Now that the second episode of series 11 has aired what did you think? Was it everything you had hoped for or not what you expected.

Still reeling from their first encounter, can the Doctor and her new friends stay alive long enough, in a hostile alien environment , to solve the mystery of Desolation? And just who are Angstrom and Epzo?

What a breath of fresh air the new series is compared to Steven Moffat’s comedy years!

I found this episode a bit boring, I hated the murdering toilet roll, Jodie’s using the sonic far too much, I don’t like the Tardis interior (sand timer, spinning crystal shaped like the Tardis, biscuit dispenser, no time rota!) I’ve still not connected to the new companions.

I like the theme tune and intro graphics but i agree it’s a bit short.

Sorry but only 4/10 from me. To think they flew to South Africa to film this when they could’ve go the same effect st Camber Sands!

I think the bbc need to decide is this a kids show or for adults, at the moment it still feels like the Sarah Jane adventures.

They mention the Stenza again in this episode and timeless child, I think the Doctor will go and rescue some of the people taken by the Stenza as trophies so we’ll probably see Tim Shaw again. If Susan is the timeless child, she might be one of those trophies held in stasis by the Stenza?

Sarah Jane adventures? With flesh eating microbes, Aliens ripping teeth out of their victims and the villains who were suffocating the guy in this episode?

The murdering toilet roll I must agree was a bog standard baddie!

Sara Jane had mini nanites that could kill, and even though is was a child show it did have adult themes and issues like when the nazi called Clyde the n word.

How dare you!! The Sarah Jane Adventures was far better acted, written, paced, scarier, more atmospheric…Oh and also had the marvellous Bradly Walsh 🙂

I thoroughly this episode, the cinematics were top class, the story straddled the line well between being interesting and compelling enough for ‘grown ups’ (if we ever are!) and not too complex for younger viewers, same with the script. Regarding some of the comments about story arcs, if you look back at interviews Jodie and Chris gave they said the characters would have story arcs but there would be no two parters, each episode would wrap up it’s particular story from start to finish, there would be no cliff (or crane) hangers.Jodie is an excellent Doctor! I loved it when Jodie said ‘let’s get a shift on’ it just made me laugh and already seemed very Doctor Number 13, she’s making it her own with the way she delivers every line. I adored her reunion with the Tardis, the connection between the Doctor and her new ship was so emotional and it looks beautiful.

I thought it was alright ,didn’t like the sonic screwdriver pointing.
In the past I thought there were great doctors ruined by mad inconceivable plots , but this time I feel that these are good stories but not quite the right doctor…..sorry.

Really enjoyed this episode. Much better than last weeks. Plus I’m starting to like the companions/friends. Even Jodie Whittaker is starting to look suited to the role of the Doctor, and I seriously doubted that! The story itself was very good and interesting. Plus it looked visually stunning, with effects that matched the best that Hollywood could offer. Great acting throughout, which even had some lines that made me laugh! I’d give ‘The Ghost Monument’ 9/10. So I’m converted to this new version of ‘WHO’. Which is astonishing to say after what I’ve said recently…It’s alright…I’ll get me coat.

    So anyoen notice

That now can the doctor have sunglasses owned by Hepburn in her pocket when she literally lost everything in her pockets last episode and she didn’t have a TARDIS

and seriously the doctor mentions that the new companions are her best friends and also says she barley knows that. Werid

Still I love the direction this series

I think she said in the episode that she still had things in the pockets of her old coat, which she was wearing when she went into the charity shop. She just transferred the contents

I wondered that at first, but when I re-watched the episode and she says: “Like an old pair of mine.” followed by “I say mine, can’t remember who I borrowed them off now. It was either Audrey Hepburn or Pythagoras”. So it’s not the actually shades she used to own, just a similar pair!

Wasn’t going to come back to this page after my initial post but I’d just like to share the amount of messages I’m getting from friends and family about how much people are enjoying Jodie. The best thing is that most are from people who have never watched before and the consensus is that they love it.

Yes i think we are going to have a different set of casual viewers for Jodie then we had for PC. I get the feeling that the BBC execs are going to look back at Peter Capaldi as a mistake for modern times and we won’t see any more older Doctors in the future. Modern viewers wan’t a younger Doctor A-la Tennent, Smith & Whittaker.
I personally think PC was a great Doctor let down by poor writing and a darker tone. I’m not yet convinced by Jodie but the lighter tone harks back more to Tennett & Smith and i think that is what the more casual viewers want.

