I’ve been watching dr who since the mid 70s as a young child. LOVE Tom Baker never thought anyone could replace him. These young guys have done a good job since 2005, but the doctor is 2000 yrs old and we do need a more mature man. I think Peter is doing a great job and if people do not like him then STOP WATCHING……

watched dr who since it started in 1963 i like peter capaldi ..a dark tom baker.. but not sure about the storylines they seem a little contrived .. the stories in the past have been him sorting out a situation he found himself in not inventing situations (ok maybe the first one) …the dramas there but not the action ..not sure about the opening graphics either maybe their trying to bring it up to date but personally i prefer the old ones

I love the new TARDIS, but I so agree..the new opening is a down grade…and I much prefer the previous years. As usual have to fix what is not broken….

To all you “fans” with your negative comments, shouldnt really say it but just switch over if you dislike the series that much, it would be better for us all should you do as nobody is forcing you to watch it

well I was rather negative on this episode but I love the series 2

just because people dislike 1 episode it does not mean they need to stop watching the whole series

I agree.as most Dr. fans know there is a period of time it takes for us to adjust to the doctor and actor to find his niche in the doctor, but geeez point being look ahead and be thankful for the past….

To be honest I’ve really enjoyed the first three episodes of this series, I think they’ve been some of the best in new who.
I also would like to say, no offence (which means the opposite) anyone who still watches the X factor must be brain dead, I laughed when they put they’re tenth anniversary episode on the same day as the fifthtieth of doctor who, and they got utterly destroyed

I have never before passed comment about any episode of DW on any forum. I grew up with Jon P and Tom B’s Doctors and have loved the new show – but ‘Robot of Sherwood’ was truly dreadful. Despite some good moments there has been a marked decline in quality over the last 18 months. Time for the show runner to regenerate methinks.

the programme has gone downhill fast since clara has taken over as assistant she is properly a good actress but not right for this part. the new doctor is ok but he needs a chance

Jenna Coleman is carrying this series so far. Capaldi is a clown in this role, worst doctor ever.

I’m really disappointed with the season so far. The level of writing (Did the Doctor get his sonic screwdriver back or not? What’s with all the snappy juvenile retorts? It used to take me a moment to “get” the humor, now it’s all too easy. Where’s the emotion? I’m not feeling it.) has dropped considerably. The editing is a nightmare. The music (where is the thumping “we are about to throw down” motif?) is unnoticeable. Does Moffet still work over there? Who’s in charge? Capaldi has potential. Let’s do this right. .

The new doctor comes across as unfriendly and argumentative. I simply haven’t bonded with him; he doesn’t seem to like other people.
It also seems like Jenna is simply working with Peter Calpaldi and there is no off screen relationship/friendship as was apparent when Matt was the doctor. Rumours of her leaving Dr Who may me more than just rumours.

For the love of the tardis! This episode is beyond belief. Stupid and dumbed down, bring back russell T davies. P L E A S E. – I have watched every episode of WHO from the 1st episode. The reboot with Christopher Eccleston brought a real earthyness about the show, gritty and show stopping. David Tennant bought forward a compassion that was glue the audience could connect. Matt Smith bought a conservative realism and gentle steel to the show.

Peter Capaldi brings an iced edge that if used effectively and written well, would bring “edge of your seat” stuff.

All I can say is that the story lines are letting the show go downhill and letting down Peter. is it lazy writing? I don’t know. But if

It can’t rely on the momentum of DVD sales to pull it through. It starts and stops with the writing. come on Steven Moffat only good writing can rescue Dr Who from another future hiatus lasting 16 years.

      I got to agree with you , bring back russell T davies. P L E A S E.

I never got into Steven Moffat’s stories, they tend to be too complex at times. I don’t how the young kids understand his episodes.

What I particularly miss about Russell T Davis
if the season final e[isodes that he created they were always a big climax. Like when the Daleks met the Cybermen, or when all the companions were brought back together. In the Moffat season finals there seem to missing the action and climax.

I know people complained about Matt Smith’s doctor, but he was hoe he was written by Steven Moffat. When Matt appeared he guest starred in Sarah Jane series, he was much better than in his own series.

I got to admit that I’m struggling with Peter Capaldi’s Doctor and especially understanding what he is saying a lot of the time, and Im English born and bread. I don’t know how the American or Australian viewer cope with understanding his accent.

If Peter does not work out , then they should bring back Paul McGann, he was excellent in the NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR.

I thought he’d want to do the 50th, but maybe he’s “i want my era to be that chunk” thing, which is the same as karen wanted with amy.
I do thing steven’s stories got a bit ludicrous and out of hand, like the whole river thing i got bored with.
series 5 was fantastic and his best series, that ,to me, trumps series 1 of who.
i am an rtd fan, the simplicity of the story lines still made the episode good, and his story arcs were short and kept you hooked
not that steven’s doesn’t, but he just crams to much

I think some people are forgetting that its supposed to be a family show. As a big fan since I was 7 and still am (now 45) I thought it ticked all the boxes. I remember asa child being scared to death of dr who and the brain of morbius, looking at it now makes me laugh. We need the new generation to love it as well so it will continue.

I have to agree. My ten year old daughter and I watch Dr. Who and she said this was her favorite episode EVER. She does not like the 12th doctor as well as she liked the 10th doctor or even the 11th doctor. But I think he is going to bring a little more “darkness” into the series and I think that is fabulous.

It wasn’t awful, doctor who needs to appeal to children as well as hardcore fans. This episode whilst considered light for us olders would be perfect to role play in the playground with robin hood and spoon swordfighting. Imagine how important that is for someone who is still trying to accept a scary old man taking over from their fun, childish doctor.

Absolutely agree RassilonRocks. Stories are just stupid. Some of the Dr Who fundamentals seem to have changed. The Tardis travels by dematerializing. It shouldn’t fly through the air. And the Doctor fighting Robin Hood with a spoon against a sword.

I agree: the stories so far are not interesting, and the way scenes are put together is sort of messy.
