Cyber10Dalek
September 2nd, 2014 - 7:50pmHow did no Daleks in the squadron that Rusty killed fight back against him? Sure Rusty was rapidly firing on them but they could have at least tried!
The Moffat Paradox
September 3rd, 2014 - 10:44amFor dramatic effect, possible incredulity by the other Daleks that its happening and maybe because it’s planned that “Rusty” will return so had to survive and infiltrate the Daleks somehow. But it won’t be the first time in the series history Daleks have ended up firing at each other.
Exterminator
September 2nd, 2014 - 12:26amI just watched into the dalek again and it’s even better the second time.
Peter Capaldi is wonderful and he just oozes with character. I loved how he made Journey Blue say please before returning her to the Aristotle and the ‘mind meld’ with Rusty was just awesome.
I’m a bit puzzled as to why he now dislikes soldiers given his history with unit and captain Jack.
The whole Missy thing is really looking interesting. I can’t wait to see who she is.
Overall, it was a brilliant second episode.
Dalek Supreme
August 31st, 2014 - 10:51pmYou know, I wish that they would give us a real, developed reason for the Paradigm Daleks not being around really. Ok, I know people don’t like them. They’re alright, but could be better. They’re just doing pandering fan service so they don’t lose viewers. ‘Oh, so they’re an Officer class now? Fine, cool. so why don’t we see them bossing Bronze Daleks around now?’
I know the Bronze Daleks do look better overall compared to the New Paradigm ones, but they have one major flaw: Height. When designed back around 2004/2005, they were made to be Billie Piper’s height, so they would see eyes-to-eyestalk. But, Billie Piper isn’t very tall, so now they look *tiny* compared to everyone else, so don’t look so threatening.
The Moffat Paradox
August 31st, 2014 - 11:34pmThere is no point saying their the officer class unless we see the officers like the red warriors/yellow eternals doing things(e.g leading the bronzes in battle.)
It would at the very least have made sense if the bridge of the Dalek ship had been staffed (or mostly staffed) by Daleks in Paradigm casings with a white Supreme in overall command.
Exterminator
September 1st, 2014 - 12:29amI really like the look of the paradigm Daleks, but I agree they need to explain where they are now in relation to the Dalek fleet.
I’d love to see what Davros would make of the paradigm Daleks. Maybe they could use them again when and if Davros returns?
WFK DVD Collector 14
September 1st, 2014 - 8:48amI know that the daleks were made that perticular hight because of Billie Piper, but the bronze daleks are the average hight for a dalek (which is about 6 foot or 5 foot 11 inches). Also thier not the smallest daleks to ever appear in Doctor Who, the ones from the 60s were much smaller ( Not counting the Invasion Earth version). Personally, I’ve got no problem with the Bronze Daleks. Everyone always says ‘they need to change’ but what if this is the armour that the Daleks think it the most affective? Only thing is now, all the Daleks seem to be gold, and there’s no black Daleks, leaders, ect.

August 31st, 2014 - 9:45pmI don’t know if it was just me who noticed this, but the voices of the daleks seem to be more broken up like those of the classic era all of the daleks except for rusty that is
Alpha Rusty The Dalek
August 31st, 2014 - 8:39pmHaving just re-watched this, I was able to properly enjoy it, and it really was a fantastic ep!
Best Dalek story in a while, one of the best since 2005 – they were shown to be a true threat and actually killed people again!
And Capaldi is fast tracked to being my fave Doctor ever!
(He’s already one of my faves)
WhoCrossoverAnimator
August 31st, 2014 - 8:13pmI found this story really enjoyable, when the first teasers came out I expected Davros like most fans, but after learning the synopsis from the RT I was interested, I mean it was an interesting perspective into the anatomy of one of the most memorable baddies in Sci Fi history, I feel that going into the villain had that effect to increase that “behind the sofa” factor that Doctor Who has always been famous for with both ourselves and our parents.

