Did anyone see the doctor get his sonic screwdriver back because after taken by the sheriff, I don’t remember see him pick it up, so does that mean it’s blown up

that maybe a slight possibility but I doubt he’ll be getting a new one because we see him use the same sonic casing as 11th’s in the next time trailer.

Did anybody else notice that Capaldi put a middle finger to Robin when he reached into his jacket to grab the spoon? I don’t think it was intentional but if it was, well done Gatiss!

Sorry guys but that was awful, bad plot and terrible writing. The series so far us a let down, capaldi needs great writing to pull off his lack of romantic appeal, think he has been let down too. Dr who should have a bit of silly nonsense goes part and parcel but 3 episodes of insipid, obvious and poor attempts at humour is enough now. Insulting as dr who fans are generally intelligent viewers capable if following intricate plots and storylines. This series is awful so far.

I don’t think it was “awful” it was my worst episode of the series though

but I still think it was great i think it was good to have a bit of a fun episode after two dark ones

and I don’t think this is the worst series at all actually I think it is on its way into being the best

      and it actually was funny

Of course he’ll be there for season 9. Its a great gig, why wouldn’t he?? And Moffat wouldn’t keep him for only one season after ‘bigging him up’ so much, as that would make him look like a fool.

As the astronaut of death mentioned, overall, Deep Breath and Into the Dalek had very good reviews on here and other places on the internet. It looks like series 8 is doing well for most Whovians…though the viewing figures don’t seem to be doing that well.

Agreed, hubby and I are hanging on my our fingernails hoping one episode will be good. So far a very disappointing series and we hate the new music

    • Anonymous

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:21pm

I understand your disappointment for this episode but the series so far has been great and if you have found the series so far terrible why are you still watching it?

    • the astronaut of death

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:23pm

      as for the fewing figures

we got 9 million for the first episode witch was great for the ratings

and the into the dalek got 6 million witch is not surprising as it was up against x factor premier

    • Adz

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:25pm

Why am I still watching? Because I am a massive Dr Who fan, and therefore I really wanted to believe in series 8. So far I am so disappointed, but just hope that I may come to find an episode that will turn me back around. So far though – not even close to being turned.

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:34pm

I don’t know what’s wrong with everyone but I think that the guys and gals against ‘charlie’ are being unfair to the series. Just because it’s not YOUR cup of tea it doesn’t mean that EVERYONE hates it. I’m standing alongside you charlie. Although this episode wasn’t the best of Capaldi, I enjoyed it all the same. If the rest of you have nothing NICE to say, don’t say anything! That’s an easy enough rule to go by!

    • The Temporal Jelly Baby

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:39pm

Adz, please tell me how Into the Dalek was not a serious episode. A lone rebel ship surrounded by Daleks…you can’t seriously say that Into the Dalek wasn’t a serious episode! It’s similar to certain classics – humans in space fighting battles. 🙂

    • The Temporal Jelly Baby

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:42pm

Personally, I don’t mind light-hearted episodes at all. It would be a bit boring if every episode’s dark…

    • Adz

      September 6th, 2014 - 9:43pm

Temporal Jelly Baby – compared to previous Darlek encounters, would you not expect to be filled with dread and fear? Would you not wounded if and how the doctor is going to survive? None of that was apparent in this episode. It was a joke. Good effects ok I’ll give it that, but nothing more. I was so bored.

I quite enjoyed it. I wasn’t expecting this episode to be great, but I hoped it wasn’t too bad. No, it wasn’t a great episode, but it was fun. Especially Robin’s and the Doctor’s constant arguing. Certainly not the greatest, but defiantly one of the funniest episodes since 2005!

Still watching in hope. Still watching as a Whovian who still enjoys the Tardis, Clara, etc, and who WOULD LOVE to be thoroughly enjoying it again. I wouldn’t abandon the Whoniverse part way through a series, however this will be the first series of the modern era that won’t be added to our DVD collection. And our little boys (who each have differing views on the 12th) are also miffed that the Character Building figures are so small!! – Anyone have any views on the small figures??

Traditionally Im a big Gatiss fan and have been on here calling for him to be made showrunner instead of Moffat…..BUT….. now, Im not sure.
This was a huge disappointment for me, given the writer. Yes it was funny in parts but overall I thought it was quite shoddy writing / direction / editing. And Ben Miller cast as the Sheriff of Nottingham???
I suspect that I will be in a distinct minority on this but overall this just didnt work for me.

Fantastic!. I thought the constant bickering between robin hood and the doctor was quite funny. Jenna coleman is really shining in this series alongside the amazing peter capaldi by her side. This episode i thought had a more ‘classic’ feel to it than the previous two.

I agree that this was the worst episode in the series so far. I don’t like this Doctor. I have tried to like him, but for me he feels less and less like the Doctor each week. Jenna Coleman once again carried the episode, like the previous weeks. Its certainly not all Peter Capaldi’s fault; the scripts aren’t as enjoyable either. Over the last few weeks, I have started to wonder if I am the only Whovian not enjoying the 12th Doctor, however on speaking to fellow fans, it would appear that only the ones liking the 12th are taking the time to post, and the dislikers aren’t bothering.

I do like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. I prefer Matt Smith overall, but Capaldi is still very good and definitely feels like the Doctor too. As I posted above, this episode didn’t quite work, but it was still enjoyable and Into the Dalek was a brilliant episode (Deep Breath was very good but below my expectations). I wouldn’t be quite as harsh as you were there, Rollonregan, but people have different opinions. 🙂
