My Top 5 favourite Parts of Spy Fall

    * The first Two part story for the 13th Doctor and in my opinion it was the best option to tell a story when the Doctor has so many companions with them, due to this I felt the story had a good pace and was able to fit the Doctor, the Master, the Companions, the Monsters, guest characters and background characters without the story feeling overcrowded, also worked brilliantly for the cliff-hanger revealing the Master’s return and the seemingly no way out for both Doctor and her mates, which made it more thrilling seeing the Doctor’s clever timey wimey plan to rescue her fam from the falling plane which had me at the edge of my seat.

    * Seeing the Return of the Master and with a new incarnation made me giddy with delight. and despite how cruel it is it made me smile to see he was reusing his tissue compressor from the classic series. At a guess this guy is somewhere between the Saxon Master and the Missy Master (considering Missy’s ultimate death and this guy’s mention of the classic Jodrell Bank event.) This new incarnation had everything I hoped from the master, he was maniacal, insane, evil, crafty, vengeful and best of all a complex character, loving to fight the Doctor enjoying his schemes of world domination yet willing to prepare his old frenemy for the devastating truth of the timeless child.

    * Seeing the Companions having to work together when the Doctor is trapped in another dimension was brilliant as it brought out the strengths to these characters and the stopped being characters only their to see the sights. they all had some especially funny moments especially Ryan deciding his codename should be the one of the X men and even funnier Graham’s laser shoes mixed with a tap dance battle.

    * Yaz’s horrific journey to the alien dimension and back and seeing how deeply it affected her made her probably the most relatable character in this story as honestly there are some pretty scary and messed up stuff that occurs in Doctor Who and Death is one of the most common fears because we have no way of knowing what exactly will happen to us when we die and Yaz being trapped in a spooky dimly light realm filled with possibly never ending alien stalks like an infinite dark forest is quite the traumatic ride also incredibly brave of her to continue traveling with the Doctor after this living nightmare.

    * The Kasaavin were a particularly creepy and intimidating foe especially when the surrounded O’s house and murdered the two guards. their existence and plan is a well thought out embodiment as to how dangerous the internet can be because through the internet what ever you put about yourself on their is no longer safe, anyone can see it and anyone can use it. although the designs were lacking detail having them as creatures of light made them quite stunning.

As a whole Spyfall was a fantastic way to both kickstart the 13th Doctor’s second series and reintroduce The Master. the only issues I have really is that Some parts I did feel where a little unnecessary such as throwing in at least three famous historical people yet hardly using them and having a rather over complex diabolical plan, but then again The Master loves making things a tough challenge for the Doctor and the Doctor also doesn’t have much time to chat as she is racing to save the universe so I should have expected such things.

Series 12 has started very poorly. Episode/Part 2 in particular seemed to be stretching for a continuity between all the characters.

Love the ‘Doctor’ but unfortunately IMO she will suffer the same fate as Peter Capaldi with poor scripts and storylines.

I agree that Peter Capaldi didn’t get the best material to work with for the first two seasons, but season 10 was fantastic! I’d have loved another series of two of him, Nardy and Bill going round the universe.
      Season 8 and 9? Meh.

I actually prefer Part 1. Part 2 is a bit messy, with the Kasaavin not really developed upon satisfactorily and the plot being run through slightly confusing exposition. However, there are good scenes with The Doctor and The Master and it’s nice to see Gallifrey again (even if it’s in ruins). The Gallifrey revelation leads to Jodie Whittaker’s best performance so far. Also, Graham is on fire this episode and I’m pleased to see Noor Inayat Khan and Ada Lovelace getting some attention.

Combined score for both parts of Spyfall: 7.75/10. An overall solid start to the series.

I have a bit of interest back which I lost completely during the disaster which was series 11. I am worried about continuity throughout the rest of the series not least because the chosen writers do not seem to have a lot of Scifi knowledge. Wonder why this is as there was quite a good team on Torchwood including Chibnall who wrote Torchwood far better than he does Who – where have they all gone? This is a specialist area where not all writers can successfully produce good content especially if they are, as they should be, paying attention to canon. The Master role was okay- a little pantomime in places and where does he come in the Master time-line? Sorry to be negative but still cannot take to Jodie, not because she is a woman as so am I but because quite frankly she does not seem to have the range needed or perhaps the believe when she is acting that she is a Timelord thousand of years old. She is far too “Doctor-Lite”. 5/10. I agree with Pats86 in that the plane was taking ages to crash – quite absurd. Bradley the best thing in this as always. Yes Savo79 really wish they could entice Russell T back but I fear that was the Golden age of NuWho never to be replicated. Seemingly they have lost a lot of viewers and as much as Jodie has been the worst doctor ever in my opinion I will be sad if the show gets cancelled because I have been watching since 1963 only trailing off during Sylvester’s tenure where again the programme lost it’s way as far as I was concerned. Onwards and upwards hopefully!

I loved Spyfall part 2. Truly the best Doctor Who episode for many years, absolute perfection. I just wish part 1 was more like it. It was like there were two different writers. The motorbike and car scene in part 1 was awful, yet in part 2 it was like it was made by a different production team a year later bit like Star Trek end of season cliff hangers
So many brilliant elements to part 2 that I just hope the next series continues in that vein.

Well it was overall still better than all of series 11 but don’t in the writing insult viewers powers of logic in not explaining how if the Sacha Dhawan Master is post Missy how he squares with known events that concern both the character and Gallifrey established in the Capaldi era.Timey wimey wont do.

And surely the character should have learned by now from the Nestines to the Kasaavins that these alliances never end well.

After seeing Dolly Wells in Dracula, I think she,d make a really good Doctor (if they decide to run with another female doctor and not wishing to sound detrimental towards Jodie. Just when she eventually relinquishes the sonic) or even an evil Mistress or Rani. I think all of the comments so far have summed up my feelings and there have been good stuff / inconsistencies and some things that haven,t changed from last series or been touched upon either. Its been quite respectful but rather muted this year.
