What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

What Did You Think of The Bells of Saint John?

The Doctor’s search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London, where wifi is everywhere. Humanity lives in a wifi soup.

But something dangerous is lurking in the signals, picking off minds and imprisoning them.

As Clara becomes the target of this insidious menace, the Doctor races to save her and the world from an ancient enemy.

Now that the 1st episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

I’m not trying to be rude, but I found a mistake. When the Doctor comes out with the Anti-Grav motorbike, he didn’t close the TARDIS doors and they remained open, but a moment later when the man took a picture of the woman in front of the TARDIS, the doors were closed.

Also, when the Doctor puts Clara in the bed, he puts the jammie dodger at the bottom of the pile and then when it goes to a wide shot, it’s on the top.

Perhaps the TARDIS closes its doors automatically now?

Maybe mistakes like these are part of the storyline? Maybe, out there there is a huge,mistake-making monster that ruins films?

What about when Clara was running about with that cup of tea she must have tilted upside down about 20 times and not a drop came out but when they are back in the tardis she drinks it ?

I didn’t understand how the Doctor knew to go to the shard since when she discovered where they were he wasn’t there and she was uploaded by the time he was. The next scene you see is him heading for the shard. How dd he know ?

I think the leaf-being-page-one thing is a very important clue for the mystery of Clara Oswald, any theories?

P.S. I forgot to mention, I’m new here, as in commenting, I’ve followed this site for a long time now.

I liked it a little bit, however the airplane scene could’ve lasted a little longer, and the doctor only confronted the enemy for a few minutes. hopefully the next episode will have a good storyline πŸ™‚

Who else wondered who ‘the woman in the shop’ was? How did she know about the Doctor. It must’ve been someone who knew the TARDIS number. She might be a descendent of Winston Churchill, as he knew the TARDIS number.

But remember, it was the outside phone that rang, not the inside phone. In 1×09 ‘The Empty Child’, the outside phone rings, and Nine says ‘Well, if you know so much, tell me this. How can it be ringing? It’s not even a real phone. It’s not connected.’ How did Clara get through to an unconnected phone?

Good point, Ellen, I think that she unknowingly hacked into the outside phone, and maybe her hacking skills passed onto Dalek Oswin.

Speak for yourself Scott, I may possibly be human but I’m not very clever or at all important. Especially in a cosmic sense – just a speck of irrelevant dust. As are we all. And maybe a bow tie wouldn’t suit you, but it is sooooooo cool on the doctor.

It’s going to inevitable for the Daleks to return because we have to know possibly how the first time the Doctor met Clara she was a Dalek, and possibly an explanation of how she lost her memories of him (that’s just me assuming that the future Clara will be wiped of her memories of her travels with the Doctor).

  • The TARDIS

    March 30th, 2013 - 7:15pm

I loved this episode, the story was very clever and funny, the 45 minutes whisked by like a ride up the Shard! Unfortunately, the resolution was way too rushed, and Clara’s ongoing story is beginning to feel a bit too contrived. Jenna-Louise Coleman has continued to impress however, and the shots of London gave it a real feeling of freshness. The relationship between the two leads has grown immensely, and I look forward to seeing it advance.

The episode isn’t working for me! The opening credit – specifically the Tardis-doors-opening-to-reveal-the-episode part – is awful: the idea is twee and 80’s and the execution itself was from a 1995 home video editing package. The Tardis seems characterless now, quite cold, and The Doctor seems to be almost irritating in his manic attitude! The new outfit is awful, the musical director needs shooting and the whole thing seems to be trying too hard whereas before it was exciting and charming. I hope this was a one-off blip!
