What Did You Think of Nightmare in Silver?

What Did You Think of Nightmare in Silver?

Hedgewick’s World of Wonders was once the greatest theme park in the galaxy, but it’s now the dilapidated home to a shabby showman, a chess-playing dwarf and a dysfunctional army platoon.

When the Doctor, Clara, Artie and Angie arrive, the last thing they expect is the re-emergence of one of the Doctor’s oldest foes. The Cybermen are back

Now that the 7th episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

Nightmare in Silver is the best example that Matt Smith is a TERRIBLE actor. Many actors have done an “evil twin” version of a character they play, and Smith’s attempt at such is so unbelievably bad it’s cringe-worthy. While possessed by the Cyberman programming the Doctor appears neither different nor evil, despite Smith obviously trying to be so.

I am afraid you are wrong

Matt smith is one of the best actors who ever lived in every episode he played the doctor , he gave a ground breaking performance and in nightmare in silver he gave another amazing performance and I would like to see you try to do what he dose

And if he was a terrible actor then why would he get countless awards

      So you are wrong 🙂

It was a fantastic episode but I have to agree the kids were lame. Everything else was terrific. Also the cybermen’s new heads look a lot like the Tomb of the Cybermen, which I found particularly odd.

Seemed far too silly and superfluous, more of a downgrade than an upgrade. The children were irritating, especially the girl who said she was bored ( she was not the only one). However, if I was whisked away in a blue box bored would not be the first reaction I would come out with. Overall it seemed a sloppy addition to the season, which seems to be the trend at the moment. I really would like things to go back to the sharper and more exciting, atmospheric stories of its relaunch.

Terrible episode! The cybermen are less scary than ever before, the speed of upgrade was ridiculous, the freedom of movement was awful. In fact the only thing that was an improvement was the fact that they moved really quickly. Also the children were terrible actors and the doctor overacted!

Seen better , This season is worst by far, lack of thrills, bad acting, rubbish endings, and monsters being turned into camp panto vilians. Matt smith’s dr did start off good but he’s turned into a bit of a clown. I won’t be itching to see the next season, Seems that S. Moffet has killed the series off instead of darking it

Turned into a clown ? Have you seen his first story ? He was nothing BUT a clown in that story, and for the most part of that season.

Only with the 2011 series did the character of his Doctor really start to work and the “clowning” actually get funny :p

I’m sure it wasn’t just me, but was there a clue in the doctor’s mind when it showed his regenerations? It showed all the doctors in a row, but when the 11th should have appeared you saw a “regeneration” effect and then the 11th doctor after that… It makes me wonder whether Smith is really the 12th doctor and the 11th is to be revealed?

Okay, the series needs a serious regeneration and reboot simply because the writing lets everybody down. Can any kid get a ride in the Tardis care of the companion without explanation or reserve from the dr? The Cyber-men were clever, but the dr is really really dumb. The writers process of appealing to kids simply looses 98% of the rest of their loyal fan base is even dumber. When you have one dimensional script writing in a multidimensional universe it leads to a big F fail). We deserve better.

So the new Cybermen are Star Trek Borg or more ridiculous. Also is anyone else wondering when Dr. Who became Dr. Who’s Companions? I am a little tired of it being the companions blundering into the solution or figuring it out for the Doctor. He is supposed to be this brilliant being that has been alive for 1,000 years and seen the Universe. Yet it is the little girl that provides them with the solution. Too often the Dr. has no clue what to do or how to help. The previous Dr. could save a genetically altered pig man from dying by “fixing” his DNA. The current Dr. wouldn’t know what to do if someone had a hangnail.

The previous Doctor feared a process that he’s gone through 9 times before. The current Doctor chased the Atraxi off a planet and called them back for a scolding, rebooted the whole universe, came back from nonexistence, tricked a species into giving the order for it’s own extinction, survived the most terrifying and insane Daleks of all time. Just saying. Also, the Doctor is great and powerful and mighty and intelligent, but he’s not perfect. Back before the Time War, most other Time Lords saw him as a rebel and a joke. And if you don’t like the companion saving the day. then you either forget or don’t realize the point of the companion is to give the human instincts and intuition the Doctor lacks.

Yeah but every series in the last episode it s mostly about the companion than the doctor e.g series 1 Rose , series 2 Rose , series 3 Martha , series 4, Donna , series 5 Amy , series 6 a little doctor and a little river and series 7 Clara

The episode was Ok to say the least, yet I didn’t feel exited by it at all. Niel Gaiman, the writer let the fans down because he wrote “The Doctors Wife” in 2011, and that was fantastic, but it wasn’t the same this time round. Also the children’s acting was horrendous, and I didn’t think the Cybermen were given a good enough part to play, like “Closing Time”, the Cybermen were taken for granted. I also think Gaiman got inspiration for the battle of chess through the mind from the three doctors as Omega’s slave and him fought, hand to hand in their heads. The Cybermites were an interesting idea, but I still prefer the old Cybermats which could poison you with venom, but Matt Smith and Warwick Davies made a good duet in acting. The newer Cybermen episodes seem to lack what they used to be, I’m still waiting for a episode similar to those of “The Tomb of the Cybermen” and “Earthshock”

Hey guys Niel Gaiman said he wanted to make this one like THE TOOM OF THE CYBERMEN and he did because the toombs looked the same only in colour and bigger and also at the end when the planet blew up a CYBERMITE survived and when the toombs were destoyed IN TOOM OF THE CYBERMEN a CYBERMAT survived.

The new cbermen could evenchualy be imortal because if four cybermen were destroyed by GOLD,THE SOLVANT CLEANING FLUID, IMPLODING PLANET OR THOSE HAND PULSER THINGS THE OTHERS WOULD JUST UPGRADE THEMSELVS AND THOSE THINGS I JUST SAID WOULD NOT WORK AND THE WOULD BE IMORTAL

In my opinion it would have been better if they showed them upgrading people into proper Cybermen. That’s what was scary about them, the upgrading and forcing someone to become emotionless. If they had that in I feel like it would be better.

I think this way was a quick upgrade, just to get them to fight for them, I hope we see a full upgrade though. I find they are scarier when they are on earth, walking down normal streets, into normal homes, it makes you feel it could happen in real life!

It was brilliant to see the new cyber-men and they were much better than I thought they would be. It was also to see inside the Doctor’s mind. I loved how at the end there was a single cyber-mite that was still alive, so the cyber-men aren’t completely extinct.

Compared to Closing Time, this episode is far better in every respect. I like the idea of the cybermen upgrading themselves, especially where they can adapt to different obsticles, makes me think the Daleks will have their work cut out for them.
As a fan of the Cybermen I love the new design, though I am afraid this makes the old cybermen feel like old news now. But then I guess they take their place with the other cybermen bofore them and become classic cybermen.

In the original series as you probably know they were nearly made extinct in their war which was otherwise stalemated for centuries with the android Movellans because the Movellans developed a virulent anti Dalek virus. And what in series canon happened to the Movellans?
