to knock Smith, who was very good even with the burden of following Tennant). He also exhibits a more sly, low-key sense of humor, though occasionally it’s difficult to pull some of that out of that Scottish accent – I’ll need to start using subtitles. Well-done BBC.

Have not laughed so much in a dr who for a long time – enjoyable though rather spooked by my son guessing each plot turn ahead of it coming! Hope the lady at the end doesn’t involve long complicated story arc that culminates in end of series let down. First episode and the new doctor top marks!

Well that was amazing, brilliant, awesome, and lots of other fantastic adjectives I can’t even think of! Peter Capaldi was absolutely captivating, intense, and dare I say it….rather dashing! I thought David Tennant was my favourite Doctor, then I thought Matt Smith was my favourite Doctor – now i’m not too sure! Can’t wait for next week.

I agree. Although I feel blinded by the glory that was Matt Smith’s Doctor, I’m liking Peter Capaldi so far, and his first episode as the Doctor is great. With time, he might just surpass Smith… Time will tell, it always does.