August 31st, 2014 - 5:09pmI wasn’t quite sure that it was necessary for the Episode to be completely “anti-soldier” as it was, and certainly the quips made by Clara towards Mr.Pink (character name far more suited to Reservoir Dogs) were tasteless. Regardless of the writers views, this kind of statement in in a family show, should be far more subtle and balanced, present all sides and points of view, and don’t lead the viewer around by the nose….maybe it kinda tried, didn’t work with me,though…..The plot was good, I liked the story, borrowed from Classic sci-fi, and perhaps a bit of TNG “I Borg” episode and future storyline ? Peter Capaldi and his version is a vast improvement from how the previous Doctor was asked to be portrayed. Can we just leave out the comedy banter, its pointless and awful, I don’t find it funny, it justs detracts from the drama. Overall, I did enjoy ‘Into The Dalek’ though.
Exterminator
September 1st, 2014 - 12:33amThey even used the Borg’s catchphrase “Resistance is futile!”
AJW
September 1st, 2014 - 1:00amI agree. A very good ep with good characterization, and interesting teasers with Mr Pink etc, but why have the political anti-soldier comments? Not needed, doesn’t add to the story and following the lesbian kiss, is risking alienating viewers.
The Moffat Paradox
September 1st, 2014 - 1:54amAgreed.

August 31st, 2014 - 2:06pmI’m interested with the Missy storyline but it felt a little interupting putting it slap bang in the middle there. Superb episode, had my whole family watching. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!!
100,000BC
August 31st, 2014 - 1:22pmLoved it! Especially the clever bit at the end where the Doctor refuses to take the girl with him because she is a soldier, thus making Clara realise that he won’t approve of Danny. Peter Capaldi is amazing as the new Doctor – can’t wait for next week and Robin Hood!
KORSAIR
August 31st, 2014 - 1:17pmHonestly I preferred the scenes set in the school more than the main storyline. I am liking the Capaldi Doctor though he seems to be staying away from the cute huggy type and I like his colder edge.
ZygonTerror
August 31st, 2014 - 1:00pmI am probably being a bit biased as Christopher Eccleston is probably what I would consider to be ‘MY’ Doctor (with Jon Pertwee probably being my favourite Doctor all the same) but for me personally I think that since BadWolf/TPotW, there hasn’t been a better dalek story.
A typical statement, but I think Genesis is probably my favourite dalek story closely followed by all of the ninth doctor dalek stories.
This episode was a nice dalek story but I just feel that for the revived series, the series one finale will take some beating for a dalek story. At the time it left me wondering what would happen, and is probably the story that made me a regular Doctor Who viewer/fan.
Nottookeen
September 5th, 2014 - 12:05amI have to agree with you ZygonTerror, the Bad Wolf / TPotW were great dalek stories.
Big D
August 31st, 2014 - 12:35pmA vast improvement on Deep Breath. Still a tad too much ’emotion’ going on for me BUT it seems to be moving in the right direction.
Blatant rip-off of Fantastic Voyage crossed with Dalek but still.
I like Peter Capaldis Doctor so far. I just hope they stick with it. He has an edge to him, an unpredictability that I like.
Lets also hope that the keep the screwdriver to a minimum.
the ergon
August 31st, 2014 - 11:44amIt was fine. Theres usually on average at least 2 instant classics per series and whyll I,ve enjoyed the first two, I,m still waiting for those capaldi standouts. Zawe ashton who plays vod in fresh meat would have got my vote as the 1st woman doctor if shed have played it in that same vein, now shes an almost companion. One question about this missy. Why is she selecting leesser characters for this heavenly place?. This obviously this seasons story arc, I,n intrigued why? any theories?

August 31st, 2014 - 11:38amTerrible confusing episode. At least he should have taken the soldier on board.
Harold Saxon
August 31st, 2014 - 11:23amThis episode was brilliant! I loved the trip into the dalek mixed with bits at coal hill school, good pace too, gripping and loved the music!
DALEKSKITTLES
August 31st, 2014 - 9:17am8+half/10 🙂
My favourite dalek episode so far! Effects could have been better and little less talking at the beginning but overall a great episode!!
If you hear rusty says he’s going back to the ship “he has unfinished work” I think he’s going to kill the ship. I reckon this episode will have a big knock on effect if the daleks! Could spark a civil war? Loved it!
