Surely after this experience with the Dr, one for which Rory is aware of the Dr’s choice wrt his wife’s future self, this is rapidly reaching end of road time for Amy, Rory and Doc.
Its like when Martha Jones decided to leave David Tennants Dr, Once you know Travelling with Dr is as dangerous for your loved ones as yourself. Its time to step away from the Tardis.
Rory is pledged to protect Amy whatever, they also have a baby missing somewhere thanks to the Doc connection.
This is a travelling partenership coming to an end! Who will be the Doctors next Assistant?

i do see what you are saying, and i do agree with you, this will become too much for amy, all the times she saw rory die in series 5, what if she saw him die for real and it was irreversable, they would always have that fear!

I just dont understand why people liked this episode. It was poorly written, overwrought and once again confirmed that Rory is the only decent character this season.

Well I’m not sure what you were watching but I’m certain it wasnt “The Girl who waited !”

It was briliantly written, KG was amazing in both parts, its was scarey, clever and amazingly exicuted !

The glasses were very reminiscent of the I5s from Torchwood.

OMG it was a very emotional episode, it was very reminiscent of those Star trek holodeck episode were character have to die to correct a problem. IT WAS AWSOME glasses Realy suit Rory.

I didn’t really like this week’s much – it’s all about Amy/Rory now (it’s just a romantic drama now) and they’ve sort of lost the whole ‘Doctor Who’ feel of the show. Looking forward to next week, a good monster episode 🙂

What do people see in “The Girl Who Waited”? It was awful, packed with too many talking scenes. Ok there was some fighting, but we’ve seen all that kind of stuff in DW so much before. It was boring. Bottom line. I can understand most fans will disagree, but I don’t think this episode was at all good for young kids or parents.

as i said in my comment at the top, i agree, there should have been more fighting and less talking

You know some fans amaze me ! When the show is too story arc focussed they get all frustrated and ask for something “stand alone” and when thats delivered it gets mullered ! “The girl who waited” was beautiful ! It was time to stop and take a breather, but with all the excitement of a personal dilema story too it ! Fantastic !

Wonderful episode. Excellent performances by the whole cast and really developed all their relationships. Action eps are fun but emotional eps like this are when it really shines, especially like here where you see the darker side of travelling with the Dr.

Lipstick – anyone spot the lipstick?

Old Amy looked at a lipstick, but didn’t use it. Later, Old Amy kissed Rory.

    Hallucinogenic lipstck?

Is everything going forward now ‘unreal’?

It was what Amy used to write the message on the wall and when she looked at it, it reminded her of 36 years ago.

I thought this was an excellent, well-acted and ultimately sad episode. Arthur Darvill in particular was very good, different from the normal “gormless Rory”. I can’t help but wonder if the Doctor’s actions at the end will come back to haunt him ?

I had to think for a minute where I’d heard that planet before – Stolen Earth: “Clom’s gone ? Who’d want Clom ?!”. I’m sure it’s mentioned somewhere else as well.

Good episode, important part for me was the Doctor stating that you can change the future if you know what is going to happen, and that he could as he is unPredictable.

This could be a way out of the doctor dying in the season finale, he’s already aware of his death, so he could be plotting a plan to avoid it…

Its the same scenario as back to the future 1, Mrty Mc Fly knew Doc Brown would be gunned down by terrorists as he escaped back in time. He left a note with the 1955 Doc telling him of future events, though doc doesn’t want it can’t tamper with future events he says. When Marty returns to same scene in future the doc is still attacked by the terrorists he stole Plutonium from but survives because he was warned of his death before it happened….. Looks like same scenario to play itself out in Dr Who, he will meet the young version of River pond in the space suit, while wearing a Dr who version of a bullet proof vest..

I think Doctor Who this series has turned into ‘The Amy Pond And Rory Williams Show Featuring The Doctor’, OK episode ‘The Girl Who Waited’ but it was a little bit boring, strange how older Amy had very white teeth even though it’s probably been 36 years since she brushed her teeth?!?!? :
