What Did You Think of The Doctor Who Episode Cold War?

What Did You Think of Doctor Who – Cold War?

The Doctor and Clara land on a damaged Russian Submarine in 1983 as it spirals out of control into the ocean depths.

An alien creature is loose on board, having escaped from a block of Arctic ice. With tempers flaring and a cargo of nuclear weapons on board, it’s not just the crew but the whole of humanity at stake!

Now that the 3rd episode of series 7b has aired in the UK what did you think?, was it the best episode ever or just average.

This was so much an improvement than last week.
Brilliant! So much atmosphere, confinment and separated from the TARDIS (nice nod to the H.A.D.S from years ago). I liked the added dimension given to the new Ice Warrior, about time they came out of their shell (sorry about that one!). This time everything zipped along at a cracking pace, or “zapped” as Tegan would say. Congratulations to Mark Gatiss, more like this please!

After a slightly shaky start that did have me worried about where the episode was going, it did pick up speed and became the best episode of the series so far. I do have to question the use of the Ice Warrior though – as nice as it was to finally see the warriors of Mars battling the Doctor again, it could have been any old monster in that block of ice. Especially when they have entirely recreated everything about them such as the swinging head and the whole getting out of the armour… Anyway, a first rate story more than makes up for this, with some genuinely funny lines and great performances. Matt and Jenna continue to gel, and David Warner performed a wonderfully endearing grandfather figure. Some more new incidental music from Murray Gold would be nice, but at the end of the day, the only real problem that I can see is the rushed ending, which plagues almost every story this series.

Also, really disappointed we didn’t see the sonic weapon in action! If Gatiss gets his way though, we’ll be seeing more of the Ice Warriors, so there’s still a chance.

i thought it was awful..exactly what was David Warners’s chartacter on about it singing pop songs..shots of Clara gawping… clunky dialogue and acting.. reminded me of the bad old days of Dr Who we’ll be back in a quarry again soon..i dont want to see a Ice Warrior again…

I didn’t like this episode at all, it moved way too fast at the beginning, it didn’t cut it for a Gatiss episode (we’re skipping the Daleks one) And then the ending was dreadful, what even happened? The Ice Warrior went back up onto it’s ship, and then that guy sang ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’ and it decided not to bomb Earth? What? And then they just went home?

That’s the only episode this year that I have felt satisfied after watching. It was amazing. Before now, I shuddered at the thought of Mark possibly becoming the showrunner, but now I’m convinced.

I think this must be the best ep of the series! Also now i know why they didn’t redesign them too much… Because they made the outside shell Ice warrior! (saw face) πŸ™‚

I loved this episode. It was an brillient reintrduction to the ice warriors. It was dark, tense with lovely continuaty nods and for once a death toll. I loved it

    10/10 Mark Gaties is clearly a better writer than Stevan Moffat πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Why are monster designs always too good to be true? Here we had the perfect design for a 21st century Ice Warrior, and they have to strip it of its armour. I really didn’t see the need. It also would have been better if they kept what was under the armour a mystery, like they had done right up until the end. Not happy.

Oh, and by the way where did her mum come from when she saved her dad? Why is there a song in every episode? Does this suggest the return of river song? But that can’t be possible if you look at her timeline.