Same view as I had last week. Didn’t in an apt phrase blow my skirt up but but didn’t make me think this was totally unwatchable either. But not withstanding my scepticism at the series direction it really needs to be looking like it’s going to have a momentum leading up to something that WILL. Or fears will start to be founded that it’s now more Chibnall that’s not up to this than anyone else as you can’t trade otherwise in the ratings on a novelty factor in perpetuity if something doesn’t look like it has legs.

Loved the episode. But the companions still haven’t made me feel like I can connect with them yet, their reactions to mostly everything just feel a bit underwhelming. And not impressed with the new composer, the music isn’t really adding anything. But I’m loving Jodie as the Doctor, she’s brilliant! And the new TARDIS looks great.

Yes that was much better. I am getting the feel of it all now. Really like the Tardis interior. Liking how the companions are coming together. No not new best friends still can’t accept that! The music in the background is good and doesn’t overkill the narrative and I like the title music and whirlpool effects. Still hate the Mattell Barbie doll but that is merchandising. Give me a 5.5 Jamie companion and I might even forgive that travesty. 7.5. Husband says 4 but we must give him time. He still doesn’t think Jodie is strong enough and believable in the role. He wishes Olivia Coleman had taken it on.

Thought it was all right, and an improvement on last week. Although the villain was lacking the build up was good as were the visuals. Not sure about all the characters yet, still don’t think I really know them yet, but that’ll change with time. Not bad. Not a fan of the new Tardis at the moment with the giant crystals, they seem to encircle the console and look like some giant spider

Another great episode! And we now know the Sontarans aren’t returning 😉
Jodie on top form again. And seems we’ve got our first hint at the story ark, the timeless child. Is it the doctor herself? A past character or a upcoming character? Can’t wait to find out.
Oh and I’m in love with the tardis. Reminds me a bit of the 8th Drs console with those looking arches connecting the console unit to the outer areas.

Timeless child? Chibnall said key word of series was family? First episode Jodie mentions her family? Could someone like Susan return? Chibnall said no returning villains, no mention of past friends and companions. (Me hoping a lot). Loved that episode, better than I expected and it felt a tad more who than last week. 2 strong episodes so far and looking forward to the next 2 episodes!!

You could argue that Susan wasn’t a friend of the Doctor’s, as she was related to him, and wasn’t a companion, as she didn’t join and leave like the others.

Brilliant opening title sequence. Liked the reference to the Stenza & the unusual South African filming locations, that I personally had never seen before in anything. Clever use of the Tardis as the Ghost Monument with the final reveal of the Police Box Exterior leading into the muted tones crystal effect Interior. Looking forward to either a 13th. Tardis or preferably a 13th. Tardis Interior Playset. Also happy that they have toned down the ‘Coming Next’ with just a couple of brief scenes; which I much prefer, leaving a Full Trailer till after the show has finished.

For me, the best part of the episode was the end seeing the TARDIS interior. Was actually bored and wondering when it was going to start. But I won’t let that deter me from the rest of the series. On another note, and I really hate to say this, I don’t like the new intro: it just felt rushed and not very good

A very strong episode! Really loving the characters, although I’m still hoping that Yasmine will get more attention next episode! I loved how they conveyed the connection between the Doctor and the Tardis. Once again I think that this episode was shot and directed beautifully, with lovely big open sets that really help me feel immersed into the settings.

Way better episode then TWWFTE, Jodie was much better, less overacting which worked much better for her and she was less like Matt and David, the compaions were really good, Yasmin and Graham were much better in this and Ryan was such as good or better then before, the new tardis interior looks good but the back ground and the main console feel a bit bland, maybe I just need more time with it and the intro sequence is good but it needs to be longer, might they cut so next week we have the tardis in it. After last weeks episode I was still in the middle, but after this episode I’m hopeful again, but I’m still going to wait for more episodes to come out, and make a clearer judgement.

Much like episode 1, charaters were the highlight, over the story. But still enjoyed it. Jodie and the gang are a joy to watch. Lovely way to reintroduce the TARDIS as well. Speaking of which it’s new exterior looks stunning on screen. The interior however, i’m not a fan…yet. It may grow on me! I sure hope so anyway. Some nice features for the console. The spinning TARDIS shapped crystal and the hour glass were nice. The title sequence was really nice as well. Refreshing to have something that has no TARDIS and just classic warping shapes. Oh and how the episode name booms onto the screen was great.