Nelsonator
August 31st, 2014 - 9:03amWell, this is just brilliant, I mean, I was expecting Davros to return but this is even better, a Dalek that wants revenge and fights for good without missing a single shot at every dalek.
he’s a bit like either a special weapons dalek but with faster movement and more firing
this is definently a 10/10 from me, well done “Rusty” old boy.
The Moffat Paradox
August 31st, 2014 - 9:28pmLOL! “Rusty!”The fastest Dalek gunslinger in the West!
TheExtremeBlueTARDIS
August 31st, 2014 - 9:02amI really loved this episode, one of my all time favourite stories featuring the Daleks. The Daleks finally seemed scary again, something that everybody felt was missing in recent episodes of Dalek stories. We’re finally introduced to Danny Pink, and that Missy story arc just gets more intriguing as it goes! I still overall prefered Deep Breath, but this episode was still fantastic. 9/10
Dalek The Supreme
August 31st, 2014 - 3:19amOkay, how did I like our trip Into The Dalek? IT WAS AWFUL! IT WAS TERRIBLE! I SAID THEY SHOULD HAVE USED THE PARADIGM DALEKS AGAIN, BUT THEY DIDN’T! WE SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE REAR HATCH WEAPONS AND THE ETERNAL DALEK! BUT NO! STILL THE SAME BRONZE DALEKS! THEY RUINED THE DALEKS FOREVER!
Not buying it, huh? Okay, here’s what I REALLY thought of the episode. It was great. There were some minor faults (the aforementioned absence of the New Paradigm and the fact that radiation, which birthed the Daleks in the first place, was harming it), but as a whole, it was a very solid episode. The insight into the Doctor’s character, the introduction of Danny Pink, the conflict about whether a good Dalek could exist or not, and the sets were all great. Not to mention, the Daleks were actually killing people again! 😀 9/10. VERY well earned 9/10.
Daniel
August 31st, 2014 - 11:45amRusty seemed to look more iron than bronze in the last scene there. Or that may be wishful thinking on my part. I miss the classic grey livery. Anyway it will be interesting if we have a recurring character in this Dalek.
Dalek The Supreme
August 31st, 2014 - 2:12pmNo, it’s just dirt/dust/ash, like the Daleks in the Asylum in Asylum of the Daleks.
the astronaut of death
August 31st, 2014 - 12:25amok I get the whole darker doctor thing
but when the doctor tricked ross into getting killed by the dalek antibodies I was really shocked
I feel like clara
I don’t know who the doctor is anymore.
Jamie
August 31st, 2014 - 1:25amThe Dr didn’t rick Ross into getting killed, he was already going to die. The Dr just took advantage of the situation so he could track the antibodies.
Hannah
August 31st, 2014 - 2:49pmI agree completely. I feel past incarnations of the doctor wouldn’t take advantage of Ross’ trust and kill him.
The doctor I know was a good man and I have no idea how he turned out to be so.. I could almost say cruel.
He could have at least told Ross that he was gonna die and there was nothing to do about it.. How could he take advantage of ross’ trust!!
Rincewind35
August 30th, 2014 - 11:26pmSorry to disagree but tonight’s episode had more lose ends than a tramps jumper. Not withstanding the fact that action suddenly and inexplicably jumps from Glasgow at the end of the last episode. What about the dalek hive mind – if you remember that’s how the dr removed all trace of himself and had them all asking Dr Who?? If one had gone AWOL and started killing other daleks a hive mind would have detected it immediately. I also think it’s too late to try and resurrect john pertwee in the form of Capaldi. It isn’t modern and doesn’t work
Button
August 31st, 2014 - 12:25amThe Dalek in this episode was damaged so it stands to reason that its connection to the dalek hive mind could have been severed. For all we know the Dalek ship in the episode was answering to that Dalek going AWOL.
I do not think anyone is trying to resurrect John Pertwee. I have seen some of his episodes and there are very few things that they have in common.
RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND
August 30th, 2014 - 11:01pmthat was absolutely fantastic! great acting and development for clara and the doctor. had some iconic moments the doctor and dalek eye to face, and the way they did the dalek insides were very well and dalek like. I was worried it would fall flat as I didn’t see a story forming in the trailer, but it went into a very ethical dilemma.
capaldi was fantastic, and at first i thought danny pink had killed a civilian or something as he wouldn’t answer that question.
missy is a mystery
the best episode for a while, much better than asylum.
not sure what to expect for next week.
still don’t like the new titles though! and that blue woman was so annoying. wouldn’t stop shouting!
can’t compare to deep breath, as they were very different, but i did enjoy both despite the deep breath story being reused and weak
The Moffat Paradox
August 30th, 2014 - 10:49pmSo it was a Doctor Who version of “Fantastic Voyage”.Agree with much already said praising the episode and thought ITS ABOUT TIME when we saw proper exterminations and battle scenes with the Daleks taking casualties as well as dishing it out.
Prefer the previous effect of Dalek weapons being mostly fired in a narrow focused beam instead of pulses (but thats just me) and did anyone notice they now seem to be minus their deflector shields that the’ve had since “Dalek”.The marines energy weapons were hitting the casings.(Instead having to get through with concentrated firepower.)
Agree that there needs to be some future explanation of the context of this presumably post time war conflict, how the marines(if they have any link to Earth and it’s history with the Daleks) didn’t already know before that they were organic(If thats not a writer/script continuity oversight) and if Daleks in Paradigm casings are actually the officer class of this new Dalek Empire giving the rest their orders and to be at any point used militarily themselves.
All in all I thought a refreshing take on the oldest and deadliest enemy.
And now there is the Missy factor clearly established.
Dalek The Supreme
August 31st, 2014 - 3:36amI think, unfortunately the New Dalek Paradigm have been retired. It would have been nice to see them in action, and have them using the rear-hatch weapons, or elaborating on the purpose of the Eternal Dalek, but I assume that, since they haven’t appeared since Asylum of the Daleks, that they were either erased from time, or they were all on the mother-ship that was destroyed by the Eleventh Doctor’s regeneration.
David Strachan
August 30th, 2014 - 9:58pmAt last, a story that follows a more ‘classic series’ Dalek narative (AKA,galactic wars with humanity instead of jumping through time and space to carry out large scale and complex plans)and they get a big enough slice of screen time.
There was even a nice nod to Dalek Empire when Rusty yelled ‘Death to the Daleks’ which I think should be the battle cry for anyone fighting them on a battlefield.
I just wish this story was set later on in the series since the Daleks have been up and about too much recently.
I’m really likeing Capaldi as the Doctor and it’s clear they’re going with a Doctor who is focused more on getting the job over and done rather than trying to save those in the line of fire.
As for Danny Pink, I hope he plays a central part in the series later since he has only a small amount of screen time to develop here. With that said I can’t see why he was introduced in this story since it leaves us with less time to concentrate on the Daleks.
Phil771
August 30th, 2014 - 10:11pmThat’s better.
A view: muting the horrible new music, I actually enjoyed this one. PC is showing eminent signs of Baker madness, but with much more Pertwee focus. This could be good indeed.
A memory: the doctor just booting his tardis door open, is more of the older doctor most of us 30-70 something’s remember.
An observation: PC says he hasn’t quite got the doctor yet…mmm? Well if he hasn’t and S8-E02 is anything to go by I’m liking what I see. A good turnaround from his initial pilot.
WhoCrossoverAnimator
August 31st, 2014 - 8:26pmI also liked the Dalek yelling “Death to the Daleks”, as not only it gave the chance for Dalek on Dalek battle action but it also made me grin, I was even resisting the urge to say “Looks like someone really likes Jon Pertwee’s era” just because it sounded like it was yelling the title of the 1974 Dalek Serial.
the eternal doctor
August 30th, 2014 - 9:49pmmagnificent! what an episode.
my mum thinks peter capaldi was not a good actor but it is his second episode and he will probably progress through the series. I also think the doctor will not like Danny pink as he is a solider.
faviroute scene was when the daleks were exploding. the only thing I did not like was some scenes were a bit to quick.
robot of Sherwood looks great.
but the episodes I most looking forward to is time heist and mummy on the orient express.
